I met some friends here who come regularly. Since I don't go to bars and clubs, it's a first visit for me. They ordered their drinks and we shared spinach artichoke dip with chips and fried chicken basket with sweet potato fries. I also ordered a slice of supreme pizza. I was really surprised how big the food servings were. There's 5 of us but we didn't even finished the dip nor the fries. And they're surprisingly good too. This bar is big in size and I was told by friends that it gets pretty packed. There's also a hidden bar behind the bookshelves but at the time of our visit, it's being renovated so something to check out next time. There's also a surprise waiting for everyone at the restrooms but I don't want to spoil the reveal. Just pay attention to the doors for both men and women. It'll bring a smile to your face about its special meaning.

Nickel hazy, so much head short pour. $9

Food is great, service is hit or miss, really convenient location. Definitely get the pepperoni pizza. Depending on who is pouring the beers, you may be getting shorted.

Pizza slice at Nickel bar! Wow! Best in town! Ever!

Best pizza in town!!!!! No joke! See picture taken today, I mean just watching it you are salivating, isn't it? I am adept of this bar since the inception. Pauly the manager is amazing, and carries the best service ever. Good pizzas, good drinks, all NFL, NBA's life transmission and great girls around the bar! Love it. Marjan ... the famous designer. Best!

I noticed this sports bar on my commute one day and absolutely loved it from the outside. Open window concept with plenty of tv's that were visible from the outside playing football. Say less. Parking was easy and convenient in the back with a few meter spaces surrounding the block as well. I have been here mainly during the day/happy hour and don't know what the vibe is at night, but service was quick. Security at the front checked ID. We tried their loaded tots and sliders and were def happy about our order. The girl helping us was nice. There is also a hidden private room in the back thru their library that also has a tv and seating. Each time I have come, I have enjoyed, but I also think that has alot to do with the time I am there. I don't need the rowdy. Overall this place as others have said isn't near anything. It seems to be a local spot for many of the apartments in the area. But it's a cool spot for HH, to enjoy sports and even play some of their games (although they can def use an upgrade as many boxes are missing parts).

The female bartender that is dating the owner is horrible. As a female and seeing all male bartenders i thought she would be more accommodating but I was so wrong. She was the worst female bartender I have ever met. Photos to be attracted. To add....it started because instead of closing out we decided to keep it open and after that she was ignoring us. I am only guessing that is why she was horrible and I mean horrible. We changed our minds but we still stayed and payed. Because of her I will never go back and I have a picture of her and I will let my friends know not to go when she is there

love my neighborhood sports bar, but girl... fix your tables! drinks be sliding off as soon as they're put down! servers don't care anything past getting your order physically to the table lmao but maybe that's part of its charm? food is decent being bar food. pizza is always safe. this place could be so much more enjoyable & iconic, but... does it need to be? lol

My drink was decent, it was a whiskey sour but it tasted more sour than alcohol. Service was spotty, bartender took my order and didn't check back in at any other time. Another bartender, a woman came and greeted me tho and she wasn't even serving me! The owner is also not the friendliest or sociable.... Didn't greet me or spark conversation as do most hosts. I at least expected him to make a round greeting guests but not even that. The wings were good tho! Hospitality today could've been better.

I have a weekly appointment around this area and I sometimes arrive too early. What else to do but have a quick drink? They have happy hour Monday -Friday from 3-7pm so it's perfect! The bartenders are super friendly and since they open at 3pm it rarely gets packed until around 6pm. The happy hour cheeseburger is more like the side of two sliders out together but it is quite tasty! The fries are yummy but stay away from the sauce it comes with. YUCK! Otherwise great place to have a quick drink and snacks.

I self sat at the bar and waited a good 15-20 minutes before someone approached me to take my order, to keep tab open, they keep your card, I asked the bartender about the stamps for yelp check in( treat o' clock event) but she was also unaware and clueless. So I just proceeded to order something and checked in: I ordered garlic fries and they were delicious. I really enjoyed each dipping sauce it came with: ranch, ketchup and thousand island? I also had the Hefeweizen beer and that was also delicious. Prices were reasonable and if you check in, you let them know and you can get a "fun shot" I had one and it was really good. I would come back here if I was near the area for a quick bite and drink.

Great spot for watching a game. True sports bars are surprisingly tough to find in LA, but this one hits the mark. I sat at the bar and the service was friendly, attentive, and on top of things. The menu is classic bar fare, but everything was prepared well and came out hot. The real standout is the New York-style pizza. Their reputation for it is well earned -- thin crust, good chew, and just the right amount of fold. Definitely a place I'd come back to for a game day.

Ask the Community - The Nickel Mine

I'm looking for a bar for my Meetup group gathering. Can everyone at a table open a tab individually/separately here?

Lakers is this a good place to watch Lakers game?

