Honestly, I didn't love it. There was only one sugar-free option, vanilla, and maybe that was the issue. I normally get sugar-free hazelnut so maybe that was the issue. The coffee seemed a decent quality and I liked that they were focused on the sourcing of the coffee. My server wasn't super friendly with me, but was with a number of others who seemed to be regulars. She seemed a little put off when I asked about sugar-free syrup. Not sure if I was being insulting as they do note that they make their syrups in house. At least the coffee wasn't bitter & they did have indoor seating which I appreciated. read more

(tourist review) What's Good: For those that like the taste of espresso, the Cortado was made to perfection. Espresso taste shines through with a hint of creaminess from the milk. If you want more of the espresso taste, Machiatto is your bet (it's not the fake Starbucks version) or Doppio (for straight espresso). For more flavor, go with the Lattes and add one of their homemade syrups. Hazelnut was tasty. Other Notes: They had their own lot so parking is easy. Located in the Northwest area of Bend, it's nearby a small street where Sparrow Bakery is with other shops and stores around. They offer some pastries here, but Sparrow has a lot of great options and is a couple minutes away. Could be a good 2-stop trip if you have a few minutes to spare. read more

Eh. The best part of this Thump location was getting there. As someone just visiting Bend it gave me a chance to see a part of town that I wouldn't have otherwise seen. Also, Google navigator does traffic circles surprisingly well and I got a kick out of that. Had a Belgian mocha. "Belgian" is the type of chocolate used. Not very sweet, which I'm sure many prefer, but I like my mochas a tad sweeter. And, of course, these are the fancy mochas that don't come with whipped cream on top. Also had a Snickerdoodle cookie. Always on the lookout for a good Snickerdoodle, I wouldn't order this one again. Had that weird lemon-y flavor often awkwardly noticed in baked goods, I'm not sure what it is but it doesn't belong in what's essentially a sugar cookie with cinnamon. Also, at $2.50 each, yeah, nope. Slow service. I get the whole "hand crafted" thing, but I was the only one in line and it still took probably 5 minutes to get my drink. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty, but not sure why it took so long. Parking could get tight. This location is in the back corner of a professional office park so Thump shares a parking lot that's essentially employee parking for many businesses - meaning most parking places won't turn over during the day while people are working. On the upside, the place does have a good vibe with plenty of seating - both inside and out - and the wifi signal seemed strong. Outside is a fire pit which could be neat at night, especially in the winter, if the place is even open at night. Generally speaking, Thump probably isn't for me but it could be for you depending on your personal taste, and this location specifically would be a nice break for people working / going to school / passing through the the neighborhood. read more

Thump's Roastery was the first coffee shop I visited in Bend. Needless to say, I had a hard time finding any shop I enjoyed as much as Thump after that. The coffee here is good. They roast their own beans, but aren't too third-wave to make a dang good mocha or latte. I love when the Ethiopia is on drip, tasting the berry notes is one of my favorite things. Eating a gluten and dairy-free diet, I also appreciate that they make their own paleo muffins. I hear the other pastries are good too, I just get to look and smell On top of all of that, there's space outside for kiddos, families, and pups. If it's chilly, there's a fire going. And, you just can't beat the view of the cascades from this location. The baristas and staff work hard to have genuine interactions with their guests, it's an overall great place to visit. I highly recommend visiting this spot! read more

Both the downtown location and this location had pretty weak or overly milky chais, but they were fine... not so bad as to ask for a remake. Okay selection of pastries and foods. I just tried this coffee shop yesterday for the first time. Wow is this place beautiful. Huge windows overlooking the high schools baseball fields and the snow topped mountains in the background. They roast the beans on site, so you don't get fresher then that, plus they have a bakery on site as well. But what really sold me on this place was the staff. I walked in and told them it was my first time there and Pete and the girl working with him were incredibly nice. They even cared to shake my hand and learn my name. For someone who works from home, and therefore goes to a coffee shop often, the staff is a huge plus. I sat down to work and about ten minutes later Pete came up to me with a second drink and say it was a special treat for me since it was my first time in. Now I'm sure they just made an extra drink accidentally for someone, but instead of throwing it out they gave it to me and made me feel special. It made my day! And on the way out an hour later they yelled "By Rachelle, see you next time." It was so sweet. I think I'm in love with this place and their staff. Whoever is hiring, is doing a great job! read more

