It's been a few months since I've come in, but I wanted to wait until I had grown out my eyebrows and calmed down a bit. So let me share my experience with you all. I would really hate for any of you to experience what I did... I am from Boston and my favorite threader is there, so upon moving back to California, I was in the market for a new threading spot. I came in with my aunt and wasn't really planning to get my eyebrows done because I don't really trust anyone with them. But the girls at the front desk were very nice and said that I could just get a clean-up. Sounded harmless enough so I decided to go for it. I was paired up with a woman who I later found out was named Norelli. I told her that it was just a clean up and that I like to keep them thick. My aunt was in the chair next to me with Neeta and told me that she also heard me say that. I am East Asian so my eyebrows are naturally thinner and there is less hair to work with and I told her to be careful with taking off certain hairs on the bottom of my brow line. I thought I was thorough enough with my explanation of what I wanted so I sat back and let her have at it. When she was finished, I sat up and saw to my horror that she had taken off at least three rows of hair. Not only that, my brows were lopsided and totally uneven. I couldn't even speak because I was so shocked and upset. I just had to get out of there fast. Several things happened that should have been a red flag to me: 1. She never stopped in between to let me check the progress and ensure she was doing what I had asked. Don't most threaders do that? 2. I started after my aunt (who was also in for a clean up) and I was done about 10 minutes before her. So all I have to say is, avoid Norelli at all cost if you love your precious brows. I can't speak for any of the other threaders but she should not be on the floor working on people without enough experience. read more

Why has it taken me two years to walk thru their doors? I think it is their location. Having lived in Dublin over 25 years, I think this place deserves a better plaza to match its hip culture. The owner happened to be at the front desk. Him and his wife own the place. He was very nice and refreshing. Most spas and beauty places greet you with such a under enthusiastic, serious "uppity" attitude. I was a walk-in and it only took 5 minutes until I was in the hands of Lily! I walk into the back and its a full on waxing operation with chairs lined up for us "hairy" ladies. I surprisingly got Lily, who I read about on some Yelp reviews 10 minutes before going. She was gentle and amazing. My face does not feel on fire and I did not get a reaction. I forgot to mention it is a clean place. Then as I was laying there I notice myself tapping my feet to the great music they play-Kanye West, Usher, Ciara. It's definitely a new way of servicing the young clientele in thee area who also have beauty needs but refuse to pay for the kiwi in the water and sounds of fountain water. How drab! I waited a whole YEAR to grow my eyebrows to be reshaped after a terrible waxing at European wax center in CV. I really wanted to like this place, the girls all had nice brows and the place looked professional and clean. An older lady, Rita maybe? She didn't want me to know her name, did my eyebrows. She mentioned I had nice thick shape, I said yes I want them that way. She did one eye brow then to the brow that was massacred by the wax center, she balded my brow in the same spot the last lady did. Like she was tracing her shape. I'm devastated that I know have to grow my eyebrows out again. Then she tried to paint my eyebrows on with this black crayon thing, I didn't come in to have makeup done....ugh...it's just got worse and worse. Not only did she leave me with bald spots and thinner brows, when I left the next day I rubbed my eye and a huge area or eyebrow fell out? Is that normal??? This was my first threading experience! I've been wanting to check this place out for quite a while after reading the reviews on here, but because I live all the way in San Jose, I felt it was too far for me to drive there only for my eyebrows and lip. Yesterday I had a chance to stop by because I was heading to Sacramento and it was on the way. When I first came in, I was impressed by the look, ambiance, and cleanliness of the place. I was greeted by a man and woman on the register who told me to sign in. There were about 9 girls waiting in front of me so I had a feeling that I was going to have to wait for an hour. As I went and sat down at the end of the salon, I noticed at the back that there were like 8 threaders working (mostly young Americanized women in uniform shirts) on their clients on well-lighted beauty stations. I was like "WOW" now this is a real threading salon. After about 25 minutes of waiting, it was my turn. A woman by the name of Rita had me sit on a reclining chair and started the threading process. I had expected to feel some discomfort and pain but to my suprise, I didn't feel any pain at all. When Rita finished she had me look in the mirror to see if I was satisfied. I surely was because she was actually thorough and didn't miss any strands, which surprised me. She cleansed my eyebrows and lips with a cotton ball and applied soothing calming cream to the threaded area. The entire threading process for my eyebrows and lips at Threads took about 10 min. and it cost me only $12. At one place I've gone to, I've had both my eyebrows and lips threaded for $18 and the entire process took about only 2-3 minutes which was a painful rush because the estitician had over a dozen girls waiting. My eyebrows turned out nice but after several hours, I noticed that I had several minor cuts on my lids which was so not worth it at all. Another threading place I've gone to, I experienced unsanitary conditions which made me feel a lil uncomfortable. In addition, each visit would result in me tearing because of the pain. I was very impressed at Rita's work and the Threads establishment. I came to this place not having any high expectations at all. I give this place 5 stars because out of all the threading places I have been to, they are the cleanest, most organized, professional, and most of all, the only threading place where I didn't experience any pain at all. I really wish there was a threading place like this in San Jose. I plan on returning to Threads again if ever I find myself in the Dublin/Pleasanton area. read more

