Long overdue review for Minh, but I absolutely had the best experience with her! She tailored my reception dress for my wedding, and I was so nervous since the dress seemed complicated to alter. I rarely give reviews but I had to give Minh a review for saving my wedding dress. I bought my dress from Janene's and they incorrectly sized me which lead to an incorrect dress size. My dress was 2 sizes bigger than what it should've been. The shop offered to fix the siding and bust of the dress (due to their mistake) but it still wasn't a great job. I even went to another seamstress to fix the issues but there were still so many mistakes to the dress that I had to find another another alterations place/seamstress to fix the issues. My bust was too big but the top/zip was too tight due to the other place taking too much in and sewing the bra elastic onto the dress. At this point, I was over my dress and just wanted to add sleeves onto it to distract from the boob/bust area. I was recommended to Minh by a friend who had used her previously and loved her work. San Jose is a bit far from me which is why I didn't choose to goto her from the start but at this point I was desperate to have someone experience and knowledgable in the space fix my dress. I went to Minh to fix my bust, add sleeves, and open my dress a little. I took my dress to Minh just 2 weeks before my wedding. She was so knowledgable, patient, and friendly. She explained to me carefully how my dress became too tight and why my underwear lining now showed when it didn't before. Prior to this I was completely confused how my dress became so tight when in the fitting it was so loose. She then explained to me exactly how she would help me fix it. After leaving her shop, I felt so relieved and the stress I had initially had was gone because I knew my dress was in good hands. She was also able to turn around my dress incredibly fast (about one week). When I picked up my dress, she had fix the bust for me, added beautiful detachable sleeves, and let out my dress as much as she could so it wasn't so tight and you couldn't see the lining underneath (i.e. underwear too). I hated my dress before and felt like it was a sign of all the things that went wrong since purchasing it but Minh helped me love my dress again. Now I can't wait to wear it for my wedding! Highly recommend going to Minh with any of your alteration needs or even custom made dresses - she definitely knows what she's doing! My only regret is that I didn't go to Minh from the start. read more

I went to Minh Fashion to take my Jenny Yoo wedding dress in a size and it was a HORRIBLE experience. - Quality of work: Minh shortened the shoulder straps and one of them ripped less than 2 hours into my wedding. This is a result of Minh not taking the time to sew the strap back onto the dress after she cut it to shorten them. The strap had to be pinned with a safety pin and I spent the rest of my wedding worrying that I would have a serious dress malfunction. She also took in the sides and completely changed the integrity of the dress, but I was willing to overlook that if not for all the other issues. See pictures 1 and 2. - Communication - Minh did not respond to the majority of my texts and did not text or call me when my dress was ready. I had to keep calling her. Any time I asked for help she would rush me out of the store because she already took payment at her initial consult and didn't need to do any more work to get paid. She also takes payment through Zelle or Venmo and not credit card, so you have no consumer protection if she messes up. See picture 3. - Men's tuxedos - Minh altered my now-husband's tux and made it too tight. We didn't ask for her to take it out because we were so tired of trying to fix things with her. She did a good job shortening the train but that's not a difficult alteration. For something as important and pricey as altering a wedding dress, I put a lot of trust in her and she gave me back careless and horrible service. read more

Minh did a great job on hemming up the 2 layers of my chiffon fabric bridesmaid dress. Turnaround was less than a week. Only $20 per layer. She has only 1 fitting room so best to text her to let her know when you're coming by so that there's not too much of a long wait. It was going to be job hunting season for me, but I wanted to make sure that I was working with a tailor who knew their trade. After searching on Yelp for a tailor close to my home, I decided to give Minh Fashion a try. I decided to bring in a few pairs of jeans for hemming. The owner/tailor Minh was welcoming and within a few minutes, she got the measurements she needed. She took my phone number and the very next day she had all the jeans finished, maintaining the original hem on all of them. Overall, it looks great (picture provided) and weren't as noticeable as I thought it would look and feel! Test passed. So a few months later, I brought in an old suit jacket that needed shorter sleeves. Again, it was a straightforward and quick process; she had me stand in front of the mirror and verified how much length to take off. When I came back two days later, the suit jacket was finished and the sleeves were where I wanted them to be. But that's not all... Minh also noticed that I didn't open up the pockets (off the shelf suits jackets sometimes have their pockets sewed up) and opened them up for me. She even noticed some wear in the inside where the armpits were and took the initiative of fixing those as well (picture provided). Way above the call of duty, which impressed me.
