As a stereotypical corvette owner I am very finicky about who works on my car. 49 out of 50 times I do the work myself, however this time I couldn't. They guys did an excellent job on my modified car, they stored it away over night and it was ready first thing in the morning. RV ad Diesel owners beware. Me and my wife were camping in the area. Josh the owner put a Turbo on my truck I then had to have it towed to Poway to be properly repaired at a different shop because it had no power. Turns out I did not need a turbo it was a fuel pressure relief valve and a fuel pressure regulator. The reason I did not take it back to Josh is because after my first test drive I noticed he put in the wrong coolant not suitable for bimetal and discharged my a/c system and the truck had no power. Josh is not a competent mechanic and he admitted the he did not have the correct equipment to diagnose my truck. Also the 2nd mechanic had to replace parts broken by Josh. $3,200.00 ripoff. read more

Today was my first visit to Main St Auto but it won't be the last. I arrived at 8a without an appointment and Tony generously offered to squeeze my repair in. While I waited for my alternator to be replaced, I was able to observe his interactions with customers, the staff of mechanics, and vendors. Tony treats everyone with respect and humor. Customers clearly return year after year for repairs or advice. My repair was completed in two hours, including acquiring the part. It is amazing how busy yet efficient the repair shop is. My repair price was fair. Fair warning... MAKE AN APPOINTMENT and do not be late! I would absolutely recommend this business from simple oil changes to complex diagnostics. My family has been bringing our cars to Tony for 30 years (he was just a baby when he got started). It started in Rancho Bernardo, we followed him to Poway, and then, when he set up shop in Ramona. He is honest and fair in his prices. Our children then began taking their cars to him. When our oldest son moved out of state, they gave Tony one of their cars as a gift since he knew the insides and out of this cute little red sports car that he had maintained over the years. Tony really IS amazing. Ramona is a small town, boasting more auto repair shops than Any other type of business, including restaurants...and in a small town, a good businessman becomes well-known. He does not try to make a killing off of every car that comes in, and for regulars he does little things like replacing blinker-lights, for free. Tony is amazing. The engine in our explorer died and he was happy to offer us a free diagnosis (seized engine). He gave us a quote and then gave us as much time as we needed to decide what to do while he kept the vehicle in his parking lot for us. Most places won't do that. They would have charged a fee to diagnose and then want you to move the vehicle asap. He is doing everything he can to help us figure out the best possible course of action. He's friendly and fair. Called on Wednesday morning asking if they could take a look at my car on Thursday morning. Tony said they were pretty booked up and it usually takes about a week to get an appointment. Told him what was going on with my vehicle and offered to leave it there to see if he could possibly fit it in. I was very pleased to hear he would do his best and to bring it by the next morning and he would do his best to work it in either that day or Friday. Got a call in Thursday afternoon telling me what was needed, and let me know it would be a inexpensive fix. I asked if he could do a radiator flush while it was in, he checked on it while I was on the phone and actually told me that it wasn't needed at this time! I was very impressed to say the least, not many places will be honest with you and tell you something is not needed when you offer to have it done! He asked if I wanted them to do a quick look over of the vehicle while it was there. Of course I said yes please. Tony called a little bit later to tell me that a couple of belts should be replaced in the near future but not immediately needed. I decided to have them go ahead and do it since we were planning a long trip. Car was still finished by 4 pm, which was the original time he said it would be done with the small fix and he even offered to say a few minutes late if we couldn't get there right at 5. I've gotta say, first, that auto repair is not a fun experience, but Tony at Main Street Auto changed my mind. I have NEVER dealt with someone so professional yet friendly and kind. I went in for repair of a sideview mirror that was damaged by someone in a parking lot. The driver who did the damage kindly left a note (thank you, Matthew!!!), so the repair was not on my dime. That said, Tony went to great lengths to get a replacement part at rock bottom price but with A+ quality. In addition, when the original replacement part was not exactly perfect (though more than functional), he installed it and didn't charge me for the repair until the correct part was received!!! When the right part arrived, I went back for the install, which took no more than 20 minutes. Knowing that payment would be coming from the man who did the damage, Tony let me leave, waiting for payment from Matthew (which came immediately...within 10 minutes of my departure). So, if you need anything....oil change, whatever....this is the place to go!! I will never use another shop!! My hats off to this shop...they bring new meaning to auto repair. Just as described below, Tony gave an honest and fair estimate for my repair that was below what I was quoted by the Ford dealer. The repair was done on time as promised and under the estimate that he quoted me. I had also asked him to check into another issue with the car. Tony gave me his honest opinion of what the issue was, that it was not serious and it did not need immediate attention.
