    Spicy chicken sandwich and fries

The SPOT to go to on 151. After trying everywhere this is the most consistent place for food and drinks. This brewery is one of the best places you will go. It has a large outdoor area outback as well! Definitely will return!

    Spicy Mango Margarita. MUST TRY!

This place is just awesome. Outside seating is great. Servers are great. We were there last Saturday. 1pm. I got the Chicken Parm sandwich, which was excellent. My wife got the Shrimp and Grits. It was also good. The hit of the party was the Spicy Mango Margarita. We had several. So good! Give this place a try. Come early, as it gets crowded quick.

Hubby had a beer flight and a marg for me. The mountains were from our cabin views.

Always a 5 star visit to Three Notched! Delicious food, potent drinks and friendly staff with a festive atmosphere. The outdoor area is chill, not too overwhelming. We were blessed with beautiful weather this trip. Well behaved doggos welcome!

The exterior of Three Notch'd Nellysford! Beautiful property.

This is truly a hidden gem in the little mountain town of Nellysford! In the area for a day at Wintergreen, we were looking for a fun place to dine. We walked in and were immediately seated by a friendly and attentive employee. We ordered water (we are not alcohol drinkers) and just want to say: that water was delicious! It tasted like it was fresh from a mountain stream. For food, we ordered handhelds- two scrumptious hamburgers that both came with a surprisingly abundant side salad. The Minute-Man Marinated pickles were so salty and yummy on the saucy burger, and the honey mustard dressing for the swas among the best I've ever had! Portion sizes were great- more than decent amount of food for price- and the price was good as well. They served our food in a pretty fast manner considering how specific we had made our orders. Additionally, the enclosed patio seating was wonderful! Pretty mountain views surrounded us, and we greatly enjoyed looking at the fish pond, mini "gristmill", and more as we ate our burgers. If it had not been chilly and misty, we absolutely would have gone for a long walk around all the awesome decor- like a Virginia is For Lovers sign and more! If you are in the Nellysford area looking for a memorable spot to eat, THIS is the place. (But come early- it gets crowded quick!)

    Charming patio area!

This has become our "go to" when I visit the area. Beautiful outdoor seating with a koi pond (please don't feed) with smooth pea gravel for easy walking to your table. Ample indoor seating as well. Varied menu; cocktails, beer and wine; and a delightfully professional staff. And the littles in your party get coloring sheets AND BRAND NEW CRAYONS!!

40 Mile Philly w/Mushroom Demi Glaze and side salad

Cool spot with nice outdoor seating area. Beers were pretty good (I ordered a couple of King of Clouds IPAs), but the Philly sold me. It might have been a little salty, but I really enjoyed it and the portion size was great. At this point, I can't remember which salad dressing I ordered but I remember enjoying the salad also.

TLDR: Wonderful brunch service with excellent food and great staff. Come for the beer, bourbon cocktails and generously portioned pub food. Vibe: 5/5. Located on the long stretch of road home to a dozen breweries, wineries, cideries in Roseland, VA, Three Notch'd offers brewery hoppers a great place to grab a bite between pints. The restaurant sits on a large property that not only houses the main beer hall style restaurant, but a gift shop, axe throwing, a playground and an outdoor patio w/ lawn games. This in itself makes Three Notched a great place to spend a few hours to break up the brewery crawl monotony. Inside the beer hall, they have both ample bar seating as well as sit down tables for groups both large and small. Service: 5/5. The staff at Three Notch'd did an amazing job in catering to our large group of 21 hungry campers. I reached out to Three Notched a few weeks prior to our brunch date inquiring about a large group reservation. The sales and events manager, Dalton, was quick to reply and got us squared away for brunch. Fast forward several weeks later, we arrived promptly at our 12:30pm time slot and the staff had all of our tables ready to go, with fresh pitchers of ice water poured out and waiting. Our server did a fantastic job keeping up with the demands of our large group, taking a barrage of drink and food orders with ease. Props to both the kitchen and bar staff who were able to get all of our food out quickly and relatively at the same time, a challenging feat with a group this size to say the least! Food/Drinks: 5/5. We loved every bite! Three Notch'd has a well thought out menu of elevated bar food with a hint of southern flair. Both the beers on tap as well as the bourbon cocktails were creative and well executed. One particular cocktail, the Smoked Apple, used their bourbon combined with a blend of spices and apple butter to create a wonderfully tasty libation. On the food front, all dishes were generously portioned and hearty in nature to stand up to even the booziest of afternoons. We loved the flaky fish and chips as well as the perfectly cooked burgers (both the mushroom Swiss and pimento varieties). Price points ranged from $12-25 per entree, which we felt was reasonable given the portion sizes (we all left with to-go containers). Overall, I highly recommend making a stop at Three Notch'd part of your Roseland, VA brewery crawl!

