I last golfed here 12 years ago on the 4th of July weekend on a Friday morning. Was followed by a mower for 1 holes. I finally asked him what was he doing. He told me to stay on the cart path even though there is not one. I brought this up when I left and got a "sorry about that" I have not been back since. As a former who got terminated for reasons I was never informed of, written up for or never an issue in almost Two years until they fired me. Management has no idea how to communicate, how to be appreciative of those who do their job and then more, don't have to be asked to do the dirty work, isn't on their phones throughout business times with personal calls, on dating apps or standing around discussing personal lives or personal drama. The owner and GM don't care about nothing, except the mighty dollar and who sucks up to them the best! I gave everything I had to only be fed a line of bullshit for my termination. I went to my Grandbabies birthday party at Thumper Pond and it does not say anywhere on their web page about not having no longer birthday packages for families for staying or the wrist bands. They charged 1 yr old children and 18 month for the $16.00 swim wrist band. Personally they should have been charged. Older lady at front desk with another one was rude to me and my family. We will be taking our business else where. I strongly suggest the staff take a course on customer service and personal development. Also please drug test all staff. One of the life guards was all over the place. Sad we used to enjoy making memories with our family there. read more

Stayed here for a wedding and the entire hotel needs major updates. Peeling wallpaper, cracks and random holes in the ceiling, old signs where they just colored over the things they no longer have with Sharpie (no spa, no snack bar, etc.). The staff lost our reservation and was incredibly rude the entire time we interacted with them. We had to get new keys 3 times and they just kept blaming us. We couldn't use the keys on any outside door, and the restaurant staff just said, yeah that happens a lot. We were here for a wedding and they didn't even stop the golfers during the wedding. People were yelling and driving right behind the couple during the ceremony. It was not a great experience at all especially for $200 a night??? I don't even pay that at Hilton and Marriott, and their rooms are at least clean. The internet also didn't work and neither did the remote for the tv. read more

My family and I were here for a wedding this weekend. The spot is stunning! A beautiful gold course, gorgeous planters and landscaping, and a great patio. While the resort has obviously been short staffed post pandemic--our check-in was delayed quite a bit and the restaurant service was a bit slow--the staff was absolutely wonderful...kind, genuine, and hard working. It was really great to see this kind of team work even through what has to be a frustrating time for them. Be patient, folks, they'll get back to where they need to be. In the mean time, enjoy the beautiful scenery and the lovely people. read more

We'll.....for the price they charge for the room at this resort, one would rightfully expect a pristinely clean room. Where shall I begin? *Dried up pee on the back of the toilet which was very visible when the lid was closed *visible soap scum around bottom of jacuzzi tub as well as on the hard to reach far wall of it *old pink color food splatter in bottom of fridge *food crumbs on the desk * major dirt/dust build up on the fireplace vents. *microwave stinks of burnt pop corn and glass plate is filthy Apparently cleaning and disinfecting does NOT take place here. Thank goodness I had a container of disinfecting wipes in the car!!!! Management did give a $50 reduction on the first nights stay which is very kind but ..... Can I recommend this resort? Maybe for day use as it is a beautiful set up. The room, not so much!!!! read more

Stayed at the hotel this past weekend. When renting a room Thumper Pond requires you to sign a document that you will wear a mask. The employees when they are not behind the plexiglass do not wear masks and nor did the cleaning crews or pool attendants. I'd say close to 80% of the guests as a result did the same. The low score is for not enforcing what they made people sign and the staff not following their own rules. read more

I'm reviewing the resort restaurant Willie T's. Busy Saturday night at 6 pm, but we were still able to get a table for three with no wait. Nice casual atmosphere in one large open room. The bar is off to one side with a pool table and darts on the other side. We sat at a high table by the back windows overlooking the golf course. The menu is large with sandwiches, burgers, pizza or steaks, ribs, fish and chicken. This is what we had: Sirloin steak was done perfectly. Chicken and ribs were requested gluten free so they came with no sauce, but the ribs still fell of the bones and were very flavorful. They didn't even need the sauce. Chicken was juicy and tender. Salmon was overdone and I didn't care for the maple sauce that came on it. You get a choice of two sides and the sweet potato fries were my favorite. All portions were huge! Service was fast and friendly. read more

