If I could give them a - zero I would. I reserved a car ahead of time, made an appointment, came early by 30 minutes and took an hour and 1/2 and they didn't have any gasoline cars and put me into an electric with very little charge. I had no idea how charging happened and spent 4 hours of my rental time trying to find and put juice in the car. The last time I sprained my wrist trying to manhandle the charger and get it filled it up then made it home. The next morning of day 2 after a full charge $20 worth the car broke down on me. I called Thrifty and told them them the car was broken down and i was strained in the rain and they said ok take an Uber. I said no, they should pay for my uber home and they finally agreed. I finally made it home from the break down in thee rain and called them and they said they would not charge me for the 2nd day. 2 weeks later I get an invoice from them showing they did not remove the 2nd day charge. Bottom line, is I got a 1/2 day use a of a car I didn't want in the first place and was charged for 2 days rental and loss 20$ worth of power that someone else got to use. I booked Thrifty through AAA and got a fabulous rate and UBERed over to the Delray office of Thrifty/Hertz and was helped by Steve. He found me a compact car in minutes, had it cleaned and prepped, honored my AAA discounted reservation and had me on my way in under 30 minutes. I was very pleased. read more

Never, ever rent an Electric Vehicle (EV) for a road trip. First of all, I never leave reviews, this was just that bad. We did not ask for an EV , we reserved a regular small SUV. My wife was told at the last minute it was either the EV or nothing . So she took what they had as we were on a tight schedule. We were taking our daughter to college for the first time in Gainesville, and every minute counted. This rental was a horrible experience. We spent a ridiculous amount of time at service stations trying to charge it. I had the displeasure of downloading three different apps to charge the "car" Trying to charge this "car" caused so much grief, and frustration. It wasted so much of our valuable time. After driving and charging home all day, I found a public charger at the library to try and charge it. The car showed 8 hrs to be fully charged. I was honestly furious at this point and decided not to spend another minute with this thing. I dropped it off at the store with 36%. Now I'll be charged for not being fully charged on return. Their phone service system is so bad I could not get through to anybody or anything related to this issue. Waste of time, hence this review. Thank you, but never again. D read more

Where do I start!? As soon as I got in the car it smelled like weed and looked like they barely tried to clean it. They had no other cars available so I had to take it. A few hours in, the low tire pressure light came on. Stopped off to fill it, 20 minutes later it comes on again. Stopped again to fill it. Got back on the highway and was flat. NO SPARE TIRE IN THE TRUNK!!! Y'all clearly don't care about your customers at all, and I'm disgusted you would even allow this to happen. Edit: contacted Thrifty regarding the flat tire. They assured us they would take care of the tow and call us a Lyft. They towed the car, we ended up paying for the Lyft, and Thrifty also charged me $200 for the tow and $100 for the tire. I travel alot and rent from various rental companies, this place was such a dissapointment. The blond lady was extremely rude, dismissive and refused to provide the car selected in my prepaid contract. She kept insisting that an economy car was the same as a standard size car. I saw 3 standard cars in her lot and she refused to give any one of them even though i had already prepaid for a week. I had no choice but to accept the economy car she gave me and it was full of pet hair and smelled like cigarettes. I also noticed the bottom bumper had a dent and noticed road kill remains stuck in the left front-end bumper. I will never rent from this place again. read more

I would give no stars if possible. Rental a large SUV and received a call on my way to pick it up that they had no SUV's no apologies appeared they do this all the time. Agreed to take a minivan instead. When we got there sat waiting for over 30 min for the one person in the office to help one costumer with no reservation before us. If I could rate this company with negative stars it would be at least a negative 3. They lie they overcharged and take unfair advantage of senior citizens. Asked if I wanted an additional drivers listed on the contract. Never told me there was a charge for additional drivers. They made it sound like a service they were offering. Sounded good so I listed 2 additional drivers. When I returned the car, they charged me $13 a day (8 days) for each additional driver. That's $208 for people that NEVER DROVE THE CAR. When I complained, the response was "it was on the contract". Thrifty??? Not so much. read more

