Biscuit made in house
Dena W.

Sippin' & Spillin' Sunday: The Piña Colada Cold Brew Catastrophe Today's Sip & Sunday was... a hot mess. Literally. 96° outside and STILL got served cold brew chaos We finally made it to Three Ships after last week's oceanfront madness -- and I had high hopes. Tried their Piña Colada Cold Brew (cold brew + pineapple juice + coconut cold foam) and y'all... the acidity made the foam CURDLE. Like actual curds floatin' in my cup I took one sip and said "absolutely not." Then I gave their Banana Hammock Latte a shot. Cute name, but not the flavor. Too much milk, not enough coffee, and when I asked if it could be made with cold brew instead? They said nope -- no menu changes allowed ‍ Even the biscuit, which they make in-house, was a no from me. Heavy, not flaky, just... meh. But the worst part? Another spot we tried before that wasn't even dog friendly. Huge "NO PETS ALLOWED" sign on both doors. So Lexi had to go back to the car, AC blasting, while it's nearly 100° outside. That broke my heart Best part of the day? The kind girls working the counter and the beautiful café interior. But both coffees hit the trash FULL. Not even two sips in. Wasting money on mid coffee and being turned away with Lexi? Not a vibe. #SipAndSunday #BougieBTReviews #VirginiaBeach757 #HamptonRoadsEats #7CitiesFoodie #LexiTheBougieBT #BostonTerrierTikTok #DogFriendlyPlease #TooHotForThat #CoffeeFail #TikTokHonestReview

Chocolate peppermint latte on top and caramel pumpkin pie latte on the bottom.

I'm not a huge coffee person, but I met a friend here to talk over coffee and breakfast and it was VERY good. Nice quaint location and friendly baristas in a really cool building. In the back, they have what appears to be space for some classes or something. I got the caramel pumpkin pie latte and it was absolutely fantastic. I would drink more coffee if it all tasted that good!

Raspberry latte that is only seasonal sadly

Pros: This place takes a lot of pride in making things fresh and in-house, from their biscuits and pastries to their syrups. Plus, they source their coffee locally and even roast it themselves, which adds a nice touch of quality and care. Cons: They have a set menu that changes monthly or seasonal meaning you can't customize drinks or order past favorites once the menu rotates. While this keeps things creative and seasonal, it can be frustrating if you find something you love and can't get it again. Unfortunately, that was a downside for me, so I likely won't be returning. Also, it is on the pricey side.

Super cute inside - weird location in a corporate office park. Looked closed from the outside so they may want to get a sign for the door, almost drove away. They only do light roast coffees and it really shows. The pumpkin spice latte was very acidic and bright, not much spice. The biscuit was very crumbly and more dense cakey texture instead of flakey. The oatmeal crème pie cookie was super hard and overly sweet. I took a few bites and stopped. Coffee bean prices range but I enjoy you can see the roast date and can get it ground in person. The staff member wasn't super knowledgeable and a customer had to chip in with their opinion when we were asking for suggestions. She was very friendly though.

Such a cute spot! I enjoyed my coffee with their peaceful and beautiful decor. Make sure to try out their pastries as well, the Spinach and Feta croissant was quite yummy! Crispy outside and soft inside! The ladies who worked this morning were very accommodating and gave us recommendations. This place has very authentic chai tea latte, sweet and spicy! I ordered the seasonal cinnamon and apple latte and it was delicious! Highly recommend for you to try them out and look through their merchandise as well!

Came here on an off day to work on some personal projects. I loved this location as it was quiet and brought me much focus and peace. The staff was friendly and recommended I try a pastry with my coffee. I ordered the Peach sign made with Pungo peach syrup as an iced latte and a pop tart adjacent pastry that was filled with Nutella and iced with sprinkles. Both the latte and the pastry were tasty. Overall, I thought the location was nice and I left feeling very productive and refreshed. I will most definitely visit here again.

This Three Ships Coffee's inland might be a bit off the beaten path from their Virginia Beach spot, but it's worth the trip. The exterior could use a refresh and the location use more foot traffic, BUT the coffee makes up for it. PLUS they have stickers!

Double pumpkin

It was my first time at this location. Arrived 30 minutes before closing. There was a group of customers before us and only one person working, so we had to wait a bit to order. The drink was ready quickly though. Got the double pumpkin which is an iced pumpkin milk latte with pumpkin cold foam from the fall menu. It tasted good but it was pricey. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The vibe seems chill. Parking lot is small but was able to find a spot.

Stopped in when looking for an alternative to Starbucks. The service was excellent. The baristas were friendly and helpful. The place is cute and has plenty of seating. The coffee was good but not stellar and was a bit overpriced. Would be willing to give them a second try to support our local businesses.

I wanted to see what the VB coffee scene was like and had heard a lot about Three Ships. The pros: easy parking, super friendly service, and immaculate vibes! I wasn't able to sit and stay for this first time around, but the space is set up to accommodate a nice coffee date/alone time with a good latte & a book. The cons: rather overpriced coffee. I tried a flavored latte with oat milk and by the time I was swiping my card, I was paying $10+ for a 12 oz iced latte. I understand that good quality coffee costs good money...however, I thought what I paid was a bit much. At first I thought I was overreacting but I've paid less before at specialty coffee shops in LA or even Richmond. Would I come again? Maybe to treat myself, yes. Regularly? Wouldn't be wise.

