My wife and I are new to the Charleston area and just purchased our first boat since 2018. We had lake and river experience prior but this is our first ocean going vessel, experience with tides and our first outboard boat. Contacted Tideline Tours and booked a private session with Captain Weatherly. What a treat as she is friendly and outgoing, but most importantly skilled. We spent a short while getting to know my boat then started drills and instruction. Time flew as we were having fun, challenging my abilities, and seeing if we couldn't get into situations Weatherly couldn't handle (never did)! We had an amazing private sunset cruise with tacos and Captain Olivia. We appreciated the opportunity to learn about the Folly ecosystem during the "ride". Then we spent a good bit of time on Morris island, even playing games that Olivia had brought before enjoying our tacos. The timing of it all with the sunset at the end was incredible - highly recommend! read more

We had an awesome Salt Marsh Adventure boat ride with Captain Ryan. We saw tons of dolphins and water birds, and found some great shells on Morris Island. Captain Ryan had a lot of interesting facts to share about local wildlife and was a great guide. It was one of the highlights of our trip! read more

Making this review for my cousin & her family : They require masks on each tour which is fine but what I didn't expect was to be outed and humiliated in front of strangers on my decision to not vaccinate myself or my family for the corona virus. Instead of just telling us we had to wear the masks or just not do the tour they asked the other tourists on the boat if they felt safe aboard the boat with my non vaccinated family. I felt disrespected, humiliated and discriminated against. I was in such shock we just put our masks on and were gonna go anyway but thankfully we didn't go far due to the rain. I dont recommend this tour and I personally will never go again. read more

1. We arrived at a condo building right off the main entrance to Folly beach and when we called, the location wasnt correct (should be updated on the site) and were told to head 10 min down the road to make it to the spot 2. We get to the pier and theres no signs or anything that says "Tidal Tours." We just went onto the pier and asked a few people, who then pointed at a boat that was already loaded up (5:10, we scheduled for 5:30....) and was starting to head out. We got on just in time, but it already got off on the wrong foot. 3. Boat ride was great, learned about clams and pirates, but after that we pretty much just went around and were taken to a little spot to look for shells. The captain (a young girl, cant remember her name) gave some info on the lighthouse and the surrounding area, but pretty much kept commenting about things she saw once that were cool and maybe we can see them again.....so we floated around til we saw some dolphins. 4. The island was great and the boat ride was nice, but then with about forty five minutes left she asked us "so what do you guys wanna see?".......We all looked around a bit confused (no one is from South Carolina on this tour) and said "its your area, you show us whatever you want," to which she replied "I dunno, what else can I show you....." That part ruined the trip for me. I can understand finishing early, but have a backup plan on where you can take a group if you finish early and have time to kill. To ask afterwards what else would we like to see, when its YOUR area and YOUR tour, that ended it for me. To sum it all up, we pretty much paid 45$ a person to ride a boat, walk on the beach, and collect shells.....didnt learn much about the ecosystem really or any of the other great things other reviewers mentioned. read more

This tour boat gets 1 star for not having blaring rock and roll music playing. It also gets 1 star for not having a jet propelled boat. 1 star for not having a 20 something "too cool for school" crew. 1 star for not racing around the harbor babbling random facts from a recording. And lastly, 1 star for not having a set formula for the tour that doesn't allow any flexibility in time or course. Put it all together and you get a 5 star experience of the off beaten tracks in the salt marshes, with a knowledgeble guide, in a setting as close to the environment as your going to get in a tour boat. read more

Excellent tour! You may not think you need to go on a tour of the salt marsh in Folly Beach - but you do! The tour is very casual but informative. There is just enough talking from the tour guide to keep you interested but not overwhelmed with information. I learned a lot about the ecosystem of the salt marsh and I didn't even realize I would enjoy knowing that. Also, we had time to relax and enjoy the scenery. We spent about 30 minutes on Morris Island to look at the Folly Beach lighthouse and search for sea shells. We saw dolphins and three sharks! Also, we saw some amazing birds. This is a great tour for your family or friends. Captain Phil was excellent! read more

Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to feel worlds away just 20 minutes from downtown Charleston. Captain Phil made learning about the marsh geography, ecology, history, and development a morning of fun. We got an up close view of dolphins, a variety of waterfowl, and oyster beds along the trip to Morris Island where we spent 45 minutes beachcombing. Absolutely worth the time and cost! read more

Anton is the captain of captains. Super nice guy, incredibly knowledgable and full of info on marine biology, geology and history. He took us to go shelling and oystering and we spent the afternoon shucking the freshest bivalves we've ever had. Can't recommend highly enough. Easy ride from Charleston and a phenomenal way to explore the rich salt marshes along the SC coast. read more
