Worst place and even worst customer service. I ordered drapes for my home and to this day they can't deliver a properly finished product. They are too long, too short, they wrinkle and don't open and closE smoothly. To top it off, Brenda has been rude and extremely unhelpful. I asked for my money back and was denied. I would give Threads a five-star review for its extensive selection if it weren't for their inconsistent pricing -- telling one person one price and another a different price for the exact same job. I shopped there today and purchased a beautiful fabric to cover my dining room chairs. The price was fair, however, I was quoted $45 per chair to upholster just the seat cushion (no disassembly or reassembly involved), when my son was quoted $25 per chair for the exact same job yesterday. I declined because I knew I was being overcharged. I had come to Threads today directly after a meeting dressed very nicely and must have looked like I could afford a higher price, whereas my son had gone there yesterday dressed in old, paint-stained jeans, an old hoodie, faded ball cap and scruffy face. If you shop there, dress way down and do not wear jewelry! read more

Brenda is so knowledgable and helpful; I told her what I need and in 10 minutes she found the perfect fit for me! Brenda & her staff are great! Such a nice selection of fabrics, vinyl, & leather. They really know their stuff & have great customer service! We have an RV...& wanted to replace the tacky curtains, reupholster the headboard in the bedroom & valances (over the window areas)...with some upscale durable finishes. Amazing place to get your fabric needs! First off, I just want to say that I am so happy that I found this place! My mom and I went in on a Saturday afternoon and we were so glad we went that day because it wasn't busy so we got to go around the shop and have a better look at the fabrics. The choices were excellent and it's very easy to navigate around the store. The fabrics were kinda grouped by shade so if you're looking to match fabrics, it'll be a breeze. We went in to purchase fabrics to be used as clothing for a life-size religious figure. Brenda is very helpful and very easy to work with. The prices range from cheap to really pricey but Brenda can slash some bucks off the tag price. She gave us an amazing deal on our fabric choices (don't forget to ask about the Yelp discount!) It's definitely a bit of a drive from my home in Chula Vista but it's definitely worth the trip! read more

They have an amazing selection, but I was extremely disappointed when they said they wouldn't take a return on the unused four yards of fabric that I didn't end up needing. I am in the middle of a remodel and looking to wallpaper a few rooms. I found Threads on yelp and called them to see if they carry a selection of textured wallpaper in the color black. The woman who answered the phone replied that she did not know and that they have 80 books of wallpaper. She then asked me what part of town I am in and I mentioned that it depends on the day. Her reply was - good, so you are used to driving around, it should be easy to stop by - we are on Morena. ??? Obviously I would plan to stop by to look at the wallpaper if you carry what I need, since I have a specific type I am looking for. I explain this and she said she is not sure if what I am looking for is in her books and that she isn't going to look through them if she doesn't even know if I am going to actually buy the paper. (Jaw drop) Then she proceeds to tell me she is very busy but I am welcome to stop by to look through her books (all 80 of them I suppose). Well, I am busy too, which is why I am calling to make sure I don't waste a trip to your store if you don't carry what I need. So you have some context, I called two other places and had a completely different experience. The last store I called said she had a book dedicated to textured wallpaper and had some animal prints, damask patterns, and some other geometric patterns. I stopped by and she had already earmarked 4 for me to look at. I picked one, placed my order and am a happy customer. I guess Threads is too busy to provide good customer service. Anyone doing a home remodel knows how stressful and time consuming it is. Threads doesn't seem to care about that little detail. Awful. read more

When I decided to check out this new fabric store to look for materials for some curtains I wanted to make, I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be to choose from their beautiful, and unique selection of fabrics. I felt like I was in a boutique environment and was given a lot of attention and wonderful ideas by the owner herself, Brenda, for the what I could possibly create using their large selection of fabric, and trim. Oh my gosh. Brenda and the crew at Threads is AMAZING. I literally cannot say enough, and wish I could express into words what a good resource they are, especially for designers. When you walk in, it seems as though they just sell wholesale fabrics by the yard. However, they are so much more than that. Brenda has been in the design industry for over a decade and has endless resources. I use her for so much: Yes...affordable basic fabrics, but as well, custom window treatments, upholstery of anything, building from scratch custom furniture (including leather furniture), and even custom shadow boxes. I gave her a picture of a high end mid-century modern leather couch that I client wanted and her crew built it from scratch for me!!!! I received such thoughtful and knowledgeable help in selecting fabric for my living room couch that I have to rave about the service I received. The selection of fabrics is astonishing. Care was taken to help me find a fabric that coordinated with existing upholstered furniture as well as an oriental rug. My husband and I recently went into Threads Etc looking for upholstery fabrics. They had many fabrics to choose from and Gloria was very helpful and friendly in assisting us. In fact, we asked that it be shipped directly to our upholsterer. It arrived in less than 10 days and I was extremely pleased with the quality. I can't tell you how much I appreciate this fabric store. They were truly life savers. I bought fabric here at a local store to create and footboard and headboard. Long story short this fabric store here in AZ no longer carries the fabric and I need 6 yards. I called the manufacturer and they gave me the name of a company that recently bought a bulk order. I called threads and they were SO HELPFUL! They took the time to find the fabric, they sent me a text picture to ensure it was the correct fabric and they mailed it to me here in AZ. I can't tell you how much this means to me. I have waited 3 years looking for the right fabric to create this headboard and It was also a birthday present to me from my husband. IT WAS JUST FABRIC it was completely the decorating of my master bedroom, it was making a headboard out of just the right material and wanting to match the footboard I already made. Threads appeared in my search so I call this store to inquire if they carry the specific fabric I am looking for. Give 1 star because girl who answers call asks for my name to address me properly and mentions she needs to write down what I'm specifically asking for. I'm not exactly "on hold" listening to elevator music so I can hear background noise. She returns and asks me what exactly am I using this material for. Is it a garment? I said no for a project. Another woman (from background noise) gets on phone and starts talking without introduction and continues to ask me what I need it for. Is it a garment? By this time I say yes because obviously you can use this material for a garment. How else can I refrain from telling her what I need it for? Inventors don't reveal their secrets. ;) She tells me that garment is the same thing as clothing and they have fabric for upholstery. What?!!! I thanked her and ended my conversation. Wondering if I had accidentally contacted a different business because from what I recall, they had five stars by reviewers. I found her comment to be extremely appalling because I clearly know what "garment" means. Allow me to add there are NO limitations as to what you can do with fabric. You may utilize it for the sole purpose of creating custom furniture and drapes but others may have extravagant ideas or simply other uses for it. We reside in CA so please respect the privacy of the customer by simply letting them know if you carry the specific fabric or not so they can continue their search if you don't have it. Don't make a costumer feel they need to specifically tell you what you plan to do with it! Creativity has no limit!!! I highly recommend my fellow yelpers' to take your business elsewhere. Threads indicates on yelp...We are San Diego's source for: fabric, leathers, trim, upholstery, drapes. I definitely don't agree that I was offered a great degree of customer service as listed.
