We had a tour/motel package with Yellowstone Tour & Travel. We stayed at the Three Bear Motel - not the Lodge. The room was quite clean. The lighting is poor and there are not enough electrical outlets. The wifi is not consistent. We could not hear anything from the adjoining rooms. I wonder if the rooms are soundproof. It was so quiet. The towels are not standard motel towels - they were very soft. There was a refrigerator and a microwave in the room. read more

Average experience for an expensive price. There is a difference between lodge rooms and motel rooms here. I was in the one story motel rooms - they were clean but very old with thin scratchy sheets and lumpy beds. Wouldn't go back. It was super close to the gorgeous park and close to shops. We stayed in the motel units and found them to be spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The outdoor pool was small but clean. We enjoyed having breakfast choices at the restaurant. Food was good and portions were a good sized. Staff was friendly throughout. Service was a bit slow at the restaurant. We enjoyed our stay and would book there again. read more

I did not stay here as it required a 3 night minimum stay, so please disregard the 3 star rating. The reason I am writing a review is because, if you're looking for a GREAT DEAL on walking sticks, they have one in their gift shop for $15.45. It has a strap of letter on it for grip and includes a reindeer bell to scare of the bears. :) Anyway, a great deal compared to the half the garbage at the gift shops. This is both a very functional and quality made stick that would make a good conversational piece. read more

Must say, I was pleasantly surprised! Welcoming us to the hotel was Jeremiah -- a very helpful, charming gentleman who was immensely valuable in finalizing our road trip plan through Yellowstone. (Good move #1 - cute, charming guy welcoming guests.) There has been a fire some time ago, so the main lodge has been completely redone. I travel A LOT so I tend to get a bit fussy about cleanliness, bedding, etc. Not a problem here -- everything was very clean and updated; decor was charmingly rustic and appropriate for the West Yellowstone location, but not over the top -- the kind of decor you might have for your vacation cabin... if you had one. (yea, me too!) (Good move #2 - clean and updated!) Location could not be more convenient for Yellowstone visits. (Good move #3 - location, location, location.) Compared to the other motels we passed by, this place is a true gem, and well worth the few extra dollars you might spend here over the questionable spots we passed by. Great place, everybody was nice, helpful and honest. After we arrived home after the trip, we got a call from their front desk. They wanted to know if we had forgotten an iPod in the room. Turned out my daughter's iPod was indeed missing. So, after confirming my daughter's iPod ownership we made arrangements for them to ship it to us. Great place to stay .....but please be white because that what real Americans look like. If anyone ever disputes white privilege treatment just get them to the three bear restaurant. Regardless fair is fair, the motel's front desk person who I think is their senior manager or lead is most accommodating. Except for one person at the front desk everyone went out of their way to make our stay great. The restaurant is another story... they will go out of their way to make other ethnic groups fell unwelcome. Food is decent for the price but service is most definitely not and the staff needs retraining. read more

This is the nicest motel I've stayed at. And at $78 for a single king, one of the most reasonably priced too. Downside: beds a little hard. Tip: take the blanket cover off. The motel rooms look the same as the hotel for $30 cheaper. read more

What a place! I expected this place to be a regular lodge but this place crossed all expectations. We booked a suite. The room was smaller if you compare with a regular suite but still worth it. This place serves amazing and fresh breakfast. Its 5 minutes drive from west gate of Yellowstone park. Must stay if you are visiting this area. Highly recommended. read more

I've stayed here a number of times, both in the Motel and Lodge sections. First thing you should know is that the Lodge rooms are definitely nicer than the Motel rooms, but this is reflected in the pricing. Their rates are a little pricier during peak season, but off-peak I'd say it is pretty cheap! During my last stay (just a few days ago) we spent 3 nights in the motel in one of the jacuzzi king rooms. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Our room came with breakfast vouchers for each morning we were there, which were a great way to start our adventure into the park. The hotel's location is perfect for me as it is close enough to walk to everything in town, but not so close that the tourist noise becomes a problem. The staff working there was friendly and we had zero issues. I will continue to make my reservations here as long as I am traveling to Yellowstone. read more

This was and is a great place to stay. The staff was superb and the rooms were grand. West Yellowstone is NOT New York or LA... It's rustic, fun and relaxed. I loved it, the lodge and the whole trip. We went with the snowmobile package and it was just perfect. We also took the snow-coach one day and the tour was a blast. Our guide - Laurie - a BIG guy, was a hoot. His knowledge of Yellowstone and the surrounding area was outstanding. Got a good insight on wolves as well. I think the price was very reasonable and the staff was fantastic. The lodge is located very near the entrance to Yellowstone NP and the whole staff went out of their way to make sure we were having a successful trip. There is a place to eat next door but there are also numerous dining establishments within comfortable walking distance. The room was comfortable and there are also two hot tubs to enjoy. Hot Tub water could have been a little hotter but maybe that was because of Government safety concerns? Anyway -- This place is a keeper and you would be well served if you decide to stay. read more

