My wife researched drapery companies on-line and decided to call Pacific Drapery. Kathy came out last month (Nov. 2019) with a car load (not an exaggeration) of fabrics for us to choose from. Kathy narrowed the selection down based upon my wife's input, and the fabric was selected. Absolutely stunning! Shortly after Ivan, installer for Pacific Drapery, had finished installing the curtains, my husband, Dave, called me. He said they looked fantastic! This is our second time using Pacific Drapery. First was for our condo in Hillcrest which had floor to ceiling windows. Kathy recommended motorized window shades which were functional as well as very esthetic. We just recently moved to an Oceanside condo which had original bamboo window shades. Highly recommended. I had a special request for a room divider that would have the same material and look equally nice on both sides. In addition the material was quite heavy. Kathleen and the team came up with the way to make this happen, though it was not a standard curtain that covers a wall. Kathleen verified the measurements, made several suggestions and provided options for me to chose from. She also gave me practical tips about hanging the curtains. That really helped. I had a very loose idea of how I wanted my drapes and Kathleen sat down with me and went over all my options until we had something that was uniquely me. Kathy was not only on time and prepared with the information I had provided her, she helped suggest designs for curtains that improved upon the design I had in mind. I hate to decorate but needed new drapery and found Pacific Drapery through YELP. I sent photos of my house and explained the colors and patterns I liked. Kathy came over with a car load of books but only brought 5 to my home. They were perfect and I immediately found the two fabrics I loved. I know she would have spent hours or days if I needed that much attention, but I particularly loved that we accomplished the selection, measuring and pricing in about an hour. They were done perfectly and ahead of schedule. The installers were professional and fast. When 2 sections were a bit short, they took them back and returned that afternoon perfectly done. I was very disappointed in the experience I had with Pacific Drapery. I liked our old drapes in the master bedroom but they needed to be replaced. I called Pacific Drapery and when Kathy came to my home I explained I wanted everything to be the same, especially the shade of white. It was very important that this be right, since we had two very long walls of windows to be covered. She showed me a sample that she advised looked very similar and I went with it. When the new drapes were hung, I was surprised to see that instead of being white, they were a horrible rusty looking shade with an orange cast. As if rusty looking drapes wasn't bad enough, one panel had a thick black thread , one third down, running across the whole panel, very visible from across the room. Kathy came to see and said, "They look awful." Her words. Back the drapes went, and my old ones went back up. At this time I was told that not only would I lose my 50% deposit, but I was probably liable for the entire amount. I was asked to call the owner, since only she could make that determination. I called, and bottom line, I didn't have to pay the entire amount. But Pacific Drapery had my substantial deposit, the drapes, and I had nothing to show for it but a horrible experience. I have since had beautiful drapes made at another shop, and I would never go to Pacific Drapery again. read more

Almost three years later, I'm back at Pacific Drapery for another project. I had some fabric left over from my precious drapery project and decided to have three new roman shades made to replace my 15 year old Conran shades. Of course I only thought of Barbara at Pacific Drapery...I had a million questions and she answered each one! The finished product exceeded my expectations. My original plan was to install the shades myself but that proved to a bit more challenging...Although I did get one up! I called my friend Barbara and she sent out Ivan who installed the two remaining shades in about an 1/8th of the time it took me to put up one! I am a repeat customer of Pacific Drapery. They've customized my curtains and most recently, created a beautiful bedspread. All of the staff are very welcoming, creative, and competent - but the company's owner and president, Kathleen, leads by example. She is a kind soul and knows her stuff. If there is a more cost effective way of getting the project completed, it will be suggested. Nevertheless, I always feel that I paid for a quality product and that they are a principled company that takes pride in their work. I will always come back for any needs within their purview. I had an ok, unsatisfactory experience. I think they're overpriced, but I think it's the price you pay to get their beautiful fabrics. They have so many options that you probably will see something you like. Other than that, I don't see anything else that makes them stand out. They claim that their inner fabric is special because it blocks the heat and cold well, however, I doubt that it is any more special than the rest of the competitors. The cord that they use is cheap and plastic. I've seen other companies having better methods like for example, the curtains going up when you pull the cord in one angle and the curtain going down in the opposite direction. I should have done more research on different companies before we chose Pacific Drapery. I did like Kathy though. I am not sure if she is the owner, but she was informative and she was pretty thorough with the process. So one thing that went majorly wrong was when the service guy came to install our curtains, he installed the cords on 2 of our 4 windows on the wrong side! We had just hired another company to install window casings a week prior to contacting Pacific Drapery too, and our windows are huge so it's a big mistake. Each of our four windows is about 6 feet wide and nearly 8 inches deep, so the curtains were installed towards the front of the casing. We wanted it as close to the window as possible, and the 8 inch gap away from the windows definitely made our room feel smaller. We contacted Kathy and asked her about the cord placement because I recalled that she had made a note on it. She called us back and confirmed that we were right. She had to send the guy back again to fix the mistakes. They both were very apologetic about it, but guess what? THEY REFUSED TO PATCH UP THE HOLES THEY MADE! It's been almost a year since it happened and the holes are still there. :( Needless to say, we are not hiring them again to complete our other rooms. read more

