I purchased my VW Taos in 2024 at Three Rivers VW and was beyond excited. My salesman was great and I left feeling really confident in my decision, as this was my first VW. What I wish I had know then was how little the dealership or "corporate" cares about their customers. This past January, I brought my car to my local Autobody (VW dealership is too far for me) for my yearly inspection. The Autobody called me immediately and told me that my brakes did not pass inspection. They found this odd since my car had less than 20k miles and was just 2 years old. They called the dealership for me to order new brakes and while on the phone, somehow it luckily came up in conversation and the VW employee told them that this specific model had an extended 2 year warranty BECAUSE OF THIS EXACT ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES! He informed my Autobody to have me schedule an appointment with the dealership ASAP in order for me to get this covered. I immediately called the dealership to schedule. A friendly woman answered. I explained the entire situation, gave my name, car model, etc, and I specifically asked "i want to confirm this is covered under the warranty before I bring it out there?" She answered "correct" and said "you're all set." I drove my car out to the dealership to drop it off. When I checked in, I again said "I just want to confirm that is covered under the extended warranty" because it still felt too good to be true. The employee said "yep. 2 years or 24k miles. Let me just make sure." He then gave me the insane news- "you missed the deadline by 2 days." I couldn't believe it. I said "what do you mean?" He said "you are 2 days over 2 years since you bought your car." I then asked "why was I never notified about the issue with the brakes? I would have brought my car in immediately." And his response was "we don't have to notify you, it wasn't a recall. It was just a warranty extension" to which I responded "because you knew the brakes were bad and had issues," and he responded "well yeah." 2 days passed my 2 year mark. Significantly under 24k miles and my brakes were shot. VW offered to do NOTHING. They showed no sympathy. They had incredibly poor communication, and perhaps the first two employees just didn't even listen or actually check my file to see if it would be covered before I took it out there. Three different employees giving three different responses with the wrong information. I wasted half of my afternoon driving out there for nothing, having to reschedule work meetings and coordinate a ride home, all for nothing. The manager then just continued to blame "corporate." He said if they fixed my brakes under the warranty two days late, they'd have to eat the cost. "Corporate" would not allow it. I'd assume if I was a family member or a friend, or perhaps someone who buys more expensive cars from them, maybe he'd think differently. He just continued to say it was "corporate" who was at fault and "corporate" who would never make an exception because of money. He reiterated the fact that they'd lose money if they helped me and that corporate would make them "eat the costs," so very clear that money is their main priority. Not their customers, not the quality of their product. I have never left a review for anything before. And I'm fully aware there are rules and that my car was indeed 2 days past qualifying for the warranty. My purpose in writing this is to let anyone considering buying a VW know that once you give them your money, they don't care about your safety or well being. The fact that they were aware of brake issues in this model, yet they didn't notify their customers??? The fact that 2 employees told me I was "good to go" and would be covered, and a third employee defended VW by saying "we don't have to notify you." And "well yeah" when I said "but VW was aware of faulty brakes," is really concerning to me. If I could do it again, I would look elsewhere. I would look for a dealership that is honest, and truly cares enough about their product's reputation and their customers safety. read more

