Let me set the scene. I've got a wedding coming up in 2 weeks, but I'm going to be out of town for the week before. I'm a bridesmaid. I really need to fit my dress and I've really procrastinated, which is pretty typical. My dress is: too long, slit is too low (short girl problems), too tight (pandemic work from home problems), and the straps are too long (small boob problems.) I call to schedule an appointment but unfortunately Thao says she has to reschedule. I totally forget to reschedule. Now it's 13 days to the wedding. I'm worried because if it doesn't go well, I don't have the time to fix it again, since I'll be out of town until 2 days before the wedding. I call, and ask if she can do it in 10 days. No problem! I come, bring my heels, put on the dress and Thao finishes with her notes in like 10 minutes. Quick and easy. I come back 11 days later and the dress is perfect. Thao did an amazing job with my wedding dress alterations. I purchased my dress from a sample sale (sizing was a little too big and too long), knowing I would probably end up spending more on the alterations than my actual dress. When I first brought my dress in, Thao had me try it on and immediately could tell it was from a sample sale due to the stretch on the straps of the illusion neckline. I was impressed that she could tell so quickly! She quickly pinned up the loose parts to give me an idea of what it would look like fitted, and gave me a quote. It was a little more than I was expecting, so I took the dress home to think about it. I went to another seamstress who quoted me less, but fumbled around pinning the dress when doing the initial assessment. She quoted me less, but the bustle she showed me looked puffy and uneven. Needless to say, I was much more confident going to Thao. I brought my dress in two months prior to my wedding and had one more fitting prior to picking up my dress. I contacted Thao completely through text and she was always quick to respond. The location is a house, with the front room converted into a sewing studio, so don't be surprised when you're routed to a residential area. They are SUPER busy here, especially if you have an appointment on the weekend, but they're efficient and get the job done. This is a shop out of a residential neighborhood, very easy to find off Yelp, but be aware this is out of someone's house and not a traditional shop. I was given Thuy's information from the boutique where I bought my wedding dress (Brides of California in San Jose). I had a really hard time finding a dress that I loved, so I decided to buy a simple/less expensive dress with the hopes of having it altered to my liking. I was pretty nervous about this decision, as there are just so many things that could go wrong. I am SO grateful to Brides of CA for connecting me with Thuy! Every step of the process was carried out neatly and professionally, even though my alteration requests were fairly substantial and complicated. Thuy took out the entire train of my dress and added tulle and lace (which I picked out myself from a fabric store she recommended in Milpitas). She also added a lace trim, and opened up the back of the dress. All of her alterations are neat and durable - I know if someone steps on my dress during the wedding, the added tulle/lace won't tear. I dropped off my dress from Trudy's mid-July and picked up mid-August. Considering the amount of lace work on my dress that they had to work with to alter the dress to my size they're pretty quick! They offered better padding for the bust and helped make the straps on my dress removable so I can add them back in for my reception. Pandemic wedding getting postponed for over a year combined with being pregnant in between, giving birth, then gaining weight back... let's just say that the bridesmaid dress no longer fits. Came for a recent bridal dress alteration. I had a fairly difficult alteration (adding film transparent sleeves, taking in the dress by several inches, and adding some appliqué to the bust area). FIRST REVIEW OF 2020!!! Thuy works m.a.g.i.c. and I had to tell her that every appointment. She really knows what she's doing, which isn't a surprise since she's been doing this for 25+ years! To give background on my dress, I bought it off the rack a size 6 thinking it would only need to be scaled down to a size 4. By the time I went in for my second to last appointment, there were still a few more adjustments made because I think it ended up needing to be a size 2. Thuy made every adjustment needed to make sure it fit just right to my body. She had to hem and shorten the length, line the entire inside of the front (because a lot of it was see-thru tulle), worked with four layers of material, put 4 layers of bustling, covered up more of the cleavage area (because I'm a bit more conservative!), and ALL without losing the original beautiful flower designs. All that to say, the dress needed a lot more care and alterations that I originally expected, and I'm so glad it was in the best hands. She's extremely kind, understood all the feedback I gave her, was actually able to do everything she said she would and DELIVERED. Also not to mention her prices are so affordable on top of how quality her work is. My wedding is this coming weekend and I can't wait to wear my dress- and I think that's how every bride should feel. Excited to wear their dress on the big day. Can't recommend Thuy enough. Book her if you haven't already, you won't regret it. And book in advance especially for you spring and summer brides! I was super happy to have found a wedding dress alteration business so close to home, and at a good price at that! After the boutique I bought my wedding gown from quoted me $1500 for basic alterations (yikes!), I immediately had to find a place that was professional and fairly priced. Thuy's Pro Bridal Alterations popped up, and I had to make an appointment after reading so many positive reviews. Thuy and her daughter Thao work from their house, so don't be surprised with google maps takes you to a residential area. Upon our first meeting, I could tell right away that Thuy and Thao have an eye for altering wedding gowns. I put my dress on, and requested for the dress to just simply be altered to fit my body. She recommended to take in the sides, hem it to the appropriate length, and add cups. In addition, I asked her to add a bustle. She quoted me about $500 for the alterations, and I was soooo happy to hear it would cost less that half of what I got quoted originally! After agreeing on the amount and alterations, she pinned up the dress, and scheduled my for a 2nd fitting 3 weeks before the big day. I thought this was way too little time to make the needed changes, and I voiced my concern to Thao. She assured me that she has a great, hardworking team, and that my dress would be done on time. The 2nd fitting went well; she had already taken in the sides, but had to take it in more since I lost a few more pounds. Thuy has mastered her craft! I came to Thuy because my cousin recommended her. I was suppose to be a bridesmaid for a wedding in summer 2020. I had purchased my dress back in October 2019. In the craziness of 2020, with lockdown, SIP, and covid, by September 2021 my dress no longer fit me and I couldn't zip up my dress completely.
