Surprisingly not bad. I have pretty low expectations for Mexican food in Hawai'i (as a whole). It's usually waaaay overpriced for what you get and the flavor is typically lacking. I got 2 carne asada street tacos with a side of Mexican rice. The flavors were good, just wish the tacos came with some salsa and some pickled jalapeños and carrots... at least some salsa. The rice was good no complaints. I wanted to get a horchata but they didn't have any (so sad). Pricing was typical for HI, aka about $5 for 1 taco and $5 for a scoop of rice. Solid taco truck right in Kihei. There's not a lot of seating so if it's busy it can be tricky, but you can also just take it and go to the beach across the street! We usually get the shrimp tacos, and in the past they used to sell tripas which my husband swears were some of his favorite. This last trip they said they didn't have any. It is actually pretty stationary and there are tables provided to comfortably enjoy your food or relax while you wait. After living in Southern California and frequenting Mexico often I've become pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food. So personally I rated it a 4/5 but everyone else in my party who are Maui locals one of which doesn't even typically like Mexican food rated it a 5/5. With that being said the owners are really nice. I like that they have kids meals available. The kids plates come with a heaping portion of fries. I ordered a kids cheese quesadilla and kids cheese and bean burrito. The cheese quesadilla was a perfect portion my child had leftovers. I thought the cheese and bean burrito had too many beans my second child took some out while she was eating them. I ordered 2 lengua tacos and one pork belly taco with a side of pickled jalapeño. I really enjoyed the lengua but I wasn't a fan of the pork belly. The picked jalapeño were good there weren't many seeds so it wasn't overly spicy. They paired well with the tacos and weren't too spicy for my children so they were able to enjoy them too. Don't waste your time or your money... I waited 35-40 mins for 2 fish tacos and there wasn't a line and no one was in front of me. I took a bite of the fried fish taco and it had zero flavor and had so much oil in the breading in the batter that it overwhelmed my mouth and I spit it out. $18 for 2 tacos and they weren't edible. A great cheap quick spot for lunch after the beach! They have a nice shaded seating area in front of the truck with a decent amount of seating. They have a huge menu for a food truck. All sorts of tacos and other items like hot dogs. Their tacos were great. I tried the shrimp taco, spicy chorizo, and the vegetarian tacos. They were all packed full and delicious. I've heard some pretty good things about this food truck and was pretty stoked to find out that they would be at my first Kihei Fourth Friday rendezvous. I was hoping to find the chorizo & chicharron taco on special, like Yelper Haley K. mentioned in her review, but shucks, I was out of luck. We decided to get a variety of tacos since it was our first time -- the shrimp, beef, pork, & al pastor. The al pastor tasted ok and the pork taco, I really enjoyed. The pork was seasoned well, moist, & had the right amount of fat. My husband thought the beef was pretty standard and the shrimp was pretty good, but was expensive for the price ($5 for 1 taco). I saw them a 2nd time at the kite surfing event this past weekend and I'm so glad I decided to give them a second chance because I was wavering between a 3 to 3/1 star rating initially. This time, I knew what I liked -- the pork tacos. I got 2 and I feel like it tasted even better the second time around. I was also incredibly hungry at that point and was so happy to see food options at the event. HAHA. They are normally located in Kihei by the 76 gas station where a handful of other food trucks are parked, but based on my experience you can find them at different events around the island as well. I can't give them a 5 star because of the past experiences with the food, but majority of my visits now days because I can afford to support this food truck, the food has been delicious! Now everyone has their experiences and this is mine. So if other reviews are comforting, then that is what you will go off of. But if just know 98% of the time, this place has made quality food. Horhitos Food Truck is normally at Kalama Park, in Kihei, but we caught them at the Fourth Friday Town Party last night. They've been around for years and always seem to have a lot of customers because their mexican food is really good. We had a mahi mahi burrito that contained fish, rice & beans, cheese and pico de gallo. Had a little bit of salad & chips, too. Just stopped by to get a mangonada. We ate lunch earlier and hung out at the beach nearby for a few hours in the heat. We were about to call it a day, but walked by and saw that they made mangonadas for $6. Coming from California where I'm spoiled by in my opinion, some of the best mangonadas I've ever had in San Diego and in the Bay Area...I was more curious to see whether this Maui food truck could beat any of my expectations. The lady at the cashier was friendly, and actually turned out to be the one who was making our slushy drink. The drink itself took about 20 minutes, which was a hella long time to wait just for one drink. There was not a full area of diners in the middle of the day, nor was there a large order before or after us. We weren't very impressed with the 20-minute-drink after we got it either. The only perfect part about it was the flauttiriko tamarind straw that comes with your drink. The mangonada itself wasn't strongly mango, and had too much ratio of ice so the creamy tropical mango/nectar flavors couldn't come through. There was a bit too much tajin on top, and I would have appreciated more of the apricot chili (chamoy) sweet/spicy sauce. I'd say skip this food truck if you are curious about the mangonada. read more

We just wanted a quick bite before we were off on our next adventure. The kids working there were nice enough. We waited a bit for the food, hopefully that meant they were fresh. We were pretty indifferent about our tacos. I really wish I would have remembered what fish we ordered, but I can't. One set was definitely shrimp. Either way they were fine. LOVE this taco truck!!!!! It's a must at least once on my trip to Maui. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a drive from where I stay in Kaanapali, so it's not convenient to go multiple times. The fish tacos are the bomb! Ono and shrimp are the best. And the hot sauce in the squeeze bottle is excellent, although you do not need any hot sauce for these tacos; they are perfect just the way they come! Gal that takes your order is cool. Not super talkative, but she warms up to you when you walk up and order a second round of tacos. Pretty good prices for the size of the fish tacos and how tasty they are. The location is next to a little open air market and the gas station. It's a permanent food truck, so it's always at this same spot. There's a small amount of tables to sit and eat or you can walk across the street to the park/beach. One cool thing they added to the seating area are misters!!! I'm not gonna lie, this is probably the best place to have street tacos on the entire island of Maui, don't go writing home to Mom about it, but that's to be expected. I ordered the carne asada tacos and they weren't bad at all, but I was more concerned about what the meat actually was because it didn't look like steak meat. Whatever it was, it was decent! One downfall is there are no rice and beans on the menu, but not a game killer. Also, there isn't any kind of garnishments to put on your tacos like cabbage or lime or varieties of salsas etc. There is one kind of salsa that's in a bottle that's near the truck, but the lid looked like it hadn't been washed in a decade so I didn't try it. The food was cold. Never heard of lettuce in a burrito. I don't know how a super Burritos looks like a Taco Bell size burrito. Most super Burritos are large this is a poor excuse burrito. They charge you for the The extra stuff but do not put the extra stuff on the burrito. The meat taste like it was 2 days old. Took the burrito back and got a quesadilla. It felt like they took the meat from the burrito and put it in the quesadilla. For Maui Mexican food this aint it.