Very disappointed with Pacific Drapery. I originally had an in depth phone consult with Barbara to have my existing drapes hemmed. She was very personable, knowledgable and helpful. I was provided a quote and drop off instructions. Covid happed and delayed my drop off. Upon calling to schedule the drop off, I was told the drapes need to be dry-cleaned before dropping them off, which I completely understand. So I took all my drapes down and dropped them at the cleaners and THEN they called me back to tell me the price is NOW MORE THAN DOUBLE THE ORIGINAL QUOTE!!! My initial contact with Barbara was great, she was very professional and a pleasure to work with. And the original pricing was fair and in line with other quality drapery companies I talked to. I chose PD because I was hoping to have the remainder of my window treatments made by them after getting these ones hemmed. My subsequent conversations were with an administrative person who had no answers to any of my questions and was not helpful at all. She was just a message relay person. I asked to talk to Barbara but was told she was not there... and no one else was available. I was very optimistic to work with this company. However due to the completely unprofessional treatment I received, I prefer to take my business elsewhere. read more

I'd like to tell you about the awesome shutters we purchased from Pacific Drapery, but unfortunately we have no idea what they look like. We had them come out in November, measure, and take a $4k + deposit. Never heard from them again. I tracked them down and was told "Oh, they called you last week. The shutters will be there in JANUARY." Umm...no one called to tell us that we would be without window coverings until January, no. For almost $10,000, you would expect some degree of customer service. We'll be the house with sheets on the windows until Pacific Drapery decides to eventually get our very expensive shutters together. I envy all of you with 5 star reviews. I found Pacific Drapery online and gave a few other businesses a call. My need was a bit unique, even Pacific Drapery haven't come across it. I called Kathy and she listened to what I needed and set up an appointment to come out and assess my doors. She wasn't 100% sure if the curtain rod would support the over-sized span of my door. I have a glass garage door in my living room that I wanted covered with curtains. She got an answer on the spot and before I knew it I was signing the contract. The Best! We needed to replace our store-bought, ten-year-old faded drapes and wanted something better to cover our large sliding glass door that gets solid afternoon sun. Well we've just had our new drapes installed and they are fabulous! We couldn't be happier. They are beautifully made in wonderful fabric with a thermal liner that lets in just enough light. They hang from a rod nicely and slide open easily and now we can open them individually. The color complements our room perfectly and actually make it look bigger - just perfect. Wow! Great work for my Kensington Home and my Boat! I have a house in Kensington with BIG windows and Pacific Drapery did a fantastic job of creating beautiful custom drapes. They had suggestions on special treatments and lining that made the drapes art. I also had some custom pillows and upholstery work done--all excellent. I then had them do some drapes for my boat. Many companies don't want to do this type of work because each window is different and space is tight. The drapes look good and work well--critical in getting boat drapes right. We highly recommend Pacific Drapery. Kathleen (Pacific Drapery Owner) and her skilled team created a STUNNING and clever black-out drapery application for our bedroom wall of windows for our downtown condo where it is noisy and oftentimes very windy making the process of creating an optimal drapery system somewhat challenging. Because of that strong cross breeze the drapes needed to be constructed in a way that they would not fly out onto the balcony. We wanted gorgeous drapes AND wanted to be able to open the sliding doors and have a way to tightly seal the drapes to block the light. To address the cross-breeze challenges Pacific Drapery came up with three solutions. First, they used rope-type weights inside the bottom hem. Second, they attached snaps to the leading edge of the drapes and installed reciprocal snaps in the wall so that the drapes could be snapped in place allowing us to enjoy an almost completely blacked-out room during daylight hours, when desired (ingenious!) (The snaps on the drape are hidden by a beautiful fold of the drapery fabric.) Third, they installed loops on the bottom of the drape into which we slide a long heavy weighted bar so that the drapes don't balloon out when the door is completely open. Pacific Drapery was especially helpful and patient in their willingness to meet with us to discuss some of these myriad elements. (They even came to our home to ensure that all of the bases were covered as we neared completion). We are happy to say that the end result was a one-of-a-kind, ingenious, beautifully constructed and handsome drape specifically tailored to our unique constraints ..........beyond our expectations. We look forward to using them for the next project. On a side note: One of their skilled seamstresses also created a small sample drape before the drapes went into production so that we could see if the pleating style would work with our bedroom decor. They were also more reasonably priced than the two other drapery makers that we'd contacted for quotes.....not to mention that every member of their team was helpful and pleasant every step of the way ! I had Another company do the first bid, and after they came to the house, we then had to go to the store to pick out hardware and get a "final" bid which was very different from the original. Kathy has everything you need to see and the bid is complete when she leaves your house. The installer came and did final measurements, quick and efficient, and then the lovely drapes were installed in two rooms a couple of weeks later.