So I am now updating my review. not on the results of the threading but the place its self. Before when you walked in it was calm and relaxing. Now it seems that every time I come in here there are more and more products to buy and signs everywhere. Don't get me wrong i love to browse and buy little things but it just seems so overwhelming walking into this place. I noticed that I would stall going back in to get threaded and would wait even a month to go back cause it just feels like a headache walking in here now. I had my very first bikini wax experience at Threads a few months ago and recently returned for my second. The first time, there seemed to be a language barrier with the lady who performed the service. Although nice and understanding that it was my first bikini wax, she did very little to ease my anxiety or calm my nerves. Later that night, I checked myself out in the mirror at home to discover that it was totally uneven! The top border closest to my navel was an unsightly stepped line, so I had to correct it myself (which was traumatizing). Decided to give Threads and a different esthetician another chance. Most recent results: totally uneven again, but this time with weird jagged lines on all sides. I admit that I have no knowledge of the skill required to perform a bikini wax, but how difficult can it be to achieve straight lines? Isn't that the point? Doesn't everyone want straight lines for a clean, groomed look? I seriously doubt the ability of the two ladies who tortured my cha-cha for lackluster results. They will shape and rid of your unwanted hairs as painless as possible and you will leave with fabulous brows. Staff is kind and they except walk-ins. Is it possible to add an additional star? If I could, I would! I've been going to this place since I first reviewed it in March...every couple weeks or so. The last time I went (2 weeks ago) I had an appointment. When I got there they were so busy I had to wait about 20 minutes past my appoinment. I actually didn't mind because they are so good that I will wait. But when they took me they told me it was on the house because they had a mix up and felt bad for making me wait. After moving to this area, I had to find a new place to do my brows. When I used to work in this area 6 years ago, I remembered a friend from work recommended Threads. After trying a few other places in the area, I've always returned to threads; this is my go to place when it comes to having my brows done. Not only am I always satisfied with how my brows turn out everytime, it has the best price if you plan to do the combo (brows&upper lip for $14) I recommend coming on a weekday if you can as it's pretty packed. However, if you do plan on coming in during the weekend, make an appointment. Keep in mind, they do not reserve if you are planning on coming in within the same hour. read more