It was essentially a cash deal so simple for them. I made it a little more complicated than it might have been but they were patient and very accommodating. They held the car for several days while I got everything together on my end with a simple and refundable $500 deposit. Pricing was right in the middle of the market for a low-mileage car with a clean car fax. (Mazda CX-5) Great dealership and Bobby M was chill and easy to deal with, I could not recommend 3Rivers Volkswagen more highly than any car dealer I have ever bought from over the years anywhere. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and they always go above and beyond to take great care of my 2015 Jetta that I got at this location. I drop off the Jetta , the shuttle service takes me to work, and I come back to a freshly washed and perfectly maintained ride. I love that if I ever need a service that may take more than one day, they give me a loaner car so I'm not without! Sales Manager Vince Luca told me to contact him Wednesday regarding credit information from my sister and I and to put $500 down to reserve the car. Bobby said on Tuesday while Vince was off that he didn't want to steal the sale from Vince so I waited until Wednesday morning. Bobby said they would hold the car for 24 hours for me to put my down payment $500 until Vince returned today. Only to find they sold the car last night while Vince was off! My grandson bought a used Jetta (2010) for $6000. 8 days later the radiator was cracked and he took it back to the dealer and they wanted to charge him over $800 to fix it, but said they'd do it for $700 since he just bought the car. He had it towed from the dealership and is having it repaired elsewhere. 8 days after paying cash, which he saved long and hard for, he has a broken, undriveable vehicle from this dealership! So disappointed in the service department. Took atlas in for a state inspection and they found a nail in the tire. They said they would not pass inspection because of the nail. They said I need 4 new tires and an alignment. Costing 1,800 and they had to fill my tank to make the alignment right. When I said no they said they are failing the inspection because I need a new tire. Which they could have plugged it and said they can't because of the angle of the nail. However, they called back and said the technician could try to fill the hole but if it didn't work they would have to put on a new tire. I was skeptical of this because how would I know if they even tried or just wanted a sale. I said I will take it back and have my husband fix the nail. They then said my next inspection would not be "free" because according to them it failed. Very very disappointing. I know business is slow and they need money but don't try to take advantage of people. I will not be going back there unless there is a recall. Beware of being scammed by them. read more

May I suggest getting a general sales manager that isn't completely dismissive of customers' problems? I felt extremely disrespected by Patrick Hucic's demeanor when I called. I was promised a cash price on a vehicle before it went through the shop. The vehicle ended up needing more work than they had originally thought. Ok. I understand, but as I said before, there was a specific promised price "for the car, and I had even scheduled to take delivery of the vehicle (meaning I've gotten my insurance in place, scheduled the return of my rental, etc.). After this unfortunate information was relayed to me, I waited to be presented with a solution. Did Patrick reach out to rectify this situation? No, even though he could have easily gotten my contact information from his staff. Did he offer any solution to the problem at hand? No. did he say that he didn't want to pass the blame for this oversight? Yes. But, in his next breath, he stated that this was a result of his staff making a mistake? Yes, which sure sounds like passing the blame to me especially after I had the most positive experience with my sales representative, who completely went out of her way to find answers for every question I had. So, I find that hard to believe. Perhaps, if I had been treated with more respect, I would've considered the new price for the vehicle, but he never presented that option or any options for that matter. I feel utterly horrified by his behavior. Thanks for a whole lot of nothing, Patrick. You would have lost only $2,000 for your mistake, but instead, you've completely lost all of my business. We purchased a used minivan from Three Rivers Volkswagen at the end of 2019. Five days later, it broke down while I was driving with my kids in the van on the highway. We had it towed their shop and they quoted me a discounted rate of $600 to repair the started. Less than two weeks later, the check engine light came on. We had it diagnosed at their shop and was told both catalytic converters needed replaced. We were quoted a discounted rate of $1,300 to repair. Unfortunately, due to life circumstances (and the fact that we just paid for this vehicle with cash less than 30 days prior), we weren't able to afford that at the time. After we saved money, I called in late May to ask if the quote was still good. I was told it was still good. A few days later, I called to make an appointment. About three minutes after I schedule the appointment, I received a phone call from the service center telling me they wouldn't honor that original quote. So, to recap: In late December, this dealership dealership sold me an unsafe vehicle, slapped an "as-is" sticker on it and washed their hands of any consequences. Five days later, they offered a steep discount to repair the first major issue, which put my life and my children's lives in danger on the highway. Two weeks after that, they offered a discount to repair the second major issue. They agreed to honor that discount when we called but then rescinded that discount because "the price of the parts went up." I emailed and left a voicemail for the owner of the dealership and haven't heard back. Please do better. read more