Honestly if I could give this place one star I would. I was part of one of the wedding parties over this last weekend. We all spent a lot of money. My rooms bathroom had multiple issues. The toilet ran the whole time and the faucet to the shower didn't work well and the water would keep running. You could hear the people above you and next to you like you were in the same room. Then our wedding party decided to have drinks on Friday night at Willy T's. During that time the bartender was super rude to myself and the maid of honor as well to other staff and employees. Told us that they weren't serving us anymore even though it wasn't last call or anything. So we went back outside. Other people from our group went inside upset as we came out upset. Eventually the manger came out and apologized. We ended up being able to have more drinks. Then Sunday afternoon a few of us went back hoping to get a drink or two. We stood at the door for ten plus minutes waiting to be seated. Multiple staff seen us and kept telling us they would be right there. Finally we got to our table. The seater threw the menus at us and left. A waitress never came to our table. We eventually got up and left. This morning while checking out I tried to tell the front desk clerk about all the issues and she acted like it was no big deal. I know they are short staffed we all are. But this was more then that. From what I have read it has been an issue prior to COVID. There was a lot of us there for the weekend for multiple weddings. We spent a lot of money and got terrible service. I would not recommend this place ever! read more

No AC for a wedding in JULY. Hotel management was well aware there was a problem and took no action to fix it for several hours despite guess begging for some sort of relief, and the help that the 150+ people got was two fans. TWO. The wifi was not working and from looking at other reviews - seems to not work more than it does. Also the price you're quoted on the phone does not match your bill. There are "resort fees" which i find strange because aren't you already paying to stay at a .....resort? If it weren't for the wonderful guests, and gracious hosts (the parents of the bride and groom not the hotel hosts) it would have been 100% unbearable. This would be a wonderful spot for the taliban to vacation. read more

This review is for Willy T's: They recently had a kitchen fire and are operating on a mobile kitchen according to Facebook. This is something they should post or otherwise let people know. Tonight was something to remember: First a very limited menu. Second a long wait for food. Third was very disappointing food. I had chicken alfredo which was only warm and had very little alfredo sauce (you could taste it but not see it). The wait staff attempted to cover by always asking if you needed another drink or bowl of popcorn. Steer clear until they get things back in business and then at your own risk. read more

I attended a wedding here this past weekend and stayed in the hotel. The room I booked, which contained a king bed and whirlpool, was fabulous. Absolutely huge, with a good sized closet, a loveseat, plenty of walking around space. And did I mention a whirlpool? I had minimal interactions with the staff, but they were decent. My crowd hung out a lot in Willy T's, the on-site bar/restaurant. I didn't eat there but heard rave reviews about the tater tots (stuffed with meat & cheese, how can you go wrong?!). The grounds were lovely and there was ample parking. I did catch wind of a kerfuffle at the wedding dinner - a mix-up between ordered meals and received meals (someone ordered chicken and got the steak, oh no!) but the staff seemed to handle it well. With the wedding discount, the upgraded room was a manageable price, but I don't have reason to go back. read more

We stayed here during the fourth of July holiday and the hotel is fabulous. Eating breakfast out on the deck every morning is great. Our room was good and the service is good too, and a great value for the prices. The only negative is the gym is very warm, and should have a fan as an option for those wanting to work out. Terrible experience first took forever to checking only to find out website was wrong on pool hours, and the restaurant and bar were closed. I paid 160 for an average hotel stay. I looked forward to my stay and am most likely cancelling all future plans to stay at thumperpond. I'm aggrivated and outragedand extremely disapointed. Tried asking the desk if I could just cancel to go elsewhere and was told unfortunately not. What a joke. read more