I've gone to Threads for four years now for threading (read my past review about threading), but recently went and got my first organic facial (at Threads, not first facial ever) from Chetna. SKIN HEALTH: It was an amazing and relaxing experience. Chetna is obviously very knowledgeable in skin health, and really truly cares about your skin's health. I have very acne prone skin and have been battling it for 10 years now. I have tried various prescription medications (topical & pills), ProActiv, and other OTC acne products. Nothing has worked. I wish I had made a facial appointment at Threads 4 years ago or whenever they opened. It's been four weeks since my facial and my skin is doing wonderfully. I've been using the some of the ayurvedic products that Chetna used during the facial and it's really working on my skin. It's not just the products that are clearing up my skin, but it's the facial that jump-started it all and the educational information that Chetna shared with me about what my skin needed (I'd been assuming and had been told by others basically the opposite of what Chetna told me... but guess who was right?? Chetna!) ORGANIC: I am in the 3rd trimester of my pregnancy and do not want my baby exposed to anything toxic (chemical based). The facials at Threads are 100% organic. I felt completely safe for myself & my baby by going to Threads. [Extremely] MATERNITY FRIENDLY: Another point about getting a facial here for those of you who might be pregnant. Chetna was extremely accommodating. When I made the appointment I spoke with her and told her that I couldn't lie flat on my back for very long (the weight of the baby makes me short of breath), so when I arrived to the appointment, she had the bed at an incline and extra pillows to help accommodate me and make me as comfortable as possible. Then throughout the facial she was great about checking in with me to ensure that I was comfortable. I really appreciated this great customer service. This review highlighted Chetna's services, but I've been threaded here many a times with various ladies, and I feel confident when I say that they are always looking out for your comfort, are friendly and talented at what they do. read more

I feel the need to update my review on Threads Beauty Bar since I have now been a regular customer for almost a year. I really like this salon! The service at the front desk is not exceptional but it is decent. They mostly meet my needs and if I have a problem, they fix it. The atmosphere is calming and professional. I come here monthly to get my eyebrows threaded. Today I also got my upper lip threaded for the first time. Eyebrows and Upper lip cost $12 without tip. My eyebrows always look great, all stylists I have had are very good at shaping. Some stylists seem more painful than others so I always request the same person when I come. I usually have to wait about 15-20 minutes since if you are requesting a specific stylist, you cannot make an appointment. As well as eyebrows, I also love getting facials here. I booked my first one because they had a deal going on. The facialist is very thorough and respectful. She spends a lot of time and attention on my face with extractions and exfoliating and other masks based on my needs. The face products smell very good. The best part is the massage of the arms and back. When I leave (and for weeks after), my face feels as good as when I pay $120 at a top salon, however, the price is much better. ($85?). All in all, Threads is on my list of favorite things about moving to this area. read more

I love this place. I've been twice now. Once, I had an appointment for bikini wax & threading. I got there a few minutes early and they took my in right away. It was actually a great experience. Very little pain (It was my first time for both). I came back a few weeks later for threading (it took forever for my brows to grow back!!!) and walked right in and didn't wait a minute to be taken care of! It's sooooo cheap too! $10 for brow threading and $25 for a bikini wax! I am moving next week, across the country, and I will miss this place quite a bit! read more

I just went in after seeing the great reviews on here and this place is amazing! The space is super cute and the front desk ladies are very welcoming and helpful. I was a Walk-in and was super happy because there wasn't a wait at all. I had eyebrow and upper lip threading (for the great price of $15) by Rajeshori who was such a doll! I prefer a thick natural shape for my brows and she listened to EXACTLY what I wanted. She does a very thorough job and I will definitely be coming back! read more

love this place for threading only. I usually go see HEMA who always does an amazing job for me. Iv done it with a couple other women but they always either cut me or thread my eyebrows to thin so no I strictly make my appt with Hema only. But thats just my preference. I rated a 4 because i decided to go ahead and try getting a wax there and I got my underarms waxed with ERIKA i believe her name is and she kept talking about how she is a master stylist there and that she use to work at the european wax center etc, she kept talking about herself the whole time. but according to her she was a "master stylist" so i felt really comfortable and she ended up hurting me by waxing the same area like three times my underarms were raw by the time she was done. After i had red marks in my underarm that didnt go away for around a week. i was so upset. so I go to a different place for waxing now. DO NOT GET WAXED BY HER! BEWARE overall Hema and the receptionists who are always so happy and friendly are the reason why i rated Threads a 4 i always leave extremely pleased with my eyebrows. read more

