Stumbled upon this food truck and got the birria tacos. They were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious!

    Chicken taco $7 each!

The food was good but be careful about the pricing. The photos on Yelp show that the tacos are a few bucks each but if u look at their website it's actually $7 for one chicken taco! It still tasted great but I was surprised about the price not matching what I seen here on Yelp

Street food: we all want authentic, right? But it's also gotta be delicious, affordable, and fresh, without a long wait. If you're looking for tacos in south Maui, Horhito's food truck checks all these boxes, and more: it's right across from Kalama Park, so you can get your tacos, cross the street (at the crosswalk only, please!), and enjoy a relaxing meal in the park or on the beach. They're well known locally for their tacos and burritos, but also offer burgers, wraps, sandwiches, and more. My favorite is the Baja mahi taco, which has chipotle aioli and mango salsa. The generous portion of fish is nicely grilled and the salsa is both abundant and flavorful. Add some hot sauce, an ice cold horchata or mangonada to drink, and you're good to go! They can be busy at peak times, but they work quickly and the wait shouldn't be long. You can call your order in ahead if you want to avoid any wait. Craving some Mexican food after spending the day at the beach. This mobile taqueria is located in Kihei. It is actually pretty stationary and there are tables provided to comfortably enjoy your food or relax while you wait. After living in Southern California and frequenting Mexico often I've become pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food. So personally I rated it a 4/5 but everyone else in my party who are Maui locals one of which doesn't even typically like Mexican food rated it a 5/5. With that being said the owners are really nice. I like that they have kids meals available. The kids plates come with a heaping portion of fries. I ordered a kids cheese quesadilla and kids cheese and bean burrito. The cheese quesadilla was a perfect portion my child had leftovers. I thought the cheese and bean burrito had too many beans my second child took some out while she was eating them. I ordered 2 lengua tacos and one pork belly taco with a side of pickled jalapeño. I really enjoyed the lengua but I wasn't a fan of the pork belly. The picked jalapeño were good there weren't many seeds so it wasn't overly spicy. They paired well with the tacos and weren't too spicy for my children so they were able to enjoy them too. For $1 they do give you a lot. Others in my party ordered the taco bowl, carnitas tacos and mangonada - they all rated their dishes as a 5/5.

Good tacos, but their beans are always under cooked. Friendly service. Not always open when they say they are supposed to be open.

He explained that he made the specials of the day while the regular menu was made inside the food truck. We were too full however tempted, and decided to go watch the sunset. But afterwards we wandered back to share a dish, and settled upon the beef special since we hadn't had any all trip. We had the smoked maminha tri-tip steak, Okinawa purple sweet potato, grilled maui onion and broccolini. Beautifully plated on real plates and silverware. No comparison to the so many common $21 food truck entrees and cost just a little more. The owner also is very sociable and enjoys talking about this food in a variety of languages with passers by and customers. On the far end from main entrance to the Kihei Food Oasis, or right at the other entrance, depending on how you enter. I wish we had found it earlier or we would have eaten there more than once!

We went all in on the pork belly (no regrets ) and ordered the pork belly fried rice and the garlic noodles with pork belly. Both dishes were packed with flavor and super satisfying. The pork belly on the garlic noodles had that perfect crispy edge with a tender, melt-in-your-mouth center--easily the highlight. We went on a Sunday night, and the place had a fun, lively vibe. There are tables available, but it does get busy, so come with a little patience. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

The menu photo shows thick pieces of ono, and that's how they've always been served in the past. This time, the fish was paper thin and barely filled the bun. It definitely wasn't worth the price. I politely asked why the ono was so thin, and I was told, "They're sliders, that's why they're thin." I explained that I've ordered these many times before and they've never looked like this, but my concern was dismissed. I understand portions can vary, but this was a drastic difference from what I've received before. Loyal customers notice when quality and portions change. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be returning.

The truck itself is fun, painted with bright tropical colors and scenes, and they seem to be known for their loaded tots and bao buns. I placed my order on the touchscreen outside and then sat down to wait for my food. For lunch on this day I went with the buffalo chicken tots and the Island Piggy bao. The menu described the bao as kalua pork, BBQ sauce, tropical salsa, and pickled red onions. The buffalo chicken tots were described as buttermilk fried chicken, buffalo sauce, jack cheddar cheese, house made pickles, and ranch dressing. It took less than 10 minutes for my food to be ready and I sat down at one of the shaded picnic tables. When I opened everything up it all looked good, but I did notice that the tots were missing the house made pickles. I started with the bao and thought it was pretty good. The kalua pork was super juicy and the bao bun was light and fluffy while still holding together well. The pickled onions added a nice acidity and the tropical salsa brought good flavor. The only thing I did not notice much was the BBQ sauce. After that I dug into the tots. The tots themselves were cooked nicely with a crispy outside and soft inside. The chicken was good as well with a nice batter and the buffalo sauce added flavor while the cheese was gooey. The only thing worth noting is that the chicken was softer than expected and not very crispy. It worked since I did have the texture from the crispy tots, but it stood out. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I would probably not order both a bao and tots again as it was a lot of food, but I would definitely come back for one or the other.

We came here twice and I got the 3 bao slider combo each time. - The BAO*CHICKA*BAO*BAO was one of my favorite sandwiches. - My second favorite was the ISLAND PIGGY. I got this both times. - the LITTLE PIGGY was good, but a little overhyped in my opinion. But good to try. - the DUCK DUCK GOAT was wildly disappointing. As you can see in the picture, all meat and almost nothing else. Maybe a few silvers of cabbage. But where's the goat cheese and the fig jam?!? We also got the ALOHA TOTS. Huge portion so that was nice. But the kalua pork was pretty watery and made the crispy tots go soggy pretty fast. Overall a solid spot. Definitely worth trying at least once.
