Shout out to Thorsson's Auto Center. I was getting my oil changed and tires rotated at H& J's and saw their business while I was waiting. I'd been stupid a couple months back, running into a trailer hitch, and the front of my car was messed up. As many do, I stuck my head in the sand and didn't want to deal with it. I tend to get skeptical when i get quotes for things - that I'm going to have to pay a lot. But, I really didn't want to go through my insurance - despite how fabulous my agent is. So since my car was still on the lift and it was hot out, I decided to find out how much it would be to make it so that I didn't wince every time I went out to my beautiful car - a reminder of how stupid I was. The women there were so nice, I didn't need an appt and I got my quote. I took it in Wednesday, picked it up Friday, and I'm thrilled. It looks amazing and I feel so much better - my car looks so clean too! My license plate is still a bit of a mess but I figure it's like a scar and a good reminder to be more careful. Absolutely the worst. I left my car with Thorsson's and, after a month and a half, asked for an estimate of when it would be finished. They said two weeks. Two weeks later, they said it would be another two weeks. I went into the shop after the second two week estimate and they told me that they had just gotten the parts in to finish the job. If they didn't have the parts, why did they give me two dates when it should have been completed? They knowingly lied about it. They have since pushed completion back twice again (by two weeks each time). I have no confidence that those delivery estimates are any more accurate than the previous ones. I have contacted my insurance, but I can't get my car moved to a more competent repair shop at this point. If I ever get my car back, I will definitely take it somewhere to verify that the work was properly done. I would never recommend this business to anyone and would give them 0 stars if that were an option. read more

First I took my car to D&G auto body. They had my car over 4 1/2 weeks, and finally returned it to me saying they couldn't find any of the parts. I then took it to Thorssons.... Less than two weeks later my car is all fixed! Better than brand new, actually, washed, waxed, vacuumed, and all below the estimate that the other place gave me. Thorsson's is a family friendly place and part of Novato history. They have always treated me fairly and done the work promptly. On my last visit for a repair to the front underguard on my Prius I was concerned about the attachment. It seemed to not fit properly. My car had some sun damaged paint on a couple small spots on the vehicle, that of course was outside of the warranty. We had gone over to Blake's for an estimate and waited 20 minutes past our appointment to be seen, given a quote for about $800 to repair it and they said they would call us when the paint came in and a month later we weren't even able to even get a call back. So super frustrated I walked into Thorsson's on Tuesday (3/29/22) got a quote for $200 cheaper than Blake's, scheduled to bring my car in on Thursday (3/31/22) and got my car back, detailed and sparkling like new on Friday morning (4/1/22). You guys, the service was great, it was quick, they're professional, Phil is personable, professional and reliable! I'm so happy with how this turned out. I took my 24 year old F250 farm truck to have the tailgate replaced. They were able to get the parts very fast and I had my truck back in 2 days. I was shocked at how clean the whole truck was when I picked it up. In addition to the outside sparkling like new, they cleaned years of dust & grit from the inside also. Run with your hair on fire from these guys. Really terrible job helping to restore a 65 Mustang. I had to take him to small claims court (my only time in my life I was forced to take legal action) and won over $5,000 and that was not nearly enough. Still finding the massive failures they left me with. Painted dash wrong color, installed door panels incorrectly causing failure, neglected to fit and reinstall doors and many other parts correctly. Just awful. The list is far long and this was painful. Run now, plenty of good companies that are trustworthy and this guy isn't. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Thorssons. I was so glad I went to them. My insurance company insisted i go to another body shop to get an estimate, so I did. I was there for around 3 minutes while they took some photos of the damage to my truck (the weather had been really bad and they didn't even wash the dirt off to see what was underneath) they gave me what I thought was a ridiculously low quote and I thought I was about to get ripped off. I wasn't about to accept this quote and knew I needed a second one. I went to Thorssons and was welcomed by Theresa. She asked me why I was there and I shared my experience. She told me not to worry and that they world be happy to take care of my truck. I explained my concerns and she said not to worry about it but to bring my truck in on the next Monday which I did. From that point on my truck and I received the best customer service and treatment Theresa offered to help me with my rental car situation and offered me help with a ride if I needed one. The communication throughout the process was excellent. Keeping me in the loop with progress and also dealing with my adjuster on my behalf. I really feel she had my best interest at heart. When I got my truck back I was mine than happy with the great work they had done. My truck looked like new. Should I ever need bodywork done on a vehicle again, there is only one place I would go! After my drivers side door was trashed, Phil and the team at Thorsson's did an amazing job of finding a replacement door, and making it the car look as good as new on the outside. Much to my surprise, when I picked up the car and got inside, it was ALSO like brand new. I had a fender bender over the Christmas holidays and it was close for the insurance company to total my Van. I didn't think it was really that bad but it becomes a cost benefit decision for the insurance company. Its my Van that I need to hall my kids all over town. They worked with my insurance company and told them I need my van and they could make it work. Thank goodness, I am not ready for a new car payment. They did a fantastic job on my van. You can not even tell it was ever in an accident, paint matched perfectly and everything is straight. They are also able to deal with unusual problems....aside from the bodywork, my daughter had allowed her hamster to escape in the car. I brought my customized 2 door Tahoe here for a full paint job -- costed $4,500. A bit of a splurge but I wanted it done right. The paint itself looks great, black, nice glossy wet finish...but I couldn't be more disappointed with the workmanship. Completely unprofessional handling of the hardware and reassembly. Here is a lengthy list of issues that are still revealing themselves to me... -paint drips in wheel wells -paint flaws in hood (lines) -paints chip in the grill -they left my blinkers disconnected (luckily I know how to reconnect them...) -destroyed passenger door panel, they overtightened the screw to the point that the plastic actually ripped. I can't even unlock the passenger door with a key anymore, the lock will not turn -ruined finish on headlight lenses (no idea how they managed this, it's some kind of varnish) - at least 8 screws missing from the front grill - broken clips on the front grill - they filled the drain holes in the hood so everytime I get my car washed my engine gets soaked when I lift the hood. I had to re-drill holes in the hood so it would drain properly - they said they would align my custom hood for $100 -- they charged me, but they never actually aligned the hood - never painted the door handles, they are full of scratches - the fenders are starting to actually fall off the truck because they used double-sided tape instead of screwing them back in properly. There is an ever-widening gap... I have no idea why/how... - when they removed the rubber around the rear window to paint, they must have ripped it out and now the corners no longer sit in correctly. - There is probably more I can't even think of now... I would have brought it back to them but to be honest, I didn't even trust them to fix the issues they caused. This was a huge disappointment. The only reason I can even think to explain all of these issues, is that they called me and said the truck was ready. When I arrived to pick it up THE FOLLOWING MORNING, they said it wasn't actually ready and I waited four hours for it to be done. Maybe there was some miscommunication and they rushed on the reassembly? But there were more issues than just assembly anyway... I definitely would not recommend Thorsson's for a full paint job to anyone. read more