I usually go to Minnie and I went during my lunch hour it turned out Minnie was on her lunch hour too so they asked if I wanted Lily to thread me. I remember that she had GREAT reviews on yelp too so I thought Why the hell not. I love Threads! I always make an effort to come here when I am in the area even if my brows were just threaded a week ago. I've been here multiple times with different threaders and each time I leave happy. There are probably like 10 threading chairs in the salon and there is always a group waiting. I never have to wait more than 15 min for a walk in and the threaders are fast and efficient. $10 for brows and $12 combo with upper lip. read more

I usually go right around when they open up on a weekday and it's never busy. Lunch time and after work hours as well as weekends are crazy so I try and avoid that. I always ask for Neeta (sp) - I've gone to different girls for my eyebrows and not that they are bad but I really appreciate the time neeta takes and the job she does. Can I just say... WOW! Just came back from my first ever threading session with Puja (sp??) and i'm a believer. The place is decorated very nicely and i didn't have to wait at all. In fact, i was 15 minutes early to my appointment and they took me right away after i signed the clipboard thing. After confessing that i was a threading virgin, she showed me how the thread works by demonstrating on my hand. Then she started doing my eyebrows and after the first rip, my initial thought was... "thats' it??" it really didn't hurt at all! This of course, is a personal opinion, but i've had waxing done before, and compared to that it feels painless. Waxing feels just so intense with all that hair getting ripped out at the same time. The whole thing lasted maybe 20ish minutes (since she shaped my brows as well) and it felt very detailed. After my brows were nicely threaded, she rubbed some very nice smelling lotion on my brows. my brows by that time, felt very raw and the lotion eyebrow massage felt WONDERFUL. And for $10?? you SO cannot go wrong! love it!!! read more

OMG! I never had threading done in my entire life. And boy was it different. Uhh duh didi duh! It was different in a good way. Crazy, what are you thinking? Anywayz, I usually wax, but after today. I can say threading is da Shiznitz, aka GREAT! From the perfect lines too no ingrown hair and no plucking. I can say, "this place converted me." I got my eyebrow, lip and chin done for only $17.00. Damn, what a deal. They do exactly what you say, I said, "no rainbow please" and she did what I wanted. Clean and shaped it perfectly. The place was chic, trendy and cute. Plus they give you a mini eyebrow massage with some calming lotion after my threading treatment. Best place to get your eyebrows threaded. People are so friendly. Great customer service. Just got my hair cut by Erika, and I hate it. I've been letting my hair grow out and I asked her to do layers and she did but she did them on only part of my hair. So I look like I have extensions under a bob haircut. It's horrible. I called to get a refund and spoke with someone who was extremely nice and she gave me a refund over the phone. So I'm happy about that. But I don't recommend getting your haircut by Erika your better off going to super cuts. read more

I came here because of the great reviews I saw here on Yelp. I'm pretty much a threading virgin...I used to wax but after an incident with double dipping and also break outs I got grossed out and decided to try threading. The place is cute despite the fact it is located in a hotel room. The staff was very professional, and my esthetician was very nice! I've gone here consistently for the past year and the people are on the phone are ALWAYS friendly. I feel like that little aspect in a business can make or break you with customers. Mamta was the first lady I got and she spent a good 30 minutes on my messed up eyebrows. She only works on some weekdays though but she's AMAZING! She works with immense precision and care. I usually go on Saturdays now so Ashley does my eyebrows and she does a decent job but she's super fun to talk to. Plus, she's the only one that can do your eyebrows in a little semi-private room because she also does waxing. read more