Food was great! We have eaten here before at the Charlottesville location and loved it. My husband got a chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The service was great and the waitress was very kind helping us decide on drinks. We sat outside since it was extremely nice out and the front patio is really relaxing.

This is where Love begins and ends!

But the beer had other ideas. As expected, it was excellent--cold, confident, and clearly in no mood to be rushed. Everything was clean and orderly. The burger arrived and did not disappoint. Honest, well-made, the sort of meal that reminds you why you ordered it in the first place. My wife's brisket sandwich, meanwhile, was everything brisket ought to be--tender, rich, and just indulgent enough to feel like a reward rather than a mistake. Fries came alongside, hot and crisp, doing their job without complaint or ceremony. And then, on the way out--as these things tend to happen--we stopped at the bar. That's where we met Vance. What followed was less a quick cocktail and more a conversation with drinks attached. The cocktails were excellent, but the company made them memorable. Vance makes a great adult beverage. All in all, Devil's Backbone isn't just a place to eat and drink. It's a place where a simple plan quietly turns into a better evening than you expected.

We visited around 3:00 p.m., well before the dinner rush, so we weren't expecting service delays or other issues. Unfortunately, the food was bland, overly oily, and significantly overpriced for the quality. We used to come here regularly and always enjoyed it, but it just isn't what it once was. The dining area was also uncomfortably warm, as the air conditioning didn't appear to be on. The only relief came when the kitchen door opened. Service felt rushed and impersonal as well--we were greeted with a curt "Where do you want this plate?" when our food arrived, which didn't make us feel particularly welcome. The property itself remains a lovely place to spend some time outdoors, but based on this visit, we wouldn't recommend it as a destination for dinner. We hope the restaurant can return to the level of quality and hospitality it once offered.

I had been excited to visit this restaurant since hearing such great things about it - it did not disappoint! The menu changes daily so check the website to ensure you like what's being offered. Most often you will. All entrées are served with a salad and bread, and the same sides of a starch and vegetable. This Saturday night I had the yellowfin tuna and it was so tender and cooked perfectly. M husband had the chicken, and while he does not prefer chicken thighs he really enjoyed his meal. We enjoyed a glass each of "house" Pinot noir and since wine is what they do very well it was a great choice since we didn't want a whole bottle. The ambience is country comfort and the service was charming and welcoming. This is after all a small town; the food quality was fresh and delicious. Will be back, and next time with friends.

I was already not in the mood for anymore drinking after spending a weekend in a major tournament in Lynchburg. Anyways, for a Saturday evening, this place was pretty packed both inside and outside. They just do them all very slowly or at least they did when I was there. We came here on a Monday evening, and it was somewhat busy but there were visible empty tables and a couple spots at the bar. We went to the bar and waited awhile before the bartender asked what we wanted. I didn't ask for a flight because he seemed too busy. Whatever I wanted they were out of, but I ended up with an Imperial 16-point IPA which was quite tasty. I also got some chicken nachos, but I had to go stand in line to order them. They were adequate but not worth the wait. The place was very disorganized. They had workers always standing by the hostess desk, but the bartender was overwhelmed. Seemed like they should have had more than one, after all it is a brewery. Would have loved to try more beer but we just left and went back into Lexington for another round at another place. I don't know maybe it was just a bad night.
