Found a dream home through Those Callaways, and loved every step of the process! I had previously purchased a home where the buying process was a nightmare from start to finish. Shopping for my second home, I absolutely dreaded it and was expecting it to be a similar nightmare. Lo and behold, Those Callaways took every step of the process and made it as crystal clear or as smooth as possible. I actually enjoyed buying my home and am happy that I did it. Everyone in the Those Callaways office is so kind and courteous, not to mention knowledgeable, that I would never go with anyone else again. I just closed on a beautiful 850k 5/6 in Chandler....and while I love the home I'm a bit torn about the experience. Pros: Donna my viewing agent was amazing! She was patient, insightful, honest, and a wealth of local market knowledge. I'd give her 5 stars all day!!! They also recommended Bob Waseiko @ Academy to broker my loan...Bob was amazing, I love this guy #mancrush #imstraight :-) Bob was so responsive, supportive, and creative I just can't applaud his efforts enough. He wasn't perfect, but he was there for me each step of the way. Cons: I didn't get to work with Donna start to finish. These folks have a weird set up where your agent, isn't your agent. One person shows you house, she goes away then someone else does paperwork, they go away then someone else comes in for negotiations, then their is field agents for inspections and walk through a, and then there is...well you get it. All in 4-6 different people to buy 1 house, apart from title company, lender etc. just not for me. Another con is the joker/lender the recommended at first. I talk to him, he says he'll email me, never does, I call, I email him, I email again, a week later when I call the Calloways for a replacement he finally calls me and says "oh I delegated that, did no one contact you" pfffft lol great lender, delegate me and a 900k loan to some lackey before we even start...um no. So in a nut shell, if you want a relationship with an Agent, these guys n gals aren't set up for you....just want to get a house sold in hurry, yeah I might call them. You probably won't feel like these folks are 'for' you...but they do know real estate. Update; just bumped them up two stars...3 days after close the A/C went out...Joe & JoAnn got involved and got the home warranty company to step in and resolve the issue. I recommend you use anyone EXCEPT Those Callaways to buy/sell your home!!! I say that with a clear mind and sad heart. Those Callaways proved themselves to be the most unprofessional and negative team of my real estate history (Many homes over ~30 years across multiple states/ countries so I do not say this lightly). Of course, there were a two effective/nice people I met along the way, but overall the experience was atrocious. I was referred to JoAnn Hathaway directly by someone who knew about their book (not personal experience). I had a meeting with the person I would work with, a senior buyers agent on her team. The next day, I was passed off to someone else. That was fine, but does show their pattern of non-accountability. I met that agent 3 times to see homes before *I* found the home I ended up buying. Important: I brought Those Callaways the deal/home (a friend of a friend); I could have just used the seller's agent (and now wish I had) but I wanted to stay in complete integrity and give Those Callaways something for the little bit of time they had invested in me. Then, due to the ineffectiveness of their offer negotiator, the deal fell through. Crazy! There was no one advocating for me. No one actually negotiating. (NOTE: Those Callaways transfer you from person to person through the process, so there is no accountability or single-point-of-contact.) So, the seller and I talked on the phone. In 10 minutes, we came to an agreement. So, now, I brought AND negotiated the deal. I talked to Joann (Callaway) about the circumstances (just to understand options) and she was overtly unprofessional, disrespectful, condescending and defensive. I promise you that I am being vague out of kindness. Professional integrity and respect are paramount to me. I even fear that someone from their office may attempt a lie in response to this review to discredit me. I hope they don't as it is the truth. Since then, I have heard multiple Those Callaways horror stories. Those Callaways may have been good once, but now, for me, they were unorganized, ineffective, unprofessional, inflexible, and unreasonable. There are so many excellent agents out there. We were looking to rent before buying because of our unfamiliarly with the area. In the next four months leading up to our move, Brian kept us up to date with the rentals that matched our criteria. They got it listed quickly and the offers came in as soon as the MLS listing was live. Apparently there were realtors with alerts when new listings post in desirable areas. Those Callaway's advertised our home using high-profile exposure and were successful in finding a buyer. Those Callaway's provided a full concierge service and allowed for payments of repairs to be paid upon closure of the sale. They also met the repair contractors at the home when we were unavailable. Those Callaways will tout the benefits of their 'team" approach. Don't be fooled. Daughter Kelly handles ALL the properties. The various team members only handle various administrative duties. Kelly has too many properties to give adequate attention to one. And if your property is under $750,000 forget Those Callaways. You will be given little time. Sure they may have a lock on prime newspaper advertising space and shown on Home Hunters, but face-to-face proactive actions to sell your property are non-existent. Marketing your home in the digital age, with that personal touch, is beyond Those Callaways capabilities. If you have a problem all you hear is excuses. They ignored me the first month my home was on sale, with no feedback. I purchased my home with Those Callaways 18 years ago, with them just in business for 2 years. That experience was good.