My review is strictly about our dinner experience tonight at Willie Ts. The service was just terrible and the food ok. They really need to hire staff capable to serve their guests. We waited 15 minutes for a simple drink from the bar. We have stayed in the hotel and were very pleased with the rooms,etc The setting beautiful and the golf is great. Stayed at Thumper for a weekend get away with the kids and friends with their kids. Thumper Pond holds a soft spot for both couples because we both got married at that resort. The hotel is in need of updates to the rooms and hotel in general. My main issue was the water park. The water was so cold that the kids couldn't even enjoy themselves. Also because the water was so cold the hot tub was full of kids swimming in there and jumping in and really trying to play. It's really a safety issue. We talked to the pool attendant and asked them to turn the heat on and they said they can't because the water level was too low. To me, if I worked there I would maintain a proper water level and ensure a proper pool temperature. Overall the staff was great and the food and drinks were good. We won't be back simply because the pool was too dang cold. Please fix that so we can come back and enjoy the resort. Thanks read more

This waterpark is smaller than most; there is no lazy river, only one tube waterslide (but does have a body slide) not a whole lot of extras for the kids... however with that being said we spent a few good hours here. We came here with our 13, 5, and 3 year olds. The tube slide was super fun, and for the price was a great family fun day! We camp close to here so we will definitely come back! read more

Thumper Pond Resort has malfunctioning air conditioning throughout their banquet rooms. It would have been courteous to give the bride and groom some notice of this prior to their special day. If you are considering a comfortable and cool wedding venue in the summer season, please reconsider. The staff did not offer much of an alternative solution or a fix for the problem. Coming from a background in hospitality and customer service - this was all around unacceptable. read more

The wonderful pool area with the lazy river and waterslides is no more as the roof collapsed on the entire pool area one evening (apparently only ten minutes after someone had been in there!) Not sure yet if they plan to rebuild. read more

Fun water park area and a great golf course, but the front desk staff were not helpful and the only option for food is an attached restaurant with terrible service and mediocre food. We came here as we had a free one night stay voucher. I do not think that we would pay over $200 per night to stay here if we had to pay for it ourselves. read more

Deer hunters widow here! Spent Saturday night at this fabulous hotel. I was extremely pleased with my stay! Friendly/speedy staff, super clean, nice pool area & little arcade room. The kids spent all evening in the pool! Rooms are beautiful & super clean. Totally love this hotel & going again real soon!!! Give the general manager a big raise! AWFUL SERVICE. I honestly wouldn't give them a star if I could. Stayed there for a wedding and the staff was extremely short and rude as we were checking in. They overbooked us despite having a confirmation and did not try very hard to help us. The restaurant was awful. They lost our order slip (when we literally ordered small items like 2 eggs and 2 pieces of toast) and didn't tell us until after wait and hour and a half. When we asked they said we lost it and then breakfast was about to close but they would give us lunch. We were from out of town, over 5 hours away, and did not want to stay because we needed to get home. The manager then said "well that's too bad" and didn't honor us with anything. I would not go back. They were awful. read more