Yes! And if it's a big game, they will combine four screens into one. But other than that, there are screens all around playing a variety of games.

Do they have a bottomless mimosa?

Not anymore but I'm sure they will bring it back soon

What time and days is the happy hour?

    Monday - Friday 5pm to 8 pm! Also Sunday 4pm to 7pm

Is the sharks game on the TVs tonight?

Yes, you can request it to be shown on 1 of the dozens of TV (Go Kings!)

    Will you be showing UFC235?

    Yes

What time you stop selling food?

Hi Nelson, not sure if you were interested in a response to last night, but it's all dependent on how busy we are. Weekdays we stop serving food around midnight and on weekends at 2am.

Do you have NBA League Pass / access to out of market games?

    Yes

Do you play audio for the NFL playoff games?

Yes, we play sound for all NFL games.

Do they show Pro-wrestling like WWE?

Unforunately, we do not. We do show UFC.

There is a category of Los Angeles bar that exists outside the city's relentless cycle of openings…read moreand closings and soft launches and Instagram hype, a category that doesn't require a door policy or a design concept borrowed from a Wes Anderson film. It is the bar that walks in and earns the neighborhood's trust in a few short years, the bar that feels like it's been there forever because it figured out immediately what it was supposed to be. Tiny's Hi-Dive on Pico is that bar. It occupies the old Arsenal space, which if you've been in West LA long enough you watched go through its own identity crisis -- I had a trip-hop DJ residency there in a previous life, before it transmogrified into some paisley-wallpapered ersatz club that couldn't decide what it wanted to be. Tiny's has no such confusion. The name says dive. The floors say otherwise. The cocktails are made well, the food is made well, and the place is clean, which shouldn't be noteworthy but in a city where "dive bar" has become shorthand for either performative squalor or actual squalor, it is. It's a Chicago bar, which in Los Angeles means something specific. It means the hot dogs are correct. It means there are Italian beef sandwiches, and the Italian beef sandwiches are not a novelty item or a nod to a trend but an actual offering from people who understand the architecture of giardiniera and jus and thinly sliced beef on a roll that's engineered to get soggy at exactly the right rate. The food at Tiny's is way better than it has any right to be in a bar where nobody would blame you for ordering nothing but beer, and this is the tell -- when a bar kitchen is good without needing to be good, it means someone in the back actually gives a damn, not because the Yelp reviews demand it but because that's how they were raised. The happy hour lasts most of the day, which is either a business model or a philosophy, and at Tiny's the distinction is academic. The effect is that the place fills in waves and each wave brings a different crowd. The retirement set drifts in around lunch -- guys who've been coming here long enough to have a spot at the bar and a drink that appears without being ordered. By happy hour the mix gets eclectic: locals, people waiting out the particular misery of westbound Pico traffic at five-thirty, students, the kind of neighborhood cross-section that only happens at a place where a beer and a hot dog won't cost you twenty dollars. Later it gets busier and louder and on Wednesday nights there's live band karaoke, which is the superior form of karaoke, the form where actual musicians play behind you so your version of "White Wedding'" sounds ten percent less terrible than it would over a backing track. The jukebox is killer, which is a small detail that is not a small detail. A jukebox tells you everything about who owns a bar -- whether they trust their customers, whether they have taste, whether they understand that the difference between a good night and a great night is often just the right song at the right moment. The owners of Tiny's understand this. They are truly excellent people, the kind of owner-operators who are in the room and who care about the room and who have built a place that reflects something genuine about themselves rather than something calculated about the market. West Los Angeles is not a neighborhood that gets romanticized. It's a place you drive through, a stretch of Pico and Olympic and Santa Monica Boulevard that connects the Westside to the rest of the city, lined with strip malls and dry cleaners and the kind of mid-century commercial architecture that nobody photographs. It does not have a brand. It does not have a moment. What it has, on Pico, is Tiny's Hi-Dive -- a bar where they learn your dog's name before they learn yours, where there are treats behind the bar, where the bartenders will ask about your dog when you come in and mourn with you when they pass. That's not a pet policy. That's a value system. And it tells you everything you need to know about the place.

Here's the scoop on the parking:…read more Parking in the back lot is validated for 90mins before 5pm & 2hrs after 5pm. So you park, scan the QR code on the signs, & pay for EXACTLY 90 mins before 5pm or EXACTLY 2hrs after 5pm. It will ask for your license plate & cell number - it takes Apple pay. Don't close out the browser page, bc you'll need to enter in the parking validation. (Yes the total is a lot & yes you will be mad if you're used to what used to be easy & free parking. But just follow these instructions & have faith.) Once you get to your table, find the card next to the menus w/parking validation QR codes. Go back to the browser with the parking payment on your phone & scan the QR code that corresponds to the time of day you are there. It will automatically make your parking free, if you pre-paid for the correct amounts of time.
