Food was solid overall with a few minor hiccups. The Dan Dan noodles seemed a bit overdone, but the meat and sauce had great flavor. Also, they're not kidding about the spice level--if you're sensitive, consider ordering a notch (or several notches) down. Standouts for me were the egg yolk shrimp and Chongqing crispy chili chicken. The wait took a bit, but everything came out all at once. I'd definitely come back to try more, especially the Peking duck (just remember to order it a day in advance).

Decent Chinese restaurant in Evanston, it's still not as good as what you can find in Chinatown though. If you want to have duck, I'd recommend that you place a pre-order beforehand to make sure there's enough stock on the day you need for how many people you're with. Duck skin was crispy and fatty and paired great with the wrapper and cucumbers. Service is a bit slow, they tend to be understaffed for how many customers come in.

My family ordered from Tian Bistro for a weekend dinner. We had shredded pork in Yu Shiang chili sauce, stir-fried pork intestine with pickled cabbage, beef and tripe in chili oil, and Mongolian beef (not pictured). All dishes were full of flavor and delicious. Ordering over the phone was swift. The lady accommodated my mother's requests in Chinese, which was always a plus. Our order was ready when we picked it up. I highly recommend Tian Bistro if you're in the area.

We ordered the whole duck with no prior reservation on a busy weekend. It was very good. I have tried Pekin duck throughout China and Chicago. I thought this was pretty decent experience. The duck fried rice was good too. The duck was enough to feed family of four with leftovers. The value proposition was decent. However the soup dumpling can use some work. You probably can buy the Costco soup dumpling for $10 and essentially taste the same. Service was good. Most clients are Chinese. Nice addition to Evanston Chinese food scene. Parking for this establishment is very easy to find. Lots of spaces around the place. It's also very family friendly. Too 3 Pekin duck in chicago.

Amazing food at Ti'an bistro as usual but please be aware that they don't look at notes when ordering online. We ordered something with a modification that was clearly stated (no beef or pork) but not adhered to. Pictures below. They were also rude when calling about the issue saying that "the chef didn't see it" but not offering to compensate or make a new dish.

Wife and me came for Beijing duck. We ordered a half and hot sour soup and cucumber appetizer. The H&S soup came out quickly. It was lukewarm warm and passable. Missing some of the traditional items like lily buds and black mushrooms. The cucumber salad was decent. I missed the chili oil. Duck broth arrived then The duck arrived carved up. Lots of scallion cucumber hoisin sauce garlic paste. The duck was also lukewarm. Crispy skin and nice tender meat.

The food is delicious! The duck is a must have. The service is also superb. We enjoyed the experience there.

Came on a weekend it was packed and pre-ordered Peking duck ahead of time. It was juicy and the skin was crispy. The skin dipped in the sugar they provided was delicious. The chairs were spaciously placed, I have noticed they were celebrating people's birthdays, they played a song for the birthday person which I think it adds to a special touch. Very good service special shout out to our waiter, Remy, very courteous and knowledgeable. As far as parking there is meter street parking is free on Sundays however it is a commodity. Would definitely come back and try other things from the Menu.

We have been looking for a great Chinese restaurant in Evanston and now we have its. The hunan beef was to die for . I said out loud, "you can taste legit orange" in the orange chicken. Spice was just right!! Also, my mom, whose go-to is always Kung Pao Shrimp for a new restaurant is happy to say this one wasn't overloaded with a green pepper tsunami!

    Pecking duck

One of the best pecking duck in Chicago! The skin was very crispy. The duck soup was flavorful! Totally recommend checking it out! The full duck was almost too much food for 3 people, maybe best for 4.

