Picking up where we left off, I actually brought some back to Boston! This time, I tried some other French patisseries; actually, all the patisseries in the shop looked delicious... Crème Brûlée: The freshly baked caramel shell was as light and crisp as glass, with a perfectly balanced sweet and mellow flavor after the initial burnt bitterness. The filling was smooth and delicate, with a rich and intense egg and milk aroma, and a generous amount of vanilla seeds. The only downside was that the garnish fruit wasn't fresh enough; it was a bit soft, and I would have gladly thrown it away. Chocolate Macaron: The shell was also light and crisp, with a full and slightly airy filling. The chocolate flavor was rich but not too sweet. Perfect for Chinese tastes! Looking at the packaging, I learned that this business was founded in Beirut, Lebanon in 1963 and later moved to Virginia in 1993. What a legendary story! This is a bright beautiful bakery full of eclairs, pastries, and cakes to your hearts content. If you are a pistachio lover, you won't regret coming here as there are plenty of pistachio options. I got the pistachio cream eclair and the Dubai mousse cake. I liked the eclair better, the cream inside was light and fluffy and not too sweet. The pistachio flavor wasn't incredibly strong but it was there. I didn't love the Dubai cake as much, it was much heavier and more decadent compared to the eclair. The mousse layers also tasted a bit "cream-cheesy" to me which I'm not personally a fan of. My friend got the pistachio tres leches and walnut dacquoise which was highly recommended by the staff behind the counter. The pistachio tres leches was very unique but I'd say there was very little or no pistachio flavor, it was more like almond extract flavor. The walnut dacquoise was refreshing and very walnutty. Very convenient as there is a free parking lot out front so we parked and walked around the area afterwards. read more

I was finishing a meeting and it was time for second breakfast. I noticed this place had Patisserie on the sign and said let's go. There was plenty of seating; hard to make a choice but I ended up choosing the Ham and Swiss Croissant and a cup of coffee. Coffee was great Croissant was great. Only issue, I asked for the croissant to be warmed and they must have a communication issue, served it cold. I would have complained but after I ordered there was a line. A tiny portion with an okay but way to liquidy tomato sauce punctuated by the occasional depressed chickpea. I chose to add the soujouk which brought the price up from $15 to $18 - the extra $3 brought me four razor thin slices plopped on top, with no effort to blend the flavors. Go for the pastry. Do not have the shakshuka. The shakshuka at Tatte is eons better - and it's nothing to write home about! I came here for a little pow wow with work colleagues. Very cute and aesthetic cafe to sit and have a little girl time. This cafe has great variety of sweet treats and drinks. Customer service was friendly... one of the staff even helped us with taking pitcures. One thing I must note is that the prices here are VERY steep... even for DC/NOVA standards. All of the pastries from here are hand crafted, and I've been fortunate enough to try several of them. The best pie is called the Alexandria and it consists of a Macaroni base and then they add layers of vanilla genioise. Then they top it off with white chocolate pistachio glaze. My favorite on-the-go treat is their chocolate eclair that consist of chocolate pastry cream and a special chocolate fondant icing on top. Their cakes are also amazing and the prices reflect that. I've also had some of their creamy dulce leche alfajor cookies. Any pastry that you get from here cannot go without their awesome lattes or cappuccinos. Excellent French pastries! I tried few things; hard to resist. The Ferrero Rocher eclair was great, exactly like a Ferrero chocolate turned into eclair! The cherry ricotta cheese pastry was amazing, made with cerises griottes (sour cherry), just like in Paris. Probably should've stuck with the eclairs... Stopped in on Friday morning and this place was busy! They had tons of seating and people were chatting and hanging out. They also have parking in front (but usually fills up quick). I got a latte and a zaatar croissant. The latte was fine, nothing to write home about but it was pretty pricey. The Za'atar croissant was similar in spirit to the one at Yellow, but the filling wasn't evenly distributed. I honestly thought it had no filling until halfway through. Overall, it was eclair to me that this place had some good options but I wasn't wowed. I probably wouldn't put this one on the bucket list. read more

My coworkers and I enjoyed the options and each of us ordered a pastry and coffee to take with us. I ordered the pistachio eclair and it was a pastry that made you want more. My drink (a vanilla, oat milk latte) has been wrong 50% of the time. But... When my order is right? The coffee here can be extraordinary. It's quicker than a few of the other spots nearby. The food is fresh and the pastries are gorgeous. The inside decor is beautiful year round. While I've always appreciated the quality of your desserts, my experience this time was disappointing due to the service. When I tried to point out the specific pieces I wanted, the staff member assisting me snapped at me in a way that felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Each slice is priced at $8, and as a customer, I believe it's completely reasonable to choose the exact pieces I'd like. The interaction came across as frustration being taken out on a customer, which made the experience uncomfortable. Customer service is a big part of what brings people back, and unfortunately, this encounter did the opposite for me. I love this place. The food is excellent- everything from the cupcakes to the cookies to the chips to the ratatouille. However, I have purchased the ratatouille several times, and each time the container leaked. The last two times I mentioned this to the staff, and they seemed to brush it off. Today, the ratatouille, which is not cheap, leaked into the bag they had provided. The bag broke and the package opened and spilled all over my condominium carpet. I quickly sprayed with stain remover. I'm hoping that will do the trick to get the stain out. Eclairons, the ratatouille is delicious, but the packaging needs to be changed. This is such a lovely little local cafe and pastry shop! Small and clean with good vibes but not necessarily the place to camp out with your laptop or a book. One or two outside tables as well. Absolutely gorgeous and unique treats and pastries - something for everyone! They do have a small cafe menu & drink menu but they mostly have treats. Cake slices, whole cakes, tarts / bars / cookies, and their claim to fame - eclairs! They have ~10 eclair flavors but I tried the cookie butter eclair which was absolutely delectable. Creamy and rich but not overly sweet, light and fresh despite my visiting during the late afternoon. I need to try them all!!! Small parking lot out front. Good quick service.
