Scheduled an appointment after receiving recommendations from a FB group in the Ocean View area of Norfolk. As promised I received a text the day before to remind me. Josh was here at the appointment time. He inspected my wood burning fireplace, swept it, and repaired a small area in the fire box. The inspection and sweeping were billed at the cost I was quoted. There was a minimal fee for the firebox repair, and it was discussed before the work was done. Josh was very efficient and tried to be as clean as possible (we are talking about ash). I had a basket of blankets near the fireplace that he recommended I wash, even though he had moved them further away. Thought it very considerate of him to move and still recommend washing. I also learned that Josh is a Norfolk fireman and that Damen the owner is as well. This information gave me a little more peace of mind about the inspection. Damon came out to our home today to do a cleaning and inspection and called to let me know he was on his way. He came right on time in the early part of the window they quoted me. He very extremely professional, removed his shoes when entering our home, and didn't charge me for services that I had booked but didn't need. We requested a cleaning as we just moved in but he said we were in good shape and didn't need one. If you value you your personal time, don't use them. They are one of those companies that give you a 4 hour window, and then don't bother showing up on time. I asked for the first appointment of the day (I know it can't be guaranteed but it always baffled me why not) because of a move-out requirement and the final home inspection that was scheduled for 10 am. That came and went, we waited and waited...I called at 11 and the receptionist said the tech was "on his way". At 12:15 I called back and requested to speak directly with the technician so I could figure out wth was going on. Turns out his first appointment took him "an hour and a half longer" than it should have. Why make ALL of the other customers wait? Why not go back to the other job later if it was unexpectedly more difficult? And why not CALL when you know you're going to be late instead of making the customer track you down? I have a chimney to clean at my new place, but I'm going with the company that's "always on time or I don't pay a dime"! read more
