This is a top-notch coffee shop to hang out, do work, or even listen to live music at times. Three Whistles has been my go-to spot to do work. It's spacious and has different types of seating from couches, standard table seating, or high table tops. The coffees, teas, and empanadas are delicious. You can even order beer and wine if you're feeling real thirsty. The staff members are friendly, helpful, and quick to serve. I'm never disappointed here. read more

Good place to hang. Every Thursday night is a themed-dance event (swing/salsa/country western), which is popular. It is a coffee place and offers the normal cafe fare. Great casual cafe in the Arlington area. They have a limited menu but I tried their chicken salad sandwich and it was really delicious. I love supporting small businesses. I was feeling down and one of my comfort drinks is a warm hot chocolate. Rarely do I find a place that serves white hot chocolate so I almost didn't ask but I did and they had it! I had to pay a little more for it but no biggie because it was really good. Nina made it and it was AMAZING. They use real milk not water and they steam it. Definitely worth the 4-ish dollars. Definitely will be back if I'm ever in this area again. They had tons of pastries I wanted to Try (huge muffins with tons of diff options) but I hadn't worked out and my body didn't deserve that many calories lol. read more

Joined as a co-working member last week, and really like it so far. As a cafe, it's great: whether you're a member or not there's always a good bit of seating available (especially post 6 PM) and there's a lot more variety than you'll find anywhere else nearby - comfortable armchairs, cushioned benches, sofas and so on. There's a ton of natural light from the windows in front and the skylight in the back, but not so much that it's hard to see your screen. Many outlets available, and all in all a very relaxing (and well-decorated!) place to work or just hang out. As a co-working space, I'm also a fan. There's printing, booths to make phone calls, and a really large section of available seating. It's open seating, but generally quieter/easier to concentrate than other places I've tried. It's also significantly less than i.e. a hot desk at WeWork or the like, and imo closer to better food/beverages. I would absolutely recommend it whether you're looking for a place to work remotely, or just a cafe! I'm really glad I found it, I used to go into DC to similarly comfy/cozy cafes from when I lived further north, but this will definitely be my go-to from here on out. read more

This place has a great ambience for working, and for anyone who is confused, it is free to work throughout the whole place without a membership after 6pm. And it isn't crowded in the slightest! They have outlets everywhere and comfortable seats and tables. The empanadas taste great but lack crunch/flakiness. But I believe that they are Julia's empanadas and not made by the cafe itself. The gelato is also good - I had the hazelnut and espresso flavors and was able to try quite a few before deciding. Finally, the music they played was almost too good. They somehow played quite a few of my favorite songs! Thank goodness it wasn't loud at all or else I would have barely studied. And I love that they're open past 9. We came across this cafe while walking in Clarendon looking for dessert around 8pm. The friendly staff help me decide which dessert to settle. We had Mint choco chip ice cream and chocolate chip scone. The place was very vibrant and lively on Monday night. They had a coloring event. Apparently this place is a co-working space during the day. There were a lot of people in the cafe but I didnt feel too crowded. I love the furniture, decoration and atmosphere and food. Today I went to visit Three Whistles coffeehouse I wasn't much into hot coffee or a cappuccino drink but I noticed they had gelato and I ordered a small gelato for 350 the gentleman who serve me was rather cheery and responsive but I noticed that the serving cup that he put it in was very poor almost like a water drinking cup and a lot of the gelato seem to use on to the sides required me to have to handle it with a napkin very messy affair I've been ordered ahead and cheese croissant which is then offered and put into a toaster oven saying that it was sitting in the refrigerator and the meat inside would be cold Well certainly crisp up the layers of croissant Del put the meat in so I was still cold and I suggested he put it in the microwave but that when I get frustrated just simply nibbled on it left it there I have to mention I notice how slobly the service area used to prepare drinks and food was and I have to ask whether if there's a lot of thought put into cleaning or into the kind of equipment they used to prep the food that customers might want a as d ordered The server was quite critical of a local business, nova arsenal, that I just set up shop a few steps down on the next block He didn't agree with the services are the products of the nee retail business has chosen to offer the public even though it's a legal and legitimate business Perhaps of more thought we care of her put into the prep area and the ways of prepping food instead of criticizing your businesses we might get better results in the food they serve the people read more

This used to be Boccato but apparently changed names during the pandemic. Their vegan chocolate gelato is pure heaven; I've sampled gelato and sorbet the world over, including Rome and Paris, and this is the BEST! How amazing that Clarendon has a genuine gelato shop. The lounge area has become far more upscale -- not sure if I'll feel comfortable hanging out there, post-pandemic. But as long as they keep making that amazing gelato, they can do what they like with the atmosphere. read more

Really cozy atmosphere to crank out some work. I really love the MCM/industrial decor in here. The café is well thought out. You can see that the owners thought about what would keep patrons in the café. There's a good selection of menu items: some sweets/pastries, more "meal" items (sandwiches, empanadas, etc), and a water station . In addition, there are outlets everywhere, so its not one of those coffeeshops where everyone is eyeing the same 3 tables. I also love the mixture of some more laid-back seating and some seating that is more suited to serious work. My only 2 critiques would be: 1) the music can get a little loud for a working environment, so bring your headphones/earplugs. 2) Getting kicked off the internet every 60 minutes is pretty annoying. No warning, just all your webpages stop loading. Its easy enough to log back in, but I feel like this could be extended to 90 min or 2 hours. Either way, its still my favorite spot in Arlington to get some work done & I keep coming back. read more

