    Steak & Eggs

Really wanted steak and eggs for breakfast, But was disappointed by the amount in size of the food for the cost we paid. On top of the amount, the taste was not it either. Don't eat breakfast here. We also got burritos for lunch because they had a special "all burritos $12.99" the day we went. The burritos were big and tasted good. Get the burritos.

We've been in Maui for about four days now and were craving Mexican food. Being on Maui, I know authentic Mexican food can be hard to find. I'm Mexican and born and raised in California, so I definitely know what authentic tastes like. After doing some research, we decided to try Amigos. We walked up and were nicely greeted and seated right away. Our waitress came over quickly, took our drink order, and brought chips and salsa to the table. Drinks arrived shortly after, and she took our order promptly. She did warn us the food might take a little longer, but to our surprise, everything came out fairly quickly. We ordered: Tilapia plate with rice and beans Carne asada plate with rice and beans Cheeseburger and fries The tilapia was really good super flavorful. Honestly, I normally wouldn't order tilapia back home, but being on the island, I figured it would be fresh, and it was. The rice was really good. The beans were about a 5/10 for me, but I understand we're on the island and things are different than back home. Tortillas were also about a 5/10 so-so, but again, expected for being off the mainland. The carne asada wasn't authentic ranchera meat; it was more like a steak-cut piece. Still, the flavor was good. Same rating on the beans 5/10 but the rice was solid. Service was great across the board. The food was good overall not the most authentic, but flavorful and satisfying. The ambiance felt like a classic Mexican restaurant: Spanish music playing (not too loud, which I love because you can actually talk at the table), TVs on with a game playing, and people at the bar having a great time cheering on their team. Very lively and friendly atmosphere. They also have outdoor patio seating, which is a plus. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. Good service, good flavors, and a fun ambiance. I'd definitely come back and would recommend trying this place when you're in Maui. Thank you, Amigos!

I oddly got the BEST homemade salsa of my ENTIRE LIFE in Hawaii (on Maui). There's a local Hawaii restaurant in Kihei called, Amigo's, which I assume is a transplanted Mexican family restaurant (yes, with an inappropriate apostrophe '). There was zero trace of watery-ness. The heat was perfect (medium to light). It was thick. The homemade chips were crisp, thick and salted perfectly. It wasn't pineapple salsa, which I do also like. I can't believe I went there and got Mexican food..., and that it was the best Mexican food I've ever had. I had enchiladas and my son had the chimichangas. Both excellent!

We stopped here today for a quick. Lunch! It was around 1:30 and we were close by and saw that they were open and not that busy! Yay so let's go here. We walked in and we were greeted by the hostess she was friendly, so she took us inside to a table. Got out menus and she asked if we wanted chips and salsa we said yes! I think the first batch that they serve us complentary. We looked over the menu and new what we wanted. We got an order of the Quesbirria and another order of chicken tacos! Ohh and we ordered a strawberry margarita and of course a bud light! The food came out pretty quickly along with our drinks! The food tasted pretty darn good. The quesabirria which came with consume for dipping. Also the chicken tacos was a very generous serving of everything. The waitress was friendly she seemed shy but she was attentive. At the end of our meal we were waiting for our check but she brought out the dessert menu. Everything looked good but we were to filled from lunch! Come here for some mexican food! You can dine inside or outside! This time the outside they're was no chickens to be found! IYKYK!!

We came here because Da Kitchen Maui had a long wait. We were hungry and Mexican sounded good. The service was good. Our server was sweet. Coming from California, the food was okay at best. The carnitas is decent though. I like that you can order your tacos crunchy or soft with any meat. We ordered: Grilled mahi mahi taco - Not bad. Al pastor crunchy taco - pretty good. Carnitas crunchy taco - off da hook (per our server). She's not lying. Carne Asada burrito plate - meh. It was ground beef not steak. Not sure if this was a mistake because there was also ground beef in the menu. Two crunchy taco plate with chicken and shredded beef - okay Two Enchiladas plate with cheese and ground beef - okay The restaurant was clean. Lots of seating, possible to fit a large party.

Just ordered Cali burrito. The sweet lady said 10 min to make. Ok im cool with it, 2 min later she hands me the burrito. I took a 2 minutes drive to the condo, took 2 bites ( first one was somewhat warm and then I had to double check on the second, nope, I threw it away. They maybe re-using old burritos so check your food before you do take out people. The sweet lady said I can get another one tomorrow.

Although it's not my favorite spot for Mexican food in general, they have really good breakfast specials which, if I remember correctly, are available until 11am at very reasonable prices, but many breakfast items are available all day. Love the biscuits and gravy! My main reason for coming back is the happy hour ceviche. I've paid twice the price at other places that weren't as generous with the avocado or shrimp. Chips and salsa are included as long as you are ordering something which is becoming a rare thing these days. There are a few TVs if sitting at the bar, you can watch live sports. Very casual diner, usually has music playing. Option to sit outside if you like. Happy hour is 3-6 and kama'aina all day!

Mahaca and eggs, beans rice and tortillas.

