HOLY CRAP! This place was phenomenal. We went specifically for the Anaconda Burrito which is over a foot long! The employees are friendly and accommodating. This is not a sit down, all seating is outside and limited, but the food is totally worth the small inconvenience. The salsa and guacamole were very very good. Their regular salsa was smooth and seasoned well. Their medium salsa was great as well and had a little kick. The guac was just perfectly chunky and didn't have huge chunks of raw onion or tomato which we loved. The Anaconda Burrito had all the fix-ins and we added sour cream. We shared between 4 people, but it could easily be shared by 6. Some of us also don't usually like beans, lettuce, or onions, but we had no problem eating the burrito as is, it mixed together well. We also had the Tres Leches which was fresh and moist. Very light and well done. Overall, we will definitely recommend Acevedo's to friends and go back next time we are in Maui! read more

I absolutely love this place! Everything I've tried has been incredible, and honestly, it's my favorite taco spot on Maui. The ingredients are always fresh, the flavors are amazing, and every meal leaves me wanting to come back for more. Heard that the burritos at Acevedos Hawaicano are to die for, so I went to see for myself. It's easy to find, at 190 Alamaha, but parking can be tricky. Not much street parking but there's a small parking lot. Unfortunately, the spaces are small and pickups wind up on or over the lines. You might have trouble getting your door open without making contact with the car next to you. Inside, you'll see 2 menus. The one hanging from the ceiling is apparently for decoration only. The actual menu is sitting on a table below the hanging menu. I got the Cali Burrito with carne asada, sour cream and guacamole. They weren't busy, but it took quite a while for the burrito to arrive. Glad that there were several tabled outside where I could relax and enjoy the music. First of all, I suggest that you pass on the sour cream and guac since it isn't worth the upcharge. The salsa that's readily available is quite sufficient. I expected the carne asada to have a good mix of charred edges from grilling and a tender interior. But, this was very chewy. Is it good news or bad news that there wasn't much meat? I'm okay with having some fried potato in my burrito if it's well seasoned, but this burrito had a handful of french fries thrown in. Disappointing. IMHO, not worth the price. read more

Easy to find, parking lot is small but people seem to leave so if you wait a minute can get a spot. Lots of tables outside (none inside) good music fit the food you were ordering. I was greeted as I entered. Large menu hanging from the ceiling found out later that is not their menu it is onto of a table. I ordered the Cali carne asada burrito, she asked what meat I wanted when I asked her for a good choice she said steak (it ended up being tougher than I liked) asked if I wanted sour cream and guacamole-extra charge for both & both were added very sparingly so will skip those next time. I sat outside and she brought it to me asked about sauces said she'd get 2 for me. Took it home. It was big and easily made 2 meals but I was disappointed in the steak. We went here about three times in a couple weeks because the food was pretty fantastic and portions were big. It was nice discovering decent Mexican on Maui. My go-to is Al pastor tacos, but they weren't amazing enough to keep getting them. If I recall, they did not add pineapple or radish to the tacos... Come on now. Then, we had a dish with the steak that was jammed packed with fatty gristle and have not been back since. No real room to dine in here, so I do ding them a tiny bit for that. This may not be fair, but it's hard to justify paying good money to sit in the sun with flies all around. This basically falls under my beef for all Maui food trucks - the allure of food trucks is it should be reasonably priced as a trade off for no dining experience. I would probably give this a 3.5, but since I can't do halves, I will round up. I will probably go here tomorrow after thinking about writing this! read more

Did a quick stop doing errands on the area. It was late afternoon, so it was nice and cool sitting outdoors by the water (river?). Quick service, very tasty. Staff was not very friendly. Had the carne Asada plate to share. It was just perfect for 2 of us. Not sure though if there was MSG in the meal. We both felt bloated and super thirsty after the meal. Stoped by on my way home from work because I did not feel like cooking dinner and I wanted good Mexican food and a good value. I have been eating here since they opened and the food has always been top notch. I had the carnitas plate which comes with beans and rice. I have lived in California and Las Vegas and have eaten a lot of Mexican food in my life. These guys make some of the best I have tasted. The carnitas were nice and tender and then they had the perfect amount not jalapeños and onions to go with it then you add the beans and rice and there salsa which again is some of the best I have had. These guys service is always great fast food, friendly and on the ball. Plus I love the fact that this is a family owned place not just another spot that is owned by some rich person that is not even here. It a family owned and family run business. I love how they have added tables and cement. I remember when it was gravel and wooden tables. It has made it look a lot nicer. Well I was going to take. A picture of my food but I was so hungry and it smelled so good I remembered halfway thru and I know we are close to Halloween but no one needs to see that. Went here for our last meal on Maui, it was fantastic. Staff was very friendly, and outdoor seating area was clean. My group had a veggie quesadilla, pork chili verde tacos, and a carne asada burrito. Also got chips and salsa with guac, the tortilla chips are delicious! Quesadilla was hot and fresh and a pretty good size, pork tacos were loaded full and pork was great quality and flavor. I test Mexican food by the quality of the carnitas and I've had them in Mexico and every southern state. Definitely in my top three places of all time. Seriously the best meal I had the whole entire time on the Island. I was in Hawaii for 5 days and right when we were heading back to the airport to go home we stumbled upon this place. What a shame because if I would have known about this place earlier I would literally come every single day. We ordered the chips and guacamole, chicken taco and shrimp plate. Right when I saw the guacamole I just knew that it would be so incredible and let me tell you it was. So fresh. So full of color the avocado, perfect amount of salt and just so damn good. When I got the tacos I was a little hesitant because the chicken didn't look good but holy moly these tacos were so effing good I wish I would have ordered more. The sauce and salsa was soooo freaking amazing. I also had the rice and beans and they were really good. Everything here was so so so gooooood!! My only complaint the FLIES! Ahhhh seating is outdoors and flies ere flying everywhere it was so freaking annoying having to swat them away and not being able to enjoy your meal. Wish they had something to prevent the flies.
