    Mole chicken enchiladas

My favorite mole in all of the DC area! We sat on the rooftop balcony and it was a fun atmosphere. We had a great waiter. If you like mole, this is the best around!

    Guacamole

My family and I have been eating at Tia Queta for around 40+ years; from its original location to its current one. Never a bad meal, and one of the few Mexican restaurants in the area that actually makes a Mole (top notch at that). Everyone is polite amongst the staff, providing a pleasant dining experience. Cozy seating with ceramics and glassware on the walls. It's a welcoming visit every time, always a great meal, and never a disappointment. While always being easy on the wallet.

Excellent food and the most beautiful atmosphere in Bethesda. Excellent food, very knowledgeable staff. Love the guac and mole!

Best mole in the area. Feels like you're at a grandma's house eating home cooked food in the best way.

The tortilla soup was fresh, flavorful, and comforting, loaded with crispy tortilla strips, creamy toppings, and just the right amount of spice. You can truly taste the freshness in every spoonful. The margaritas were perfectly balanced -- refreshing, smooth, and not overly sweet. Definitely the kind of drink you sip and immediately want another. Bonus points for their cute happy hour, which makes it an even better spot to unwind after a long day. Between the fresh food, great drinks, and relaxed vibe, Gringos & Mariachis is a solid go-to for good Mexican-inspired comfort food and cocktails. I'd absolutely come back again

I'd never have guessed 'spicy' (at a Mexican restaurant) is a $2 up-charge!! Only found out when I got the bill. And yes, I did mention it but nada. A heads up that asking for your Bloody Mary'spicy' will cost you $2 extra would've been nice. I also didn't appreciate the $14 guac that came w less than enough chips to finish the dip, but ordering "extra" chips are an extra cost. (free for the table with salsa at other Mexican restaurants). Anyways, I caveat this by saying photos online tell a different story, but it wasn't how ours came. My wife ordered 2 tacos for $14, no sides or anything else included, meh. If you end up going, their drinks are probably the best part of the place, but don't deviate without confirming you're not adding a hidden cost. Also, ration your chip/dip ratio, unless you're ok with spending more than $14 on a one avocado guacamole. Other than that the food was ok, our waitress was good (except for not telling me about a charge), but the nickel/dime policies aren't the best. It just left a bad taste.

The hostess was very sweet and I got to take advantage of the nice weather and sit outside. It's taco Tuesday, so the hostess and the server both reminded me it was "buy one get one free" - a great deal! I decided to go big and try four tacos, and all of them were very good! I'm from Southern California, so usually am picky about tacos, and some of these really exceeded my expectation. Al pastor: very tender and flavorful. A teeny bit dry, but perfect with the red salsa they brought for the table. Beef birria: nice and crispy tortilla, the consommé was very fragrant and not too salty, and they were generous with the beef. As normal with birria, it's a bit heavier/oilier, so one was enough, but it's very good! Baja fish: probably one of the favs! I made the mistake of leaving it to last, so the outside of the fish was a little less crispy, but if you eat it sooner, that shouldn't be an issue. The piece of fish was very large and cooked perfectly (very flaky). The flavor was great, especially with that red salsa. Avocado tostada: generous toppings, great flavor balance, fun crunch with very soft toppings. If you've ever eaten a tostada, you know you have to approach it like I imagine people approach skittish horses: with total confidence, even if you know it'll end up as a mess on the place. Otherwise, service was very quick and friendly and they didn't come and bother me during the meal, which I love. It really filled up while I was eating, such a testament to how good this place is. I definitely can't wait to come back!

While normally opting for tender Beef Tongue (Lengua) I can get it, this was the first time I saw lamb, specifically Lamb Barbeque (Barbacoa de Borrego) on any Mexican menu, so decided to try it out in a corn tortilla Quesadilla. It arrived freshly prepared not as a flat quesadilla I'm accustomed to, but more like two giant tacos. (See pic.) This sizable portion came with a red and green salsas, so I tried one on each. Both were good additions, but the red one cleared my sinuses! Definitely recommend El Jalapeño! Look forward to a future visit to Bethesda to trying something with their tongue the next