Im a Esthetician and I envy people that can do Threading I've tried and failed lol. Its cheap ,fast, and leaves you with clean eyebrows! Don't believe it when people say it doesn't hurt it does, but they massage when they are done with a calming cream and that helps. I'd always see the little booths at the mall (which I found very awkward and uncomfortable) and decided to go try out this beauty bar. I initially scheduled an appointment for a wax, but the ladies at the front encouraged me to try threading, I was scared because it looked like it hurt.. uhm.. I WAS WRONG! Threading is the best thing ever! So relaxing, soothing, and you get the exact shape you want! OMG! DO NOT get a brazilian wax at this salon DO NOT. I only went there because I've read all these great reviews on yelp, But they didn't not mention any expiriences like the one I had. I've had brazilian waxes before so this was nothing new to me, I'm not uncomfortable being exposed to the person performing the wax, but the threads beauty bar brought me to tears. The waxer - not very experience and didn't speak very good english, THe room- no hangers, bad ambience The bed - stains on it, not sure from what, come on people buy new sheets You can tell she was either in a hurry or inexpirienced... lady you have to wait for the wax to cool properly, blowing on it and putting a wet towel over is BAAAAAAAAD and it HUUUUUUUUURT like HELLLL. And you have to peel a bit of the edge first before you rip otherwise you're ripping my skin. ouch I kept my cool until almost the very end but I knew I was about to burst into tears, and I did, I started crying and the woman noticed of course I wasn't quiet about it. Never coming back to them again! The person who did the threading completely ruined my face. I have got many facials and threading from different parlors before and this is my worst experience. This is how it all happened. I have an event to attend tomorrow so thought I would get my full face threading done. Went in and the person started saying I do not need full face threading and showed me spots where I did not need it so agreed and she started with eye brows, she did not speak a word before and did not show me how she did it in the mirror and soon after did my forehead, where she mentioned she would not do at the first place. I was thinking in my mind that probably she saw some hair and hence she was doing. She tried to have some conversation when doing my cheeks part and completely distracted me. I did not notice the blood spots on the eye lid, forehead and under my eyes until the very last min. She stood next to me completely innocent. You have to truly be specific about what you want, but they do a good job. Will definitely go again when it grows back, but I'm satisfied for the price and service. Why wax when you can thread?? =) I've been going to Threads since they opened in the Holiday Inn Express (which is only temporary, they found a space right across the street!) and I'm always a satisfied customer. Chetna and her husband really run a great business and have made it pretty successful despite them being in such a random location. Staff is always friendly and yup their prices are really really good (prices on their website). In my opinion, Chetna gives the best results for threading. I try to get her when she's available, but the other ladies are also good - so no worries. There's usually a wait, so its good to make an appointment. They take their time, but only because they're double & triple checking to make sure their work is Quality...which I think is why their client based has grown so fast. This is unlike Beauty Plus in Fremont, which does a rush job and sometimes feel like they just want to get people in and out as fast as possible. HOPEFULLY, prices will stay the same when they move to their new location. FYI: For you men out there... I've seen guys come in to get their brows done and goatees cleaned up.. so go ahead and try it out you're not the only one! lol. ;) Update: Prices are indeed increasing.... I absolutely love this place! You never need an appointment, and they always have a ton of talented ladies that can take care of you right away. You sign your name on a clipboard and before you can sit down, they call your name. These ladies are pretty quick but also very meticulous. My record time was eight minutes from the time I walked in the door to the time I got back in my car. I love the calming lotion they put on afterwards as well (if only I could figure out what they were using damn it!) It smells so good! If you want perfect brows, you can put them into the hands of any lady here and they'll do a fantastic job. They do not disappoint! Best part is, it's only $10 for brows. Threads has me hooked for life & I'm recommending them to all my friends! I'm never going back to a different salon if I can help it. read more

i was really hoping to find a great place for eyebrows, but NOPE. the front desk ladies weren't very friendly or helpful. it was my first time there, so i didn't know you had to sign in. i asked the front desk girl how long the wait was going to be for eyebrow threading, and then sat my ass down on the benches, and tho the girl saw me sit and wait, she didn't think to speak up and tell me "hey, you should sign in so we know to call your name!" i didn't realize i had to sign in until a lady came in after me and signed in. the threading itself was crap. i must have gotten the wrong person or something. i don't remember the girl who threaded me, but she was a young girl. i told her what i wanted and she seemed to get it...but after 5 minutes of threading, i walked out of there with uneven eyebrows. i had a better experience with the threading stand in the middle of southland mall in hayward. the girl who did my brows there hooked me up! so i was beyond disappointed with this place, both customer service from the front desk and the work done by the employee. i don't think i would ever come back again. read more
