Today we had an oil Change and air filter replacement by Jesse amd his excellent crew at Thoroughbred Motors. We trust Jesse and his team to do work on our vehicles. Alex at Thuroghbred has done work on our vehicles and we always enjoy seeing him. I got my bill and thought it was higher than our last oil change and when I called Jesse he explained why the price may have slightly increased. Jesse is always straight forward and lets you know what and why things are done. Also an extremely thorough inspection was done that pointed out something's I had never noticed with the tire wear and other fluids. A complete report(including photos) was sent to Me when service was Completed It's this kid of attention to detail and professionalism that I recommend Thuroughbred Motors to everyone I know! Please read!! I'm not exaggerating when I say this: Thoroughbred Motors made me believe in the kindness of strangers again. Here's the story. I was in Julian for my best friend's wedding. I was the maid of honor, totally stressed, and had my reactive dog with me, staying at a nearby pet-friendly hotel. My Jeep broke down about 10 minutes outside of town. Turns out the water pump basically exploded (don't quote me on the mechanics, I just know it was bad and my car was overheating). We let it cool, filled it with water, and somehow coasted it into Ramona. The first shop we stopped at was lovely, just slammed with cars. They kindly referred us to Thoroughbred Motors, hoping they might have space. This was busy season, and I've worked at several Harley dealerships as the Customer Experience Manager for many years, so I understand how hectic it can get--especially when someone needs something done fast or is in a stressful situation. Getting parts can be a nightmare, and turnaround times aren't always in anyone's control. I was basically falling apart. I was panicked, my dog was overheating, everything was going wrong. Then we got to Thoroughbred. And from the moment we arrived, they were kind, calming, and genuinely helpful. I had to head back to Southern California with my family, but my fiancé stayed behind with our dog. Leaving her was hard for me. She's a rescue who isn't always comfortable in new environments. (And I know it's cliche, but she's my baby). Not only did they diagnose the issue that same day, they ordered the part and had it delivered by the next morning. They even picked up my fiancé and our reactive dog from the hotel early so he wouldn't have to pay an extra fee. Before they did, they moved their own office dogs into the break room to make sure our girl wouldn't get triggered. When they got there, they had a bowl of water ready for her, a toy, treats, poop bags, and a little gift bag. The ladies in the office even played with her. My fiancé sent me photos and I cried from relief. They also gave my nieces toys and let them use the restroom while we were figuring everything out. Every single person at this place was kind, generous, and thoughtful in a way I will never forget. If you take anything away from this review, let it be this: trust. The resounding feeling I had with this shop was complete trust and genuine care. In a moment when I felt helpless, they made us feel safe. That kind of integrity is rare. The work on the car was excellent. The way they treated us felt like family. They turned what could have been one of the worst days into one of the best experiences I've ever had with any business. I had a fuel leak on my diesel truck they took there time on it trying to find the issue they did a really great inspection on the whole truck and they broke it down with pictures on what needed to get done first. My older truck needed service for an issue that had been getting steadily worse and couldn't be ignored. Jesse and his team found inferior parts had been used years ago from "another shop". They fixed the issue in a timely manner to my total satisfaction at what I would consider a fair price. So when they recommended my injectors be replaced I decided to do it. I had no idea that it would make such a difference! The truck runs great, has more power and is still running awesome a year after the service with no issues. I drive an old beautiful car. After spending a month at my very highly rated mechanic and being given back the car saying that they couldn't reproduce the issue I knew I needed to start looking for a different mechanic. I know things happen but when I drive it off the lot and it's doing the exact same thing that I took it in for a month earlier, there's a problem. I waited a little bit to write this because I can't even believe my truck runs as well as it does. Over the last year and a half I've taken my truck to four different recommended diesel mechanics in the area including the dealership, MPower, and Diesel Dr. which are supposed to be the best. Nobody could figure out what was wrong with my truck! I took it to Jesse and he diagnosed it and because of all my mis diagnosed reports I took it home to research. About two months later I brought it back for him to fix it! He didn't stop till it was perfect! I am still blown away on how good it runs! I will always use this shop! Jesse is amazing! read more

Jesse went way above and beyond to help me out in a very sticky situation. I started to put regular gas in my diesel van at a station far from our home and halfway to our final destination for the weekend when I realized my mistake I began to call around and Jesse answered at Thoroughbred Motors and helped us out immediately even though all the diesel repair shops had just closed, plus it was just after 5pm on a Friday!! He was very sympathetic to our situation since we were heading out of town with a full van of people and pets and needed to drop off our van to get repaired for the next day. He suggested where we could get dog leashes for our pets since we had to get into another vehicle ( saved by a friend that lived 15 minutes away) while waiting until the next day for the van to be repaired. He also suggested possible ride options as well as a hotel if we need it. I have never had such great customer service in what is such a stressful situation. He waited patiently for AAA and followed up with me the next day. Incredible service. Highly recommend. Old school service and friendliness. Can't say enough!!! read more
