We were a bit skeptical that the session was going to be 4 hours from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. We just didn't understand how we could be there for so long. I will tell you how, you learn the basics of massage and then you have a lot of time to practice on each other. We started with a short twenty minute lecture and then moved on to the basics of massage on a chair - starting with the head and shoulders and then moving to the massage beds. We probably spent 45 minutes in each position which made the time fly by. What I would suggest if you are taking the class is to eat before you go (we were rushing in the morning and didn't have time) and also drink lots of water before, during, and after!! It was a great way to spend a Saturday and to reconnect with my husband!

I made a New Year's resolution to make self-care a priority by having a massage from time to time…read more However, I've always thought of them as a special occasion item and sort of out of my budget. I remember a friend told me about this place, years ago - that you can get an affordable massage done by students in training. I went to the website, scheduled the appointment and I am so glad I gave them a try!! Since they are students, you may get a different person each time - and that is fine with me. I've been two times and each visit was great. They were professional, they asked me questions and asked if I needed attention to specific areas and they ask if you need more or less pressure. I have a sedentary job and carry tension in my neck and back so I asked for attention to those areas. My first massage was done in Feb 2022 and the cost was $35 cash. The pricing has since increased and its now $40 cash. You must bring cash. I also brought enough for a tip as well. I recommend this facility for a massage because they are very personable, they ask how you are doing and provide excellent instructions and take care of you.

Everyone here is so friendly, welcoming, and the massage I received was amazing!! I'll start with the facility. Although a little difficult to find from the street, once you enter the space you immediately feel the serenity. The waiting area is bright, comfortable, clean and relaxing. The massage areas and spaces are tranquil and comfortable as well. The format is simple: Arrive for your appointment. Check-in at the front desk. Just tell your therapist what you came for, and they will take care of the rest! And, let's not mention...the price for a hour session is only $35!!....more than reasonable!!! The massage sessions are provided by the students as part of their work toward completing their clinical hours for massage school. From the moment I stepped through their doors....to the moment of meeting my therapist for the day....and finally, leaving...."EVERYTHING" was top-notch and professional. My therapist name was Stacy and she was outstanding! She was very focused and attentive. She had great technique and knew exactly when to variate the pressure to rid some of the most pesky knots that often trouble me after heavy workout days or my crossfit classes. I walked in like the "Tin-Man"--stiff as a board, with a tense headache and a couple bad sore-spots....but, walked out feeling completely renewed and so relaxed. I would say the quality of the massage was just as good as any professional one I've gotten. In all, I must admit I was skeptical, but made a believer! I will definitely be a regular and have already scheduled my next visit. Highly recommend!

PMTI's handling of its Graduate Clinic and recent graduate support is both unethical and…read moremisleading. In a mass email to clients, PMTI claimed the recent termination of all unlicensed Graduate Clinic practitioners was due to "new guidance" from the Maryland Board of Massage Therapy Examiners. This is misleading. Here's what actually happened: PMTI allowed unlicensed graduates to provide paid massage without legal authority. PMTI now admits this was "never acceptable." Yet for years, graduates provided massage services to paying clients under the false belief that this model was supervised and lawful. In my time at the Graduate Clinic, I was never supervised or mentored, despite the school's claims. The "new interpretation" excuse is false. The Maryland Board didn't create new law--they reminded PMTI of the existing one. This only came to light because graduates began asking whether their clinic hours could be used toward updated licensing requirements. PMTI responded by abruptly cutting everyone off. There was no transition support. Graduates were removed from the schedule with zero notice, no documentation of hours, no referrals, and no plan. For some of us, this was our only income source while finishing licensure. PMTI continues to promote unethical employers. The school shares job listings from businesses that misclassify therapists, require unpaid "auditions," and withhold compensation for training time--without warning students of their rights or labor protections. PMTI's public response is a PR move--not a solution. This isn't just a breakdown in communication. It's an abuse of trust, a failure of duty, and a betrayal of the very students the school claims to support. -- Student Oversight Collective

The manager, Larry Grine, runs an efficient operation and is an excellent therapist himself. I have worked with Larry, as well as with Kevin, Greg, and Stephen, all of whom are also top class. They spend time with, and have genuine care for, each patient. This practice also offers a strength coach Jason Arnett, who has a storehouse of exercises and a personality that makes the process enjoyable. The front office staff is efficient and helpful. I recommend VTFC highly.

About the location itself, I immediately was aware of how friendly and attentive all the people there seemed to be. The facility itself is attractive, full of light, and has a very positive vibe to it. About the therapy, my therapist knew more about the anatomy and movement of the knee and surrounding areas than I could imagine. He performed a series of massages, movements, exercises, and other treatments explaining at each step what it was meant to accomplish. He was very clear about how to approach the rehab process and answered every question I had. He also laid out a carefully thought out home exercise program that I followed fully. My recovery has progressed very well and exceeded expectations. It has been an excellent experience and I highly recommend VTFC and Larry Grine as a PT.