1 star because although its a very Beautiful looking establishment I was very disappointed with the business's managerial and hosipitality focus. The last weekend was a record heat wave across the continent of North America. I noticed the hallways were hot while our confrence room was freezing at only 70°. Unsurprisingly, later we came to find out during my good friends wedding reception that there were in fact multiple vents broken ( supposedly only in the reception hall to later find out it was through-out most the hotel except for the individual hotel rooms). A lot of the guests were obviously perspiring and many couldnt reside in the reception hall because of the heat. It took almost 2 hours for the wedding party to recieve any sort of information in regards to the situation at hand let alone a single fan to help cool the reception room. This reception room had no ceiling fans and only one small side door that could have been utilized to help cool the room off. I personally have been in the hospitality industry for 11 to 12 years and have never seen such a lack of empathy for a group of people in a wedding being as I too serve and host wedding partys for a local bar in ND. I understand the amount of chaos it takes to run a beautiful business and how easily things can become unorganized. Unfortunately, my greatest concern is why there were no posted signs informing guests of the ventilation system being out of order in some parts if not most of the building during one of the hottest times known to man. Why was no one directly informed of this issue, be it us or the wedding planner hired from the resort? Why were they not prepared or may I ask concerned about hosting a 180 to 200 person event without supplying some sort of small little hand held fans or industrial sized fans ( that they have on hand) before the reception even started? Systems break and issues do arise but our wedding party would have been three times as understanding and compassionate to the business if we felt as though the business itself showed some compassion and understanding to our situation. All in all, it sounds as though the management team isnt concerned with the safety and health of their guests. There have been 30 deaths in Canada due to this heat wave. More precaution needs to be taken into consideratiom when it comes to hosting events in a room with No A/C in the beginning of July. Next to prove my point further about the lack of organization and managerial presence, the resteraunt attached to the hotel had upmost of 10 tables within the whole restaraunt the next morning. Their servers were dressed in a some what casual uniform yet the food took an hour and a half to reach the tables around us and for our larger party. (a wait that would be understandable for a fine dining restaraunt) Our Large party in their restaraunt was obviously upset and no 'Manager' or server approached the table asking or even appearing concerned about our experience. Again, I understand the unorganization that naturally co-exists with the hospitality industry but this establisment seems to have no management helping run the business in an effective way and it isnt directly concerned about their guests experience. read more

willy t's has gotten way better since they sent that old bar manager packing, she was mean, rude and swore. food at willys is kind of hit and miss. pizzas are kinda gross. waterpark and gamerooms are awesome. would recommend to others read more

The golf course is gorgeous and a fun challenge! Golf staff all helpful. The restaurant is hit and miss. Unfortunately I have had more misses this summer than hits! I avoid certain wait staff due to rudeness, they serve chicken patties instead of chicken fingers, burnt puta bread and stale chips with good artichoke dip, rotten lettuce with mystery ick hidden under the baby chicken nuggets they used to replace the mystery meat chicken patties. Soups usually good, good quesadillas, last two orders of the famous tots were burned. I love this place so hope the kitchen can up its game! Stopped for lunch today and the chef hadn't decided yet in the daily special..sort of one thing after the other. Please work on minor tweaks to make this the best place around! Purchased their Special CBS Local Offer of 2 nights for $120 and at the same time they are running Spring Break specials and catering to those people and telling me I cannot use my 2 night special that is already purchased and paid for in advance!! Want me to use it in April or May (expires May 31) when my lake home on Ottertail will be open and I can stay there....definitely not the operation Thumper Pond used to be - only option is to get my $120 back and let them have the spring break rug rats! read more

Six of us local folk went to eat on a Sat night. They were a little busy so we were told we'd have to wait. There was a table off to the side but we were told we couldn't sit there. (Nobody sat there the whole time we were waiting) We went and stood at the bar to order a drink while we waited. The bartender who was doing nothing had his back to us and we waited, waited, waited. Finally he turned around and asked us if we wanted something - Duh! We waited for approx 15 minutes and were seated in a booth. That was the last time anyone paid any attention to us. We sat there for approx 1/2 hour and finally just got up and walked out. Our group then proceeded to the Hoot & Holler in Ottertail and got excellent service. Won't be recommending Thumper to anyone! read more

Had an excellent stay at thumper over the weekend. Staff was extremely welcoming and kind when we checked in. Our room was clean and big which is great when you are traveling with kids. We ate at the tavern in the hotel- good came out in literally ten minutes which is amazing. Everything was fresh and hot. We had burgers and some items off the kids menu. Burgers were delicious I would highly recommend trying one. It was a really good experience. Of course we had to hit up the water park which is always a hit. Excellent pool area. Pool water was pretty cold, but that's not really a big deal. Overall excellent experience. We will certainly be back. read more
