I hired this company to install a gas fireplace and lol mat a few minor plumbing issues. 3 hours later the fireplace was installed but would not work for more than 5 minutes at a time. They intact was due to low gas line pressure which had to be resolved by the propane company. The propane company Ame out and said the pressure was fine. It still doesn't work. They should not have taken this job if they don't know how to properly install and troubleshoot gas fireplaces, for over $330! read more

Being happy with their prior work, I called on Tidewater Plumbing & Heating & Air Conditioning again for a couple more jobs. The latest is to fix my furnace. Bill has detected the problem very quickly and mitigated the problem until he can order the parts. While waiting for the parts, Bil has called me to inquire about the heater functioning and updated on the order timeline. Then, as soon as the parts arrived, he stopped by and made sure the motor was the right one. Upon this check, he and Moris installed it very quickly and explained intricacies of heater motors. They found a leak as well, and fixed all issues as they went along, but always kept open communication with what they found and how they fixed it. They worked 6.5hrs, but complete the job! Had a leak from the upstairs bathroom that showed on the living room ceiling. I called other plumbers before this one and they couldn't accommodate me and I'm so glad that happened. I got ahold of Tidewater. He worked around my schedule and was able to easily find the problem and fix it. No guess work, no "maybe it's this" showed up, knew what was wrong and fixed it. Military Friendly! My daughter is young, in the Navy, lives alone, and a brand new home owner. She had some blockage that prevented her from flushing toilets, using washer, etc. The rest of her family is in Florida. Scheduling and making phone calls is difficult for her on work and duty days. I initially called another business who ranked high in google reviews. Explaining what was going on and the fact my daughter was on duty, I was trying to have someone schedule a specific appt for the next day. The person on the phone asked who the home owner was and would not assist me because my daughter was. I explained the situation again and she stated they have to get permission from the homeowner and discuss fees. I inquired about provisions for military and she offered no help so they were not for us. I then called Tidewater. After explaining everything, Mr Martin asked if we had called the city. We know nothing about dealing with the city as we've always been on well water. He let me know that if the blockage is on the city side, they will fix it for free. If it wasn't on their side, he could help us. He even looked up the number for me to call. After it took the city two days to come out, we called Mr Martin back and set up a Friday appt. He showed up on time with his son and another worker and resolved the issue quickly. My daughter was completely happy and comfortable with them. He took the time to tell her what to get to wrap her exterior pipes and cover her crawl space. Because they also handle A/C and heat issues, she spoke to him about some heating, water pressure and water heater issues. They never made her feel like they were in a rush to get out of there. The cost for their time was very reasonable and less than we'd imagined. My daughter will be having them come out as soon as she can to assess some of those other issues she has. So happy to have found a trustworthy business for her to deal with since we aren't there to help her. read more

After a $29 "check up" from another company that I'll call Real Shady A$$holes, I was faced with $8200 full system replacement on a system that was working fine before the check up. About 3 weeks ago my heat pump went out, and I called A-1 American they never showed and needless to say it was freezing/snowing at the time. I guess they were too busy making commercials and useless magnets for the yellow pages After 48 hours of hearing nothing from A-1 I did an internet search and found Tidewater Plumbing & Heating, the owner Mr. Martin had his son in law Morris over in less than an hour. My heat pump was sparking and the compressor was totally shot. Morris was able to stop the heat pump from sparking and causing a potential fire. I had a gas line, but it was never connected to the home. Mr. Martin advised me on the price, and how long the job would take. When it came time for them to do the job, it was exactly as described. He came with his son-in-law, and son. They were quick and efficient, they did not leave a mess on my property. This is a family business with honest people, Mr. Martin did not add any hidden fees or surprises as many companies do. The unit was of quality and started right up. The fault switch on my HVAC unit had cut off and needed to be repaired/replaced. The original company quoted an astronomical amount for what appeared to be relatively simple job, so I set about the task of identifying someone who is trustworthy. Thank you YELP! I called Bill b/c of the excellent reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Not only did he come on the same day I called, but the charge was one-third (I kid you not!) what I was quoted from the other company. When I described the problem, he knew what I was talking about immediately, so I knew I found the right man for the job. He agreed to pick up the replacement part, although it wasn't a certainty that it would be needed. He and his associate, Morris, thoroughly tested the part and confirmed the fault switch was, in fact, cutting off. As a result, he replaced the part and, again, tested it thoroughly to ensure it was fully functioning. He also explained what to do in the event the system got clogged.