Cool vibe, bit of a modern industrial roaster aesthetic. Staff were patient, professional, and provided good recommendations. I went with a Rwandan special pour over, one of my nephews got the hot chocolate, my daughter and another nephew each got iced caramel lattes. It was a bit chilly but we still enjoyed seats in their beautiful garden area. The Rwandan was served at optimal temperature and was complex and delicious! It has tables and umbrellas overlooking a beautiful flower and vegetable garden. I was especially impressed by how dog-friendly Fathom is; my dogs were welcomed inside just like any other guest, and there are even pictures of their furry guest on the walls near the entrance. Their prices are very affordable & reasonable, especially compared to other coffee shops in the oceanfront area. On my first visit, I ordered a hot caramel latte with almond milk and an iced white chocolate mocha latte, and both drinks together were just over $11. They were well-balanced and delicious. My Second visit I decided to try one of their seasonal drinks. I ordered a hot coconut drift latte with almond milk, my daughter a watermelon lemonade and a pup cup. I was really impressed with the service my dog received, as they made their pup cup from scratch! The drinks have consistently been high in quality and flavor on each visit. It's worth mentioning that they don't serve food, but they do offer some pre-packaged snacks for purchase. Fathom has officially become a part of my Saturday morning routine when I visit the farmer's market. I highly recommend giving Fathom a try if you're in the area; you definitely won't be disappointed!

So we wandered over to Pinup Coffee at Back Bay Farmhouse Brewery, and we're glad we did. I ordered the Salty Texan, a delicious take on the classic caramel macchiato. It was smooth, well-balanced, and just the right combination of sweet and salty. I would definitely order it again. The seating was comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxed, and it turned out to be much more than just a stop for coffee. We struck up a conversation with a wonderful mother and daughter visiting from Wisconsin. During our chat, the daughter shared that she was getting married later today. It was one of those unexpected moments that reminds you how enjoyable simple conversations with complete strangers can be. Great coffee, outstanding doughnuts, comfortable surroundings, and memorable conversation--it made for a wonderful morning. If you're visiting Back Bay Farmhouse Brewery, Pinup Coffee is well worth a stop.

I love their options of drinks an biscuits, I've especially been craving their bacon and cheddar biscuit since I've last had it, and it's nice to go to a cafe that dos things a little differently than the standard! One thing I also adore about this location is how they will host small markets on the lawn outside the house! One time me and my friend finished chatting and having coffee and we unknowingly walked outside to see a bunch of vendors that weren't there before! It was so fun to walk around and speak with everyone, they were all so sweet and I ended up buying multiple things unplanned! I will say it can be a tight squeeze between the doorway and the counter when ordering as the hallway is small and the line can grow rapidly. But if it's not cold outside or busy there then it's not really an issue at all! I'm sad that they aren't open past 1-2PM most days, but that's understandable given the business they run and thier location! Overall, I couldn't recommend tho place more for anyone wanting a new study spot or place to try out in general in VB!

My husband and I are regulars at Big Ugly but I've never taken the opportunity to try Taxus Street until this week. I tried to come on Monday and quickly learned they were closed, so returned the following day. They operate inside the brewery and have a nice setup in the corner. There is lots of seating - bars and high tops - and it's a great spot for a morning gathering. There was a meeting in the upstairs loft happening during my visit. The barista who assisted me was working solo. She was super friendly and happy to answer my questions. I was glad to hear they offer decaf espresso. I opted to try one of their seasonal lattes - the Mounds Bar latte with almond milk, mocha and coconut cold foam. It took only a few minutes for my order to be prepared. I did find the drink to be slightly sweet for my taste and would ask for half sweet on my next visit. For the lactose intolerant, they have almond and oat milk options. They also have several pastries and some hot food options to choose from like overnight oats and breakfast burritos from Burrito Perdido. I was really pleased with my recent visit and I'll be happy to come back soon!

Battlefield Boulevard, just outside the Great Bridge section of Chesapeake. Having visited their Summit Pointe location before, we were pleasantly surprised by just how spacious this café is. The Great Bridge location offers plenty of comfortable seating, making it an ideal place to meet friends, catch up on work, or simply relax with a great cup of coffee. Their retail area is also much larger, featuring an impressive selection of branded T-shirts, hoodies, mugs, coffee beans, and other merchandise for those who want to take a little piece of Pale Horse home with them. We arrived just before the Saturday morning rush, which proved to be perfect timing. No sooner had we settled into our seats with our lattes than a group of nearly thirty people walked through the door. It didn't take long for the shop to become a lively gathering place. Despite the growing crowd, the atmosphere remained welcoming and unhurried. Whether you're looking for a quiet corner to enjoy your favorite espresso drink or simply stopping by to grab a coffee on the go, Pale Horse has created an environment that encourages you to stay awhile. In addition to an excellent selection of coffee, espresso, and handcrafted lattes, they also offer a variety of fresh baked goods if you're looking for something to enjoy alongside your drink. One piece of advice: arrive early. Word has definitely gotten out about this place, and it's easy to see why. Even if you happen to visit during a busy period and have to wait a few extra minutes, the quality of the coffee and the friendly atmosphere make it well worth your patience. Pale Horse Coffee continues to prove that great coffee is only part of the experience. Comfortable surroundings, friendly service, and a welcoming community are what keep people coming back--and after this visit, it's easy to understand why. !

Buckroe coffee was one of the best coffee shops I've been to in quite some time, too bad it's on the other side of the water from our house! Walking in you can tell it was once a bank, LOVE older buildings and stories like this! The atmosphere inside was amazing, there were all different types of customers enjoying conversation, working, and just enjoying time in their 3rd place. I ordered a blended mocha frappe.
