    Guava BBQ Chicken

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday and they were packed. The kids loved asking questions about the characters on the walls and movies and really enjoyed the games. Food was great I had a grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and Guava bbq and my wife had a fried chicken the tropical thunder. Both were excellent. We will be back again maybe for $1 wing night on Wednesday next time!

As soon as you walk in you notice the Backstreet Boys book and the 90s-00s throwback. All the tables have a movie or tv show quote from that time period and the menu items as well. There's even an arcade room with working games!! They also host trivia and karaoke nights. The concept is really cool and different. I started with the cherrylicious dirty soda, which is soda with vanilla, cherry and cream. Our waitress recommended this one because it's her favorite. I like Dr. pepper, so I had to taste it. The waitress did not steer me wrong! My friend ordered the Miami vice dirty soda, which is one of their popular items and she can tell why people love it. I'm a sucker for a menu item with "house sauce" so I had to get the throwback burger. All the burgers and sandwiches come with fries and the option of a double smash burger or a chicken sandwich. This was a unique concept to me and I'll try the chicken sandwich next time I go. The burger was delicious! The house sauce and the caramelized onions were exquisite. Not to mention the burger was big! Our server was friendly, attentive, and knew a lot about the menu, which was a plus! This restaurant has been open for less than a year and I hope it remains open for a long time!

The 90s themed eatery is one month old and does not yet have an affixed sign on the building. An illuminated red Open sign hovered above the small pink and blue Throwback Tavern name and logo on the glass entry door. Within minutes after seating at 7pm the restaurant got slammed and by 8pm there was a line of customers outside waiting to check out the frenzy inside. The decor consisted of wall monitors playing MTV videos of 90s rock music bands. Below the monitors were framed posters of retro movies creating the intentional Throwback theme. The three pay phone booths were also a nice touch. The rear of the restaurant has a monster sized boom box above the beer bar. No traditional liquor cocktails sold here although they offer weird sundae style drinks with optional alcoholic buzz balls to add a jolt. The double Smash Burger was juicy and very flavorful with a side of waffle fries. As an appetizer, my buddy had the marshmallow drizzled waffle fries which were fantastic but almost put us in a sugar coma. Prices were very reasonable and the ambiance was cool. The stage was not active tonight although karaoke is coming soon. A separate room had free play retro arcade video games which included Mortal Kombat, X-Men and Ms. Pac Man which I played. The bathroom was very clean with a contemporary style. There was an auto hand dryer on the wall which was in place of paper towels, although now had nothing to grab the handle of the door to exit. It was evident that due to the high influx of customers, one more server or chef is warranted, due to a forty minute wait for our simple meals. Will give it a few months for a second visit for time to organize.

Love the concept as I'm an old school everything kinda dude! Walked in with great flashbacks and memories with all the decor from the 90's and early 00's with a diner-ish vibe! Newly opened spot that replaced the old Italian/pizza restaurant in the plaza. Was hard to find at first as signage was not clearly up yet on the outside. Overall, the social media hype did its job and the place seemed consistently busy and crowded. However, I believe they were not prepared and staffed appropriately for the influx in business and may be off to a rough start. Our group was able to chat with the owner who was nice and friendly and also owns Coley's Pizza on the other end of the plaza. She was the owner/cook/food runner/hostess/bar tender/table cleaner. Loved her work ethics as shes able and willing to assist her front line employees as needed! All though during our visit, service was lacking a bit as they seemed short staffed and everything took longer than usual, I'm sure and hope things will improve over time. Campfire fries are a must try. Smash burgers are not really smash burger and more like regular burgers. They were good but not like salivating good as they were saucy and juicy overall. Nice to have a new family establishment in the area and great for kids with free games in the arcade.

Throwback Tavern opened three weeks ago. I really like the concept of this tavern. I definitely want to come back at night sometime and have a drink at the bar. The place is cute even though the decor needs a bit of altering. For example, their posters that are on the walls are all wrinkled in their frames. The staff were good in seating us and getting our beverages. It was a bit awkward that my mushroom burger came out a good 10 minutes before my friends chicken wings were ready. I decided not to eat until they got their food, but they insisted that I go ahead. I asked what they were most famous for and they said the burgers. I think they were just okay. For smash burgers I really didn't get that beefy taste and I couldn't get it medium rare which really was not fun. The cheese and aïoli sauce only added injury to my meal. I liked the bed of lettuce they gave instead of a bun. The fries were good but I really wish they offered a healthier side. I saw that they offer milkshakes and flatbread pizza. I want to try those items another time. Overall we enjoyed the atmosphere. The both was huge!

