The atmosphere is exactly what you want in a sports bar--tons of TVs, an energetic crowd, and a great vibe.. but it's also surprisingly a fantastic place to bring a date. It strikes that perfect balance between fun and comfortable. The food is excellent, especially the New York-style pizza, which is honestly some of the best you'll find at a bar. Honestly one of the best places I've been to! I came randomly bar hoping on a friday with my friend. I've never felt so welcomed. The place has big windows and feels so fresh while it's 90 degrees. The bartender David was very attentive and mellow. The place is clean and everyone is super friendly. I ordered a bbq chicken pizza and it was so flavorful. I also ordered a Negroni, which surprisingly a lot of bars messed up, but they made the portions corrects and it was delicious. Also I saw the other 1 star review about a bar employee getting arrested, this did not happen he was mad people were in front of his parents watching the game and got confrontational. They called the cops after they got kicked out and cops did come but I didn't see anyone get arrested. Everything was handled professionally and I had a great time. read more

I've been coming to Nickel Mine for approximately seven years, and until this incident I would have recommended it without hesitation. Unfortunately, my most recent visit completely changed my opinion of this establishment. Being randomly assaulted by a drunken security staffer then watching him threaten two women for standing up to him acting like a bully is a bit of a deal breaker. During my visit, I was involved in a confrontation with a member of the bar's security staff who appeared to be off duty but was wearing his security attire. During the incident, in-between his beers, he walked up and physically grabbed me without my consent and threatened the two women I was with. The situation escalated to the point that police responded to the bar. I filed a police report, and the security staff member was arrested that evening. What was equally disappointing was how the situation was handled afterward. Rather than immediately addressing what had occurred and reassuring customers, I left feeling that customer safety was not treated with the seriousness the situation deserved. Management after just speaking with the individual told police once they arrived that they had not seen the individual in a while and was not in the building. After management tried to hide the individual the police found him in the back hiding. After being a loyal customer for seven years, this experience completely changed my view of the business. No customer should have to experience being physically grabbed or witness the people they are with being threatened while simply trying to enjoy an evening out. Based on this experience, I recommend stay away from The Nickel Mine and hope management takes meaningful steps to ensure the safety of its patrons from it's own Staff. read more

I can forgive low quality food, but the service was INSANE. Aggressive bartenders and waiters who try their hardest to avoid eye contact to check on a table (I had to literally chase one down who was running away from me haha). The bartender named Videl or Miguel scared me due to his aggression and this was off bat no prior context. And he made my party feel uncomfortable. Plot twist he's a manager - crazy work. I met some friends here who come regularly. Since I don't go to bars and clubs, it's a first visit for me. They ordered their drinks and we shared spinach artichoke dip with chips and fried chicken basket with sweet potato fries. I also ordered a slice of supreme pizza. I was really surprised how big the food servings were. There's 5 of us but we didn't even finished the dip nor the fries. And they're surprisingly good too. This bar is big in size and I was told by friends that it gets pretty packed. There's also a hidden bar behind the bookshelves but at the time of our visit, it's being renovated so something to check out next time. The food is classic dive bar level edible, forgettable, and not winning any awards. It gets very loud, and the crowd quality can be a bit of a wild card depending on the night or the game. Not ideal for groups since reservations aren't really a thing. Once you place your first order, the servers tend to disappear like they're part of the entertainment and reordering becomes a competitive sport of its own. I think it's probably a better experience if you are a regular. We went for the World Cup but left at half time. There was a line to get in to the bar and a 2nd line of people formed and the bouncer said he didn't care. Then we tried hard to find a place to stand because all the tables had reserved signs on it. We ended up in a corner attempting to be out of the way. A server came up to us and told us we were blocking the view of her dad and grabbed reserved chairs and told us to sit down. I noticed this sports bar on my commute one day and absolutely loved it from the outside. Open window concept with plenty of tv's that were visible from the outside playing football. Say less. Parking was easy and convenient in the back with a few meter spaces surrounding the block as well. I have been here mainly during the day/happy hour and don't know what the vibe is at night, but service was quick. Security at the front checked ID. We tried their loaded tots and sliders and were def happy about our order. The girl helping us was nice. There is also a hidden private room in the back thru their library that also has a tv and seating. Each time I have come, I have enjoyed, but I also think that has alot to do with the time I am there. I don't need the rowdy. Overall this place as others have said isn't near anything. It seems to be a local spot for many of the apartments in the area. Such a fun bar! Came here for happy hour with a group of girlfriends. It's a large bar that has multiple options for seating. We were able to catch their happy hour menu which was great since there were food and drinks combos as well as drinks for 10 dollars. We ordered the pizza slices which were such a great price and definitely reminded me of New York style pizza. Everything was reasonably priced and delicious. I came here for happy hour last Friday. It was underneath my nose for the longest time. Right across from the street from the Starbucks I frequent. The bar was very spacious. We sat in the back by the bookshelf. It was very aesthetically pleasing. I ordered the 10 to 1 Mai Tai. It was strong! Definitely did what it needed to do. For food, we ordered buffalo & garlic parmesan wings, french fries, fried mushrooms, & nachos. Everything was pretty tasty, with the exception of the shrooms, I'm not a fan of those. The lack of self-awareness is insane. When asked to please park somewhere else (far away!) so they don't jolt us awake, there was no change. This person is behaving like an absolute selfish jerk. We are JOLTED awake every night he works. I hope they get evicted. The manager and bartender are also unfriendly even though they see us walking by and know we live around there.