At the end of our meal he turned to me and said "it either used to be way better here or maybe the restaurants in the burbs have just gotten a lot better over time." Our meal last night at Pescadero was just A-OK. Our waiter got the job done, but wasn't overly helpful. Ex: he asked after we put in our entree if we wanted anything else and we decided to throw in some oysters. He then told us he didn't know if he could get them out before our entrees since he already put in the order. Well he asked, didn't he? When we asked if the east or west coast oysters were meatier his response was "they are all the same here." They get a star for having Riesling and it was a pretty tasty one. We had very unexciting shrimp cocktail and oysters for our apps. I would skip both next time, which is sad for a seafood & oyster bar. For my entree I got the scallops special. According to my last review from here i loved the scallops. These scallops (served with risotto) were enjoyable, but would probably order something else next time. And my husband said his salmon was just fine. I love a good seafood & oyster bar so bummed this didn't live up to our past meals here, but it's a nice atmosphere so was still a nice Sat evening out in downtown Wilmette.

The service was on point... water was consistently filled and check on within timely manner. Good experience... I will me back. Check this place out ... you might like it!!

So, we moved to the bar. Eventually another group came, sat at the bar for Happy Hour and then were offered a table. They asked if they could do Happy Hour at the table and were told yes. Confusing Anyway, our bartender was lovely and the food was very good. Highlights were the lamb meatballs, the onion and goat cheese tart, and the taquitos. The crab cake wasn't great and definitely not worth the price. The space is cozy and you don't hear the train at all. Drinks were fine - mine seemed very light on the gin.

So started off with th Prosecco and the pink City (?) a great refreshing cocktail. We started with the crab cake and the pork belly. Both were fabulous. The latter had some greens and what seemed like a truffle sauce that i used the bread to get every bit of. We had the Chilean sea bass and the duck breast for entrees. They were superb. The sea bass was huge, and the breast served on a bed of charred veggies and shallots. Unbelievable. We finished with the lemon mousse Napoleon. Just wonderful. The service was perfect. water filled, more wine .very attentive. We'll definitely be back. One of the best dining in Evanston.

I was trying to find a place at least midway between us and discovered Carlos and Carlos on Yelp. Carlos and Carlos is old school from the perspective you actually have to call the restaurant to make a reservation. The space itself is located in what I think is a condo building. The space itself is compact, with tables relatively close together. We ended up sitting at table next to the kitchen door, which for me turned out not to be too bad as we were not sitting on top of other folks. The restaurant and bar were packed as it was a Saturday. Based on the size of the space and number of tables, I would strongly suggest making a reservation if you go there. We started out with fresh bread and one of their specials for the night: flash fried calamari served w/fresh tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, shaved garlic, black olives, capers & garlic butter. This was a first for me as I have never had calamari served this way and it was great. Definitely a dish I would drive back to get. The bread was wonderful and hot. I could see through the kitchen as fresh bread was being pulled out of either a warmer or oven, not sure. It was served with some sort of olive oil and pesto, I think. It made for a lovely spread on the bread. For dinner I ordered a dish called "Meatballs" and it was just that, a whole lotta meatballs with some spaghetti thrown in as a side...HAHAHA! Not complaining, just staying a fact. The meatballs and pasta were good, but I would say there was a fair amount of garlic in the dish. I had my dish as a leftover and as I was warming it up, The Doctor commented that he could smell the garlic. The Doctor had the Pollo Vesuvio, which also came with pasta. I had a small piece and it was pretty nice. Again there was more meat than pasta, but again we were not complaining. The chicken was nice and tender and had a lovely flavor to it. My GF got the Risotto Al Fungi (Arborio served with wild mushrooms & goat cheese). Prior to sampling her dish, I would have absolutely stated that this was a dish I would not order in a restaurant as I wouldn't have any interest in it. I tried a spoonful of my GF's and was amazed at how good it was! The broth that the risotto was cooked in was chicken and I think beef. That with the goat cheese made this a very nice dish and the second reason I would drive here to do a repeat visit for dinner. Portion sizes were nice as The Doctor and I had plenty to eat and enough for light snack the next day. My GF had no leftovers, she became a member of the clean plate club. For dessert we shared a slice of the chocolate mousse cake, which was really nice. It had a lovely dark flavor to it and was creamy in texture. Service was nice and everyone was friendly. There is plenty of street parking within walking distance as well. While this is a bit of a drive for us to get to since it is outside of the city, I could see coming back here. I think I want to try a serving of that risotto on my own instead of a taste.