Went with some friends to try it a new restaurant in town. Let me start off saying it was only opened for a month. Walked in and asked for a table for six. They were busy but they found us a table rather quickly. The ambiance was from the 90-2000's. The Resturant was surrounded with TV's playing old shows. Game room with of course pac man, a cool bar that had lights that changed colors and three pay phones on the wall. At first glance I did notice many people waiting for food which wasn't a good sign, but we were willing to wait. We all ordered drinks which took a while to serve. Our friends ordered appetizers mozzarella moons and sweet potatoes fries with marshmallows on top. Both came in as timely manner and were very tasty. The main course took about 40 minutes to receive. The chicken buffalo salad was good but too spicy for my liking. The burgers were all amazing. The fries were good but nothing special. I think if the food was hotter I might have enjoyed it better. I feel like the orders were prepared and sitting so everyone was served at the same time but can't say for sure. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The owner came out often and checked in us. All in all the place was cute and the food was good, but they need to work out the kinks.

This is a really cool spot! It's tucked away in a shopping plaza I would never expect a full bar to be within but it's there! They have a ton of seating inside as well as a bar with bar seating. I loved all the different throwback memorabilia throughout, it was well themed! I also give a huge props to having draft beer on the menu as well as it was fantastic! I ordered a 22oz La Rubia and it was a great draft beer. The food selection is also really good, a large assortment and a ton of cool burgers. I opted for the throwback burger and it came with fries. I absolutely loved the fries as they have a nice seasoning to them. The burger was really good as well. The special throwback sauce on the burger really adds to it. They have a very small arcade inside as well that looks fun. The photos made it seem a little larger than in person but that's expected with the internet sometimes. I would definitely come back and I hope more people visit this hidden gem in Pembroke Pines.

OMG this is such a cute and fun little tavern. It's 90s themed and the menu also has 90s themed names. I had the mac burger and it was so good ! Along with the Nashville mozzarella stick. It is beer and wine only with buzz balls. No hard liquor which is fine with me. Everyone was super friendly from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out. I'll definitely be back !

Throwback Tavern is definitely a throwback from the 90's. Loved the feeling of nostalgia from the movies I grew up with and just feeling like I was transported back to a carefree time when I was in high school. The restaurant is very inviting from the moment you walk in. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The tables caught our attention and the title of the food items on the menu were also title after a famous 90s movie. The food was so good and the server was helpful with hiding me thru food items that could be considered unsafe to consume due to my gluten sensitivity. Overall would recommend this place. And I will mention that you have access to the game room and play some of the hottest games of the 90s and let me mention they were all free. Overall will make my way back soon.

I was originally excited to experience this new eatery/arcade based on its 90's/millenial theme (i.e appropriately named "throwback") however upon visiting was extremely disappointed. First, let me preface, I rated this two (2) stars rather than a zero to ensure a reader understands I did not fail to apply a rating. Issues: 1. Although the burger was favorable it was rather small for its price of $15. 2. French Fries were not tasty nor crunchy to my satisfaction - more seasoning would have helped. 3. The side ceaser salad was over-drenched in dressing. 4. The Bar as well as the kitchen service was extremely slow. It took 1/2 hour to receive my drink then another 40 mts for my food. Note: There was no problem with waitress service. 5. A full alcohol bar/license is not available. Finally, it was appreciated that the offered antiquated Arcade games, located in a corner, were free but there were not enough games provided and two were actually out-of-order!

Nice view on the bar area. Good choice of craft brew and wine list.

Really threw me back to the old days. Had free games such as Pac-Man and multiple board games too. Service was outstanding. Food was great, but not anything really special. Karen loved it though! It was such a treat to see her act like a kid in a candy store when she found out all the games in the front were free, she couldn't stop going back and forth between her food and the pac- man game. While I wouldn't go back for the food, I would definitely go back with my wife just to see her brighten up with the games!