I am so very pleased with the reults of my recent repair at Thorsson's that I decided to post a review. I am typically tough to please, and fairly critical of the level of service that I receive from any business, and I can tell you that many companies leave me feeling like I don't matter. Thorsson's was different. From my initial phone call with Theresa, their manager, through the estimate process, helping me arrange for a rental car (at incredible "shop" rates), to accomodating the timing of my drop off and pick up needs, they are first class all the way. The estimate was thorough, fair and very competitive; and they kept in good communication with me regarding progress and time-lines, thanks to Phil. They were also very realistic about the possibility of hidden damage and potential costs, so I would not be surprised (and disappointed) later on. In my particular case, there was something unforseen that was discovered during the disassembly process. When they called me to explain what they found, I immediatley got a lump in my throat thinking "OK, here's where the cost is going to go through the roof"; but much to my surpise, instead of increasing the cost by hundreds or thousands of dollars, it was meager $30 for a small part that was need to do the repair right even though they could have gotten by without it by reusing the old part, That is when I knew I had gone to the right place. My car was ready when they promised, the repair was FLAWLESS, they communicated with me throughout, and kept their word on everything. Why wouldn't I be thrilled with the level of service and quality of the repair. To sum it up I would say that Thorsson's is honest, fair, reliable, professional and provides the highest caliber of worksmanship. Great job ! ! ! read more

Can not say enough about this company and the people that work there. They are like one big family. I went there yesterday with a broken window. I've done plenty of business with them, but ended up actually going to someone else for the window replacement due to insurance reasons. They still took my car in the back, busted the glass out and vacuumed out my car so I wasn't driving around with a broken window. Free if charge. A couple days prior, I had my car inspected for Uber with them. Afterwards they surprised me with a full blown car cleaning, interior vacuum and wipe down. Free of charge. I couldn't believe it. I can not guarantee they will do this when you come, but this is the kind of people you are dealing with. Just all around NICE people. Which is hard to come by in the auto industry. read more
