This place is AMAZING! Let me start from the beginning.... I went to a different salon down the road to get summer highlights. This other salon messed up my highlights the first time, and tried to fix them the next day. Because of this, my hair was SO dry (I have very oily, straight hair so this was devastating to my hair). My highlights weren't terrible, but they were dated "Jersey", chunky highlights. I really didn't have any choice but to keep them for the summer for the sake of the health of my hair. Fast forward to now-September- and I was ready to go back to my naturally dark hair. I wanted to do some research to make sure I didn't make the same mistake like last time. I saw Thrive has amazing reviews on Yelp, so I gave them a shot. When I first walked in I was immediately greeted, taken to get my smock, offered coffee, water and cookies. After that Tracy, the person that came over to do my color came and got me. I told her the story about my horrible highlights and how I wanted a nice deep, dark color, with no gold/warm tones. Tracy immediately knew what to do, and it was AMAZING!!! I wasn't planning on getting my hair blown out, but Tracy managed to get my a complimentary blow out. Steph blew out my hair and as I sat down she asked how I wear my hair, to which I replied- parted to the right and straight all the time because I don't know how to curl my hair well. Well, instead of just going with what I said (even though they were closing in like 15 mins) Steph goes- well let's try something different! And she curled my hair for me! I was really amazed! I have been looking for a colorist and stylist for over seven years and I finally found my dream team! From the second I walked in the door I was greeted by smiling faces behind the reception desk to check me in. They showed me where to hang my coat, where to find my coloring robe all again with a smiling face something that you really don't see too often at the front desk of hair salons. I immediately felt comfortable and didn't feel like the staff or clients were looking me up and down to see what I had on. I was then brought back to my colorist Traci. From the second I sat in the chair I knew that I found what I had been looking for. We talked a little I explained to her what I wanted showed her a picture she then explained to me what she could do to achieve the look that I wanted. I can go on and on but pictures don't lie! This is really me in my before and after!! Traci even got me a complimentary blowout with Tiffany and when I checked out I received a $10 gift card for my next visit!! I know everyone has a different opinion on what is expensive. I've seen some reviews that say this salon is $$$. I'm going to tell you now it's not!! If you want quality work you can not expect to pay $. For all the amazing work that Tracy did she was extremely reasonable!!! She is so talented and better yet so sweet and friendly!! Today was my first visit to Thrive. I was looking for a salon after my stylist moved outside of driving range. I have to say, that my expectations were quite low, considering I have been to a few other salons in the area and they all were a disappointment. Thrive, however, impressed me. Traci was wonderful at color and got it 100% right after speaking with me for a few moments. She was helpful, willing to answer any and all questions, and had great intuition and command of the color. She is truly an expert. I also got a cut by Yong, who literally approached the hair cut, being that it was my first time at the salon, as a "first date". He asked me a lot of questions around preference and style history and suggested several upgrades and alterations according to his expertise. Truly one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. In addition, the staff is awesome in regards to customer service. I was consistently asked if I needed anything, including coffee and water. Traci even showed me how to do my eyebrows with an eyebrow pen. Yong showed me several hair products that aligned with how I like to style my hair on a day to day basis. I highly recommend although it is a bit more expensive than moderate, however, keep in mind that I did buy two products. Went to Thrive as a new client (had been going to another salon in the area for quite a while and just wasn't that satisfied with my hair anymore). Showed Traci a picture of a dark brown/maroon color and she transformed my hair to look dead like the picture. It was exactly what I wanted! My hair looked straight out of Pinterest! Traci talked to me about maintenance and price to maintain and gave me her professional opinion of how we should go about getting the look I wanted. Highly recommend her, she's the sweetest person and an amazing artist. Had a cut and style done by Kelly. She also went out of her way to give me tips to maintaining my hair. Gave me her professional opinion of how to fix my cut over time into the look I really wanted/would work best for my hair thickness and texture. She was super nice and really informative! Highly recommend her as well. Natalie up front is a doll...I had more than a few questions coming in as a new client, and she answered everything/had my colorist call to answer questions, and was just super polite and helpful. This was the first time I decided to try Thrive Salon and I was so happy with my choice. From the minute you walk in to the minute you walk out you feel comfortable and cared for. I was looking to add some light color into my hair by the process of balayage, and Megan was my stylist that helped me through it! I was upset that my hair didn't naturally become as light as it usually does in the summer so this was a perfect way to brighten with it still looking natural. Megan made the whole process easy, fun, and exciting. She always made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. She always informed me what she was doing and why she was doing it that way. She made getting my hair done so much more enjoyable than just a long boring process it usually is. She ended me with a blowout and added some nice voluminous curls to