The conversations of the old days were flowing at Throwback Tavern and man did it bring up some great memories. The ambiance inside was so so if i had some criticism id say 2/2- increase volume of music by 2 notches and dim the lights by 2 notches. You can barely hear the music and who doesn't agree that old school music is the best. We sat at the bar since it was packed on a Friday night, our waitress was very friendly and answered all our 800 questions without getting annoyed. On to the food- GET THE BURGER, my man still talking about it the next day lol, this isnt a place to ask for your burger to be cooked a certain way but it doesn't matter. I think the fries were skimped on by alot. Skip the wings nothing special and lacking in taste. Dirty soda tasted great and the games in the back were a nice touch. I will definitely be back for the burger for sure.

I highly recommend this restaurant. This place is mostly has burgers, flat bread, wings, chicken tenders, and salads. They have great soda float drinks. I ordered a mushroom burger with fries. They also have a mini arcade that is free with mortal Kombat, wheel of fortune, pac man. They also have a photo op on pay phones. The arcade idea was a great idea when there is a wait time. All throughout the restaurant/bar they have mounted TVs.

Hot Dog Heaven is a Fort Lauderdale institution. Founded in 1979 by Chicago natives Barry and…read morePamela Star, the tiny stand brought an authentic taste of the Windy City to South Florida. They served authentic Vienna Beef Chicago with mustard, relish, pickles, tomatoes, celery salt, and sport peppers on a poppy seed bun. In the 1980s, they purchased the modest 780-square-foot building that still houses the restaurant today. Back then, a Chicago dog cost just $1.45. When the Stars finally retired, it looked like Hot Dog Heaven might disappear forever. Fortunately, Joe Barra stepped in to keep the legend alive. Rather than reinventing the place, he kept everything exactly the way people loved it. The menu remains a tribute to classic Chicago street food. You can still order a dog topped with mustard, grilled onions, and sauerkraut, or go for chili and chopped onions. If you want the full Illinois experience, there's the classic Chicago dog piled high with mustard, onions, neon relish, tomatoes, pickles, celery salt, and sport peppers. The menu also includes Chicago-style Italian beef sandwiches, sausage and peppers heroes, burgers, and chicken sandwiches. I ordered the Polish sausage with mustard, grilled onions, and hot peppers. The fries arrived hot, crispy, and perfectly crinkle-cut the way God intended. After I finished my sandwich, only one thought came to mind: Dang, that was good. The bun really makes it. This is old school comfort food done right. Prices aren't what they were in 1979. My Polish sausage and fries came to about $13, but it was worth every penny. Inside is tight with stools at the counter along the window, but there are three tables out front where you can enjoy your meal while watching the parade of traffic roar down Sunrise Boulevard. For over 40 years Hot dog Heaven has been serving up exactly what the community is craving. When was the last time you visited this iconic stand?

I did a quick search of the area and Hot Dog Heaven, a place I had marked to visit some day, was near by. Online it looked like you could order ahead, but decided to try my luck ordering in person. I arrived to a place that had a handful of customers all in different phases of ordering or waiting for their food. I'm sure it helped that I was hungry, but I ordered fast. 2 dogs to go and the philly steak egg rolls. I had asked, "what's good to eat in the car on the way home?",, a couple people said the egg rolls. They were right. I don't know how they make them, but I would swear they were made in house. Great beef. The hot dogs made it safely home. a tasty Chicago dog and a Polish sausage. the latter was the winner, with its shrooms and sautéed onions. I'm surprised it took me this long to stop in, but it won't be long till I'm back.

The nostalgia hit me the second we walked in. The inside hasn't changed a bit, and honestly, that's what makes this place so special. In a world full of corporate chains and overdone concepts, Arbetter's is the real deal of authentic, classic, and full of character. I loved seeing the old Larry Bird poster still on the wall, the photos of infamous locals, and that beautifully simple menu that proves you don't need a hundred options when you've perfected what you do. I had the C.O. hot dog with cheese fries, and my boyfriend went with the chili cheese onion dog. Absolute perfection. You simply do not mess with a formula this good.