This is my first time trying this location out. My usual breakfast spot is at the beginning of Kihei. But I wanted to try someplace new. I was going to go to another place in the same mall but they were not open yet. We ended up eating here because we have never tried out this location. They have a decent breakfast selection as far as the menu goes and the prices are reasonable. I ordered the Mahaca with eggs , beans and rice. It also came with 3 tortillas. It was a nice change from the typical breakfast fare you get on the island. It was good and the portions were good size. For those wondering what Mahaca is. It is shredded beef almost like a roast then it's mixed in with eggs and onions and cooked up and the Spanish rice and beans were great. My girlfriend had The steak and eggs with potatoes and toast. The steak was done perfectly and had a very good taste, eggs were cooked well and the potatoes were very good. They had bell peppers and onions mixed in with the potatoes. Only thing was they only gave her one jelly for four pieces of toast. The service was ok. Food came out pretty quickly. I would definitely try them out again. The place was actually very nicely decorated for a strip mall location. So it is nice that someone puts some thought into it.

Outdoor seating. The green sauce is a bit on the hot side for me.

Head over to Roasted Chiles if you want healthier Mexican flare on Maui!…read more Parents and I were craving some legit Mexican food so I told them we should go to Roasted Chiles since it's been awhile & it hit the spot. We ordered a basket of Chips and Salsa with a Side of Queso and annihilated that throughout the meal. I got myself a Zero Proof Guavalajara (Guava Margarita) and Mom got the $5 Margarita Special. Our waitress Geo was so friendly and checked up on us quite frequently & recommended the Drink Special to my mom. She also mentioned since it's Tuesday, they had $5 Taco Specials! They were full house inside so we enjoyed our meal outside which was nice to enjoy more relaxing vibes. Dad got the Pescado (Fish) Taco Plate which was Opakapaka and he annihilated 2 out of the 3. There was a chipotle crema on top and he said the Fish was nice and crispy since it was battered with tempura. Mom and I got enchiladas, she got Mineras (Vegetable option) & I got the Picadillo (Ground Beef with potatoes) enchiladas. It's definitely a good portion with 3 enchiladas with lettuce, radish slices, crema on top and a side of Rice with corn and carrots throughout and Creamy Pinto Beans! To finish our meal, we scored the last slice of the Strawberry Vanilla Tres Leches Cake! Perfectly soaked with the three milks, a little dash of strawberry jam on top and light strawberry whipped cream topping and filling. Geo said the last piece was the largest! Thanks to Geo and the staff at Roasted Chiles for making our dinner a delicious experience!

I'll still support the place, but to really love supporting them even more, I have some friendly recommendations. I love the char on the meat, the salsas are great and were given to me cold (great sign! As unbelievable as it may seem, this simple step is missed in a lot of places!), the beans and rice with the sasoun like abuela used to make- chef's kiss! and even better than Ono tacos in Kahului in my opinion, and their beans and rice are pretty fly). The pollo and asada, one day has more flavor than the next. Some days, no salt at all. So if you bring a guest, just pack some limes and salt just in case, so they'll believe you when you say this place is awesome. Problem solved. Additionally, the comment about the fatty inedible bits of steak- yes, I have experienced it also, that is an anomaly that the chef should be able to catch. That's not ok and will turn a lot of people off from the food, please quality control or let the butcher know so you guys are getting value. Sometimes I know those fatty cartridge chunks can contribute to flavor because of the oils, but that can be done in a separate process and removed before plating with that primo asada. First visit I loved the carne asada tacos. Quality is very hard to find here on Maui, and once you find it, consistency even harder, but I really like this place so I'm coming back and bringing more folks. The marinade and seasoning was on point that first time. The second time, the beans and rice had wayyy more flavor than the chicken and the steak, just being real. I look forward to trying more. I bring guests here and they say the same things. I'm a huge fan of Mexican food, and I know food can be hard work, just iron out your processes so they're firme every time, make sure everyone working follows the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and people will remember it for sure, the potential for even more greatness is definitely there, no one else is making tacos like this! just needs attention to detail. Also.. not to end on a bad note, but I've gotta say it- you -always- should provide or offer silverware to customers, and napkins. That's only proper form. The service and kindness of the young man taking orders is impeccable, he is kind and personable to people and you can tell he was raised with respect , has dignity and kindness for others. Well done! This is rare also and people notice. What a good bruddah! Thank you so much for your hard work and efforts. I live with constant pain. I don't always wanna cook, shop, marinate, and all the steps it takes to make an epic meal, unless I'm cooking for a lot of people I love. I can tell you're spreading the love with your food, I hope my honesty isn't harsh, I really want everyone to eat well and I want businesses to do amazingly. Gracias!

As a vegetarian, he convinced me to try the tofu veggie tacos when they explained all the toppings were the same as the fish tacos minus the fish. We also got fries and a side green salad with pineapple mango vinegarette (yum!). Other vegetarian options include onion rings, taco bowl, taco mountain, impossible burger, coleslaw, mac salad