Kory Stetina and his team have once again hit it out of the ballpark with their new concept, Throne Room -- a speakeasy hidden in the back of Kindred. It's a bit disorienting when you first walk through the chain mail doorway -- a dark passageway, water falling behind translucent walls, and the throb of an off-kilter Games of Thrones-ish soundtrack building in volume. Then, suddenly, you've arrived as you walk into Throne Room -- a medieval-themed bar with its own soundtrack, food/drinks, and vibe. My wife and I had a great time. We're huge fans of Kindred and Mothership, and Throne Room takes you somewhere entirely different. After you have a seat, you're brought a unique welcoming drink, then a LONG scroll menu. Great food, great drinks, and great service from some very talented bartenders. We had the brick pastry, the five-layer fava dip, and the garlic flatbread. I had the Seed of Horns and Devil in the Bush drinks with alcohol, and my wife did the NA Bog Bilberry and Bog Labrador. Unique flavors -- very interesting and tasty. We also ordered the spearmint herbal tea which comes with an hourglass to let you know when it's done steeping. Our 90-minute experience flew by way too fast and it was already time to go. We were given small going away drinks in mini goblets which really hit the spot. The perfect ending to a remarkably immersive drinking and dining experience. It's basically impossible to get a reservation for the next couple weeks, but we will be back again and again. Thanks Kory and team for giving us plant-based peeps another great place to hang out! Love you for all you do!

I loved the Throne Room and you will too. Things I loved; the overall vibe (especially if you're a GoT fan), the cocktails were fantastic, the food was delicious and incredible (and all vegan), and the service was outstanding. Special shout out to our server Ricky, who walked us through the menu, the drinks, the food and explained anything when we asked questions on and was super attentive to us with exceptional service! They give you an optional welcome drink when you first get seated, it's a delicious, flavorful, refreshing spritz. Say yes to this drink as it is small and comes in a little goblet. When you leave, they also give you a departure drink, which is non-alcoholic and has really great flavors and is refreshing and leaves your pallet cleansed. I'd like to talk about the food for a minute. We started off with this warm nut mixture with zaatar and some other flavors, don't skip on this! This nut medley mixture was fantastic, and I was really hoping they sold it by the bag because I would've bought several bags of this. We then had the olives and cave aged brie, which was delicious. The brie cheese is vegan and it's really tasty so I asked who made it and it's a company called Rebel Cheese out of Texas. We also had the hummus and pita bread which was delicious. We then had the puff pastry with lentils dish; it ended up coming out as 3 fried eggrolls with unique and savory flavors inside with a really good sauce. This was a party in my mouth. Don't skip on this one either! All of the cocktails that we tried were unique and delicious. My first drink was the Bloody Mary; it was clarified and had this beautiful red hue and tasted great. I would highly recommend. My friends ended up having a Dirty Martini and a Gimlet, which I got to taste and they were delicious as well. My second drink was the Negroni and was also really good. At the back of the bar, there is a chain wall that you walk through to go to the restroom. There is only one restroom inside. I could not figure out how to get into the restroom once I entered the chain curtain as it's just 3 stone walls (it's very dark) and I actually ended up opening a janitors closet. It was kind of funny and I don't want to ruin it for anybody so I'm not gonna tell you and hopefully no one else ruins it for you, but it's kind of fun trying to find the restroom if you can figure it out in the dark. Things I hated; not a damn thing! This place is a special treat if you get to go, and I feel lucky that I was able to experience this.

NO availability for reservations, even up to several weeks in the future, on weekdays, right when they open, etc.

They have NO times available for reservations. EVER. According to their Instagram, they open it up every week or two, but there is not a single time available for the whole month. Not right when they open, not right before they close, not even on weeknights! I reached out to them and their parent company Kindred on Instagram several times, with comments on their recent posts, asking them to check their DM's, and they do not reply. Can't even ask them if they will accept walk-ins because they don't reply! That's just bad customer service. There are better bars and speakeasies in San Diego. (screenshot attached. I even attempted to make a reservation two weeks out on a weekday and there is nothing the whole month)

The ambiance, drinks, and snacks were amazing! We loved the waterfall wall, Chain-meal curtains at the entry, unique bathroom with fountains for faucets, and the interesting overall vibe.

Unfortunately, this place is absolutely worth the hype! 10/10 for vibes and atmosphere. Both cocktail we got were amazing, and the bean dip was also a winner. Service was maybe a bit slow, but they fit us in on a busy evening.

Took awhile to get into this new speakeasy. Drinks are good and interior design and details are wonderful. However, the music was such a vibe kill. I just don't see myself coming back here again and again if it means listening to the same mysterious music. I understand it's a part of the ambiance but long term scalability wise it may not be the wisest choice. Could see myself drinking nice drinks to Frank Ocean...etc. here.

I get there and they have plenty of seating available. I check out the bar and take a seat. The place itself is huge! Lots of great places to hang with friends and party. They had a padres game in and lots of specials when the Padres play. I had the Ballpark Paloma which has tequila , dragon fruit juice and grapefruit juice and soda. It was very refreshing and delicious. My only knock is I hate drinks served in plastic cups but this is normal for a lot of bars at the pools. The bartender Jason was extremely friendly and courteous and I was extremely happy with my drink. I will definitely be back soon with friends.

Was greeted immediately and was seated within 10 minutes which was great, but there was a little bit of wait to order our food. One thing I do when trying new restaurants is to check the menu out before hand and have my order ready to place once the waiter/waitress approaches the table. What we ordered Honey BBQ Wings: Crispy and right amount of sauce. Not drenched or soggy but the perfect amount and was delicious BBQ Bacon Smash Burger: Seasoned very well and the bacon was crispy. The burger was smaller than expected and the fries were really salty. Overall a great place to checkout and come with friends. Nice chill spot to enjoy a meal and has great music. There was a dj there as well that made the atmosphere fun.

I sat there drinking about a half dozen cans of the cheapest beer they had and chain-smoking out front. There was a tall gal behind the bar slinging drinks fast as hell while a bunch of folks sang "American Pie." It felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. That's where I met the sweetest little old lady. We talked for what felt like hours, and then she asked if I wanted to play pool. I told her I didn't play, but what the hell--we were having too good a time to say no. She beat me fair and square. I reckon that's the moment I knew I was in trouble, though I was too stubborn to admit it. What followed were the most magical four weeks I'd had in a long, long time. It felt like we lived a lifetime together. Anyway... Betty Sue, if you ever happen to read this, I miss you, and I'm sorry. I'll always wish I'd been the man I should've been for you. The time we shared was simple, honest, and full of joy. You never know you're perfectly aligned with the universe until the moment has passed. Maybe that's the lesson I was meant to learn all along. From the spooky, dark, skulls old school ambiance and decor, to the experience of not ordering from a menu, everything about it made it feel unique and curated making it feel like a true individualized experience.