I just joined last week for $150 per month. Why I chose? 1. The least expensive coworking space around. Everywhere else is over $500 or more. 2. Close to my house. I could walk home if need be. 3. Parking is free 4. Close to Arlington Independent Media where I have my radio show What benefits I did not consider 1. The 20 percent discount on food and drink. The guy who manages the place is great, super smart and very interested in making this place great for the clients. Less than one week here so I am holding back a star. What they need: 1. A solid onboarding process for new members 2. A fridge - for now they are super nice and hold your cold food in their refrigerator 3. Color printer - not a deal breaker, but hey a boy can dream. 4. Organized networking events in the space. They are working on it, so I think this will happen before the EOY. They are nice, friendly, want to make it great and I think the best deal around for what you get. Soft cushy seats, or hard seats with a table. Free BW printing and a quiet space. Easy to work. I would give this place 4 stars for the quality of the coffee and the gelato, but I have to give it three stars for the service and the absence of social distancing. One of the items that Three Whistles usually carries is empanadas. The menu clearly indicates that one of the options is a vegetarian empanada (which is important since Clarendon has diversity in its population and vegetarian choices must be respected). However, they NEVER seem to have any vegetarian empanadas even though their menu shows they carry it. Each time I phone they say "oh we will have them in tomorrow" and when you show up tomorrow, they never have them; or "they will be in on Friday" and when you roll around on a Friday, ta-da, no vegetarian empanadas. Secondly, despite VA Governor Northam's directive, not all the clientele at Three Whistles wear a mask indoors - and there is no concept of social distancing. Patrons queue in, and the workers do not gently suggest that people wear masks and space themselves out when ordering / coming by the counter. Considering how narrow the area is around the counter, this is something that should be taken seriously. Thirdly, there is a serious lack of comprehension / communication among the serving staff on how to take orders. I went in this afternoon requesting 1 scoop of gelato for a milkshake. 1 scoop. In a milkshake. What happens? The serving lady put 2 and half scoops into a cup and tried to give that to me as gelato-straight. So I said "No I want 1 scoop in a milkshake". So then she grabs a milkshake glass, and proceeds to put 4 scoops into it! So again I repeat, that I want 1 scoop and she insists that these scoops are small and that I should take the 4. So I insist on 1 scoop and she says "What do you want me to do with the rest of it? Send it back?" Finally when I got the milk shake, it was made without milk - and only with cream! Simple and accurate customer service should not be a struggle. Normally I would not put this candid review on yelp - but the Three Whistles website itself does not have a section for complaints/feedback - only for queries on their events / general items. read more

Really nice coworking space! It is semi-crowded but just a really nice space. Food is also suprisingly good for a coworking spot, the cafe has gelato, drinks, and filling pastries. The WIFI is also good so hopefully once the pandemic gets better in a couple months, I will definitely be going back. read more

Great place to eat, study, and get work done. The place kind of looks like a cross between a cafe and an antique furniture store. I've gone here a few times to get some writing done, and usually order some crepes with a cup of tea (LOVE their tea selection, and they let you smell them beforehand). Unlike starbucks and some other cafes in the area, it never gets too crowded here which is perfect if you're looking for a nice quiet atmosphere to help you focus. read more

I do love this place for all the reasons listed -- comfy cafe atmosphere, friendly staff, good amenities. For a work space, the only problem is the noise. Since it's a combined cafe/work space, the noise from the cafe drifts over, and even with earphones it gets a bit noisy. Plus I wish there was a little more monitoring of the workspace itself. This is my first ever yelp review. I'm only writing this because of how infuriated I was today while I was here for about an hour or so. I've been here many times in the past. Honestly I love this place. Very quiet, relaxing, and a great place to just work or get some reading done. Anyway, I walked in today just to read for a bit. As soon as I walked in the guy at the counter says "how can I help you" in a bit of a stern tone but it was fine, no problem. I tell him I'm going to grab a seat and I'll be back to order in a sec. I take a seat in the back. Before I even sit in the seat he immediately rushes over to me and says "sir, you can't sit back here this are is for members only. There's a sign right here". Okay, cool that's fine too. So I find a seat by the window, I place my things down and go order an iced expresso with a splash of milk. He comes to me to tell me my drink was ready so i go to grab it and it's a shot of expresso with 2-3 small cubes thrown in it. I tell him I asked for milk and his response was "oh so you wanted an iced latte, that's a different drink" Extremely condescending and very rude. He was very rude from the moment I walked in the door. At this point I'm fuming on the inside because of the way he's been talking to me. When I pay, I asked him if they take cash and he tells me "no, we only accept Bitcoin". Just being a huge jerk in every interaction I had with him. This happened at 2:30 pm on 10/29/20. He is a white gentleman with blonde hair. I also couldn't help but notice how friendly he was towards everyone that walked through the door. Greeting them with friendly "hello's" and "how are you's". Where as I got the very stern immediate "how can I help you". It may have had something to do with my backwards hat and slightly oversized hoodie. Who knows. I just hope that a manager reads this and mentions it to him. I didn't have the heart to confront him about it at the time because there were many people quietly working on their computers and others studying. I didn't want to make a scene which caused me to feel even more angrier while I was there. However, I will be back lol because I really do like this place but that guy was just a huge jerk. read more