We happened upon the Three Bear lodge and restaurant by chance, and really glad we did! The lodge it's self is so cool! Mountain decor or whatever you call it, all log cabin style. The housekeeping, Joannie mans the front desk and she is so nice with a great since of humor and the restaurant is awesome! They give everyone in the room an 8 dollar voucher for a real breakfast in the real restaurant, and the food is wonderful! The owner/chef really understands how to make your stay above and beyond the norm! Can't wait to return next year! read more

I stayed here on the second night of my road trip. This place was a bargain of sorts compared to prices to stay inside Yellowstone Park. We had 5 people in our group, so they had a large enough suite to accommodate all of us. This place has a very interesting history; there's a mezzanine on the second floor outlining the evolution of this place and its sustainability practices. Accommodations were comfortable. I looked at the reviews and thought this would be a decent place. I knew it would be expensive to stay here because of its proximity to Yellowstone. I was right. They charged me $197. I was told that the room would not be in the lodge. This should have been a heads up for me. When we arrive, the room looked like it had been built in the 1930 and never updated. It was a 1 story motel. Their were a couple of rows of them. The parking in the front was so tight, I thought I was going to hit the building next to the parking as I drove in. I could just barely get my Toyota Van down the alley because of the door which was propped open next to the driveway. Watch out for all the positive reviews. They offer a 20% discount if you post a positive review of them. read more

Hotel vouchers for a couple bucks off breakfast instead of a complimentary breakfast was not exciting either. Beds are very uncomfortable, springs can be felt through the mattress. My wife's back hurt after one night. The breakfast that comes with the room is only acceptable because it is free. The hash browns were freezer burnt all three times we ate them. Hot tubs were clean and enjoyable. read more

We stayed here in the summer of 2010 when out for a family wedding. Almost went to a well know name hotel chain and then remembered reading a review in a guide book and checked out this place. Check in desk people were very friendly and the rate was the same as the natl cracker box chain. As we discovered, this place has real character!! One of the original, if not THE original hotels to combine snowmobile tours with lodging. A fire years ago consumed much of the original building, so it's been rebuilt to modern standards, BUT, much of the furniture, inside trim and other pieces have been reused from the original wood. WOW, is that cool and very environmentally aware. The beds were big and comfortable and the bathroom was huge!, making it easy for my family to get showered and ready. The restaurant right next door had good food at reasonable prices and had fair for everyone even my picky eater. What can I say..we showed up with no reservatiion, hungry and tired and were treated great and slept well. I want to come back in the winter and do a tour. Not worth the cost. I drove from Portland, OR to 3 bear lodge in 13 hours. When I arrived the staff was not rude, but not nice. The room was nice spacious and tastefully decorated. However, I came to west Yellowstone to visit Yellowstone national park not live in my hotel room. To be blunt, sleeping in that room sucked. The bed was not comfortable and the pillow kept my head at a 90° angle and was not forgivable. I got a coupon for their restaurant. That also was OK. But over-hard means hard not gelatinous... and hash browns should not be black. The biscuit was good though. Overall, save some cash stay somewhere else, its not worth it read more

My family and I chose this lodge for the experience of local flavor and while it doesn't have the modern look and feel of a Holiday Inn, the staff were pleasant and the beds were comfortable. We did not stay in the main lodge but in the more affordable "motel" section at the back of the facility. The rooms are clean and updated but nothing fussy. Just what we needed to crash at night after long days in the parks. A complete dissapointment! Our room smelled like urine and due to this I spent the night wide awake. when we tried to switch rooms to a more ventilated one, they were incredibly rude and refused to even give us a dicount for our discomfort. Although we had been very clear that we get a non smoking room, it seemed as though they had switched all the non smoking signs around the night before. I vowed the minute I got home I would post a warning up on Yelp, so here it is! It deserves 0 stars, however it is mandatory to have at least one, so that is the only reason it got any at all. Overall, the only reason anyone would enjoy staying here is if they also found happiness in sleeping in toilets, breathing in smoke, and paying 4 dollars for an apple at the The Three Bear Lodge Restaurant. read more

We stayed in room 104, it was great. Super comfortable bed, spotless bathroom, great rustic furnishings. Prices were a bit higher than average, but quality lodging in a town that pretty much shuts down in the winter months is worth it. There is a pool, but it's under snow and ice in the winter, I don't believe there is an elevator, so inquire before booking if you have mobility issues.Very professional and first rate service. read more