finish my look and it made me feel amazing and so happy that I got my hair done. I have been to Thriv Salon twice now, and I can truly say I have never had more positive experiences with both a colorist and a stylist. Christy, my colorist, took her time with the entire process and made sure I walked out of there with the exact look I wanted. Although I loved her work 100%, she would have altered anything I had wanted her to had I not been completely satisfied. Which, to reiterate, I absolutely was. Cindy, my stylist, did not miss a beat either. She listened to and understood exactly the look I was going for, while making suggestions along the way. Before she cut - I just went for a trim and asked her to keep it on the longer side - she showed me how much she was going to take. So for those of you who have had a bad experience with a scissor-happy hairdresser, I promise you Cindy is the opposite. She has worked hard for me to create the right balance of color, highlights and low lights to create a beautiful overall look. Yong is an expert stylist. So I've been trying to find a new salon for about four months. Just wasn't thrilled about the former salon. Happened upon thrive. Called and the front desk couldn't have been more accommodating in getting me an appointment the next day. My original appointment was with Cindy because I mentioned I wanted someone who likes to cut short pixish haircuts. When I arrived they said Cindy was running late but that rob had a cancellation. Would I be interested? I said sure, since I knew no one there. Rob listened to all my issues. I don't want my ears to stick out. Im too old for spiked hair, blah blah, blah and then cut my hair. The man is a genius. For the first time, ever, I didn't restyle my hair when I got home and when I do it myself, it lays exactly the way I've always wanted it to. I seriously need hardly any product. Old website, inconspicuous location, but TRUE GEM OF A SALON. Constantly changing my hair style, I was referred here by the prettiest girl in high school. At Thrive, I met young colorist, Jamie. Next thing I knew, all of my girlfriends were going to her! When we left for college, even my University of Miami girlfriend flew home to maintain her color with Jamie. Bayalage, highlights, edgy color trends, anything - I've tried it here and she's meticulous, knowledgable and personable. Admittedly, I've strayed to new (more expensive) salons (i.e. Moxie, Andre Richard) over the years out of curiosity... ONLY TO RETURN TO THRIVE WITHIN WEEKS!! I have been seeing Samm for my color and Rob for my cut for years at Thriv. Both were recommended to me years ago and I haven't gone anywhere else since. As a transplanted Manhattan girl I have gone to some of the best salons in the country and I can truly say that they are amazing. I am a single mom now so don't go as often as I'd like so when I walk in my hair is always a total disaster and I leave feeling like a million bucks. I never know what I want and both Samm and Rob work with me and the colors are amazing and the cuts are beautiful. They are both so professional but make you feel right at home. I also love that the staff there have all been there for years and so there is a comfort level as soon as you walk in the door. Today was my first time at the salon. I called the owner Christy after getting a terrible haircut from my regular salon. Christy went out of her way to listen to me and reassure me that my hair could be fixed. She recommended Tiffany as my stylist. The salon is absolutely beautiful and the staff were all outgoing and friendly. I felt comfortable right away. Tiffany not only fixed my hair, but I think she made it look better than I originally imagined. Tiffany is so talented and very personable. I had such anxiety after the first cut, but calling Thrive was the best move I made. I wound up hugging Tiffany before leaving because I felt and looked so much better! Traci is wonderful! Not only is she the sweetest and nicest person you'll ever meet. She's the best colorist I've ever met. She gave me the best highlights I've ever had. In the 23 years I've had my hair colored (single process and hi-lights), I've always had to experience some damage dry hair with breakage to my hair because my natural hair is dark and thick, and resistant to lightening. I have come to dread getting highlights because I never knew what level of damage my hair would sustain. But this time when Traci lightened my hair overall with some highlights, I loved it! Even though I had some light highlights, it was not like before. I don't know how she did it there is no breakage at all. I LOVE my hair and so does my boyfriend!! read more

Traci is the best!! I went in a couple weeks ago for my first time, she did an amazing job with a color correction. I needed to reverse a dark and very permanent brown, back to a natural looking dirty blonde. Traci was able to do this and she did such an amazing job. She knew I was weary and nervous, as I was coming in with the fear of my hair color getting worse, but she took such good care of me and made sure to keep me in the loop every step of the process. My son gets his long hair cut and shaped by Yong (always looks amazing!), so when I needed a change I went to Thrive and tried Traci for my color and Rob for my cut. From the friendly receptionist to the low-key vibe of the space, my experience was fantastic. Everything that has been said on here about Traci is true! She is patient and kind and really listens. Plus, she is a wonderful colorist and a true expert at her craft! Covered my gray and added warm tones of lighter brown/copper in all the right places. Went to Thrive Salon for the first time and wish I had found it sooner! Was greeted by Natalie who was so welcoming. Showed me where to change and offered me a refreshment. My appointment was for color with Traci. She met me at reception and showed me to the color station. We spent some time discussing the look I was trying to achieve and she also shared her thoughts. I'm thrilled to say the finished product was absolutely perfect.
