The Green Belt is located in the heart of Scottsdale and is 11 miles long. It extends from Shea Boulevard in central Scottsdale all the way to Tempe Town Lake. The Scottsdale Green Belt is also known as Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt. It consists of parks, lakes, trails, picnic tables, gardens, and golf courses. There are so many activities to enjoy here like fishing, volleyball, and bike riding. My personal favorites are disc golf and the skate park. I like to stop here and break out my longboard for a ride. The nice about the Green Belt is that it is pretty well lit at night if you want to hang out later hours.

With that in mind, I braved the heat and stopped by Eldorado Park for a hour-long walk (hydration pack and sunscreen in tow). Located in Scottsdale, there's plenty of parking. The first thing that stands out is the size of the park. There's plenty of greenery, there are benches, there are picnic tables, there's a lake, there are playgrounds, there's disc golf, and more. Eldorado actually bleeds into another park so it takes quite a while if you're trying to explore it in its entirety. I wouldn't say Eldorado Park is the most picturesque park I've been to. Nor is it in the nicest part of town. But it did the job. There are so many hiking and walking opportunities in Phoenix. It was nice to try out a new spot.

I mostly come here to run…read more Riverview Park does make me wish I was a kid again because they have so many cool things for the little ones to enjoy. The parks I grew up playing at were nothing like this one. There is a 50-foot tall Genesis climbing tower, playgrounds with a rubber surface to protect from falls, a 60-foot long caterpillar mesh rope climbing structure and a splash pad. The lake is stocked for those that like to fish. There are picnic tables, a fountain and ramadas that can be reserved in advance. It is nice to come here in the evenings and see people going on walks and families gathering for celebrations. We all need to get out and enjoy the outdoors more in my opinion. Riverview Park is next door to Sloan Park and the Mesa Riverview shopping area. There is so much in this area to do and enjoy. I have really enjoyed living a short drive away from here the past couple of years. Riverview Park is located right off the 202 freeway and has plenty of parking.

Wanted to do something spontaneous while in the area. It was not crowded which was nice. We walked around and enjoyed the various shops. And peeking inside the nice trendy restaurants that are offered there. We passed by several groups of young girls celebrating bachelorettes. Super cute. The trailhead starts right at the base of the…read moremountain - don't be misled by Google Maps - just drive straight up the road leading to the mountain ahead. Once here there are several routes you can take varying from easy to challenging. Most importantly, please wear appropriate footwear!! I saw an older guy wearing Crocs without the back supports going up the path and he nearly toppled backwards several times. I was very worried for his well-being - this path really requires socks and shoes. Of note, depending on when you go and which direction you choose to go in, one side of the mountain has no relief from the sun - it is hot! The other side is shaded and pleasant. Whichever route you take, make sure to bring liquids to hydrate and know your limit. You can always get to a lower elevation and walk around the mountain if it gets too steep.