I went to have my car serviced for a clicking noise in my front end. When I arrived they informed me there would be a $110 diagnostic fee but they didn't tell me this before I got there and had driven 40 minutes to get there. I was upset but really felt this would be covered under warranty and I then wouldn't have to pay the diagnostic charge. But of course they couldn't recreate the noise and found nothing wrong other than the strut boots had come loose and they wanted to charge me to reconnect them even though I feel that is a manufacturing defect but they said that it was my fault because I lowered the car a half inch which is completely ridiculous. So since they were unable to do their job and find the problem I had to pay $116. This is complete bullshit and HIGHLY recommend no one ever using them for anything. My opinion is backed up multiple times by other reviews it just sucks that I wasn't smart enough to read them myself until after I got bent over and screwed as they smiled. Purchased a 2016 Tiguan and the gave a me a great deal on my trade in. The purchase went very smoothly and was super easy. However, I was told they would do a complete maintenance service on the vehicle before I picked it up. I later found out by my father, who happens to be a master mechanic, that they did not service anything but the oil. We discovered the car needs new rotors and brake pads, coils and spark plugs which will cost me well over a $1000. The warranty doesn't cover any of these items because they are considered normal wear and tear. Very disappointed with the dishonesty. Don't think I'll think I'll be purchasing another vehicle from this dealership and I encourage you not to either. read more

I have to give Three Rivers VW credit. This was one of the smoothest car buying transactions I've ever had. I hate playing games with dealerships. While this isn't a no-haggle shop, they are very forthcoming and honest. They didn't try to lowball the crap out of my trade in and hope I'd bite. They were fair and honest about their pricing. Most importantly, you have to ask for Tim Bombash. Tim was the salesman who helped me. He was an incredibly friendly guy. It also really felt like he was on my side and fighting to get the best deal for me. But seriously, Tim is the man. I'd highly recommend him and the entire dealership. This place is horrible. There was a recall for my car to get a timing chain fixed and my car was under full warranty. I had brought in a existing piece of paper from another Volkswagen dealer saying my timing chain needs chained. THEY DECIDED TO CHARGE ME 116 for them looking at the timing chain that is under warranty & then THEY DIDNT EVEN CHANGE IT!!! they said they have to do there own investigation on my timing chain because they can't just trust anybody. I didn't know other people who work for the same company is just anybody. Not to mention I had lights on on my dash. End of story my timing chain didn't get fixed and I got charged 116 but I got that voided real quick. So don't come here. DO NOT USE THEIR PARTS AND SERVICE!!!!!!!!! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE And I believe (although I cannot prove) that they screwed up my new car. I took my 2017 Jetta to 3 Rivers for routine servicing/oil change. Immediately upon leaving, I noticed a dramatic drop in gas mileage and that the the car was running extremely roughly, like a jeep. AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AT 3 RIVERS, MY CAR NOW HAS SIGNIFICANT, UNEXPLAINED PROBLEMS WITH ROUGH RIDE AND GAS MILEAGE. But that is not all ... I called the service manager I dealt with, Chelsea. She danced a jig for me about diagnostics they would run, that made no sense. It was clear she did not know what she was talking about. I also suspected that she was aware of the actual reason for the sudden drop in performance of my car while it was in their shop. I began to suspect that something had happened to the car while it was in their shop that they had not disclosed to me. This suspicion would be heightened later. So I called the owner, John Bauer. He was nice and helpful. He referred me to the parts and service director, Derrick. I explained that I now had two issues: (1) I needed the problem that arose while the car was in their shop diagnosed, and (2) I needed an inspection. We specifically chose a time when I could get an inspection sticker out through the end of April and at the same time do some diagnostics on why the car has been SCREWED UP since they changed the oil We agreed on a specific date. Here is what happened: (1) They did no diagnostics across two days of having the car. They looked at the tires, drove it and nothing else. Then they said, "oh it is uneven wear on the tires and when they were rotated it caused the rough ride." This is BS. Anyone with a whit of knowledge about how cars handle would recognize that that is not a valid explanation. This further elicits my suspicion that they know what happened while the car was in the shop to cause the rough ride and loss in gas mileage, and they are to attempting to cover it up by trying sell me the story that wear on the tires (after 30,000 miles) is causing the car to drive like an off road vehicle and lose significant gas mileage. (2) They put an inspection sticker for a full two months ahead of when the date they would give me the sticker for. So... said one thing and just did another. Failed to follow through on what they said they would do. (3) Somebody who works there simply failed to process paper work in a timely so I could not pick the car up at the appointed time and had to come back again the next day. These people talk a good game, but they are incompetent. YOU SHOULD NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CAR. (By the way, have you noticed that most of the positive reviews here about 3 Rivers are vague and similar in tone .... hmmmm ... wonder who is writing them????) read more