Went here with a friend who's been going here for years. Ordered an iced vanilla latte. The barista left the shot sitting for too long and the coffee tasted burnt as well as lacking vanilla flavor. She kindly remade it but then stated "if this one tastes burnt maybe you just don't like our coffee." Second came out burnt as well and I stood there watching the shot sit while she attended to other customers. She remade it again and showed us that she was using "the correct milk and syrup" and pulled the shot on time. Still did not taste right. We had to drive to the other location (downtown) where it was made perfectly. Although the location is beautiful the service was terrible and the attitude of the barista was shocking. I definitely do not recommend going to this location until they properly train the baristas. read more

Barista at the York Drive location burnt my shots 3 times in a row. I have been coming to thump for several years, and always order the same thing, so when I got my coffee I knew it tasted very off. I asked her to re-make it, and said the shot tasted a little burnt, to which she replied "you just may not like our coffee". The second time she made it, she had still burnt the shots, so I asked her to re-make it once more. Shots were still burnt even the third time around. I ended up going to their other location downtown and had them re-make it, and they were able to make it correctly the first time without burning the shots. If you want to try Thump avoid the location on York drive, and only go to the downtown location, it is worth the hassle of parking. read more

Thump on York is just my favorite place. The staff is always kind and super competent! Important when you can only have decaf- it's less forgiving than regular espresso drinks. Avocado dill toast is simply addictive and has become a regular habit for me. You won't regret giving these great kids a try- yummy food, excellent service. read more

Love the coffee and location. The food items like smashed avocado toast are good. The one thing that I dont understand is the loud blasting music. It's a coffeeshop not a bar. Generally speaking I would guess that people go to a coffeeshop to talk. But you have to yell to be heard. Or maybe you want to have a coffee while working on you laptop. Blaring music is not copacetic with either. I'm afraid that as much as I like this place I'll go elsewhere when I want to meet someone for coffee. read more

Thump is one of the better roasters in Bend and this is a new venue for them tucked in to a relatively new commercial park in the Northwest Crossing area. The espresso drinks are as good as the best in Bend. Upscale industrial decor and airy. Plenty of seating with lots of glass for looking west to the mountains makes for a pleasant setting. Thump purchased a well respected bakery recently and I believe incorporated it into their business. There are baked goods (really good bagels), and a modest food menu. During the week it gets busy later in the morning and the weekends are less so. One of my favorite spots. And I should mention, a really nice bunch of people working there. read more

Hands down the BEST coffee and bakery in Bend! We just moved here two months ago and I loved my local coffee shop. After many recommendations for here and we tried them all, Thump wins! The service, friendly staff and the detail are amazing but the flavor of the coffee is unbeatable. Always rich and perfect. Can taste the richness in every drink. DO NOT GO TO THIS COFFEE HOUSE!!! Extremely disappointed with the service! Beautiful building and great location for after school snacks and coffee. I've been to the place at least 6 times and 5 of the times the service was horrible. Today after ordering a bagel and cream cheese, we waited 10 minutes while the person at the counter took everyones order behind us and served all of them first. Then I finally asked for our food and she said sure, and walked to the back and attempted to look for it. As if the food made itself?? We couldn't wait any longer so we left without our food or a refund. I'm disappointed because I had high hopes for a coffee house near my home, and kids school that we could enjoy and frequent. I heard from other friends that live near by that they didn't like the coffee and the service but I took my chances and overlooked it. read more