We came from CA and we're staying in Boca Raton with my sister, last min we wanted to go to Miami and needed a last min rental, enterprise was out of cars and somehow we ended up here out of all places. The older man is really rude and could barely understand him he doesn't even understand you fully. We returned the car literally 4 minutes late and the guy that was working the next day was like sorry I'm with someone it's all good I'll send you the receipt. Well I got the receipt and they charged me for an extra day as an additional driver cuz me and my husband were on the contract. Called the 800 number on my invoice and they did refund me but tried telling me they had no grace period what so ever. If you have other options I would recommend not using them. read more

This is the worst rental car company in the South East Florida area. The customer service is absolutely HORRIBLE and unhelpful. We were scheduled to pick up a rental car at noon, and when we arrived it was closed. We spoke to customer service earlier in the week and they told us our pick up time was noon and failed to tell us it would be closed. When calling to explain our problem, they RUDELY told us it was our fault for arriving at noon when it was closed. Customer service would not modify our rate and hung up on us. I took My 84 year old mother to rent a car at thrifty. She rented a Jetta for a month and I was standing there when the receptionist told her it would be $860 for the month. Today she called me so upset because apparently she signed a contract for $3200 for the month. She didn't realize this and they say there's nothing they can do. I checked to see Avg rate for a last minute rental for a Jetta for the month and it's around $600. This is criminal and yet thrifty says they won't change it. Beware. They have no drop box or any way of dropping the car off after hours. There is no provision. I got there at 4:20 on Saturday and there was no one there and no lock box for keys and I live in Jupiter. I was within my hour agreement and no where in my agreement does it state that I can't drop it off after the office closes. They ended up charging me two extra days plus two extra days for tolls. A total of over a hundred dollars. When I called to ask them about it Giovanni answered the call and was rude, and unwilling to help. He said that because I didn't make them aware that the car was there they didn't find it until Monday. I have a time stamped photo of it sitting right outside their front door literally 5 feet away. I left a note on the windshield. I've never not been able to drop a rental off by leaving the keys in a drop box. I will never use this company again. read more

I arranged to rent a car, showed up ,and they had left a sign saying they would be back in 15 minutes with no indication of when the sign was put up. I left a phone message with my phone number and said I would pick up the car in the afternoon. After a couple of hours without getting a call I called only to find out they closed for the day. I worked with the woman manager when I picked up my car. She was rude, and seemed as if she was put out by the mere fact she had to wait on me. It was dark, the parking light was not lit, and she never bothered to come out and inspect the car she gave me. When I got in, there was spilled sticky coffee all over the Center console, the car had not been vacuumed, and it reeked of coffee. It was dirty, inside and out. Don't be ripped off- there are three other car rental places on the same road- I'm sure you'll get a similar rate and MUCH better service. read more

I rented car when I went on the highway and reached 60 mph the wheel was shaking it was clear there was a wheel misalignment issue. Unfortunately I couldn't turn around right there as I was headed to the airport to pick someone up. I had to then go back to Thrifty to exchange the car, they made me put gas in the car before exchanging which I should NOT have had to do as that was their error in giving me a car with an issue. We didn't feel like arguing so we just put the gas in the vehicle as we wanted to get on with our day. The woman was not helpful or friendly. This is a service industry, learn customer service. Other than that the vehicle was fine. One other thing, on my online reservation I had selected the "Plate Pass" option which is needed if you are going through any tolls. For whatever reason this did not appear on my agreement and I didn't catch it when I signed the agreement as I assumed it was on there based upon my online reservation. Anyways I got a $100 bill in the mail for tolls, thankfully the one good thing is Thrifty is reimbursing me for that and instead charging me the $40 Plate pass fee. Which by the way I don't understand that charge as in the Tri-State area you can opt to have an E-Z Pass or not, they don't charge you extra if you need to drive through a toll. Not sure how that charge works or why it exists in Florida. Only good thing is that it was a cheap rental and their "mystery" car rental gave me a mid size SUV for the price of a small sedan. read more

The car itself wasn't bad and my experience with Thrifty at the pickup location was fine and smooth and the staff there were very nice. When I went to return the car, I saw a woman approach me, asked me if I was returning and promptly proceeded to check the car. When she was done, she walked into the face without acknowledging my presence until I asked her if I needed to follow. She, from this point on, acted rudely and said I was late and that I would be charged and so forth. I was just 3 min late, if that. Then she handed me a sheet of paper without a word and looked back down at her computer. I waited a few moments before asking her if we were done, and she said "that's it!" Perhaps the woman had a bad day, but I don't think her attitude should have remained so sour over the duration of our interaction.