They are incompetent at service. I brought wheels in under a wheel insurance claim since they were bent, they took care of that. Unfortunately they mounted the tires wrong when I marked the tires "INSIDE" when I took them in so that they could return them properly. Guess what clearly the mechanics cant see or maybe they cant read. Im going with see since the valve stems were exposed with no caps on them. These are unacceptable errors, I cant imagine what they would do on engine work. Probably try to put rod bearings in the mains or something stupid like that. I recommend they send there sub par mechanics to get there vision checked, then have them take a reading test, then run them through some training to make sure they actually know the information required to do there job. read more

I've only had one experience with this dealer. I recently got a used 2009 Tiguan and knew I needed a new intake manifold, so I called all of the dealers in my area and decided to go with Three Rivers, because of the price. I was quoted $817 for the service. I dropped off my car on the night of the 4th, and was told it would take a day to finish. Later, on the afternoon of the 5th, the service manager called me and said they would need to keep the car for 3 days and also quoted me $260 dollars more than I was originally quoted. But the dealer is an hour away from me and I didn't have time to go up there, so I waited the three days and came in on the 8th and found out that the work hadn't even been started on my car, and they would need to keep it for another day. Because of this issue they brought the price down to what I was originally quoted, so I waited an extra day and picked up the car on the 9th. When I picked up the car, my radio no longer worked, and the airbag and parking break check light were both on. They told me that just to get the lights turned off so I could pass inspection was $115, or I could just drive the car for 50 miles. I've driven the car around all day, and those lights still have not turned off. read more

Within minutes I received a call back from Chiara letting me know the car was still for sale. I went to Three Rivers Web site and applied for their financing. This was around 10:15 AM. After 4 hours of not hearing back from Three Rivers I emailed them and they said they received my app....thinking to myself thanks for calling me back. I was asked if I would be going to the dealership to pick up the car. I explained to them I would fly into Pittsburgh to pick up the car and drive home to AZ. I had already checked into flights and was waiting on Three Rivers to book the flight. I never heard back from Three Rivers VW. Being in customer service myself I don't make customers chase or bug me to get service and I don't shop at places like Three Rivers VW that makes me bug them to buy a car. After around $3k in repairs I was told that the engine on my Passat needed to be replaced. Had they diagnosed it properly in the first place, I would not have needed to have all of the other "repairs" done to "resolve" the issue the car was having. They said it was "fixed" on the 1st visit, then the car acted the same way, took it back within a week, more repair$ done. Drove a few days, same issue, took it back, more repairs done, more money for them...same issue after a week of driving, took it back and finally told "engine will need to be replaced"!!! Then when I called to ask a question about some of their charges and repairs, was told they would "get back to me" the next day. Never did. Called again, left message, still no reply. Called again after TWO WEEKS of not hearing from them and still never able to speak to mechanic, had some woman that gave me a dismissive answer in a condescending tone. Worst experience ever! I wasted money on repair work that was more or less a guessing game for them and in the end was told all of that work was nil basically, since the entire engine needed replaced for which they wanted another $8-$9k for!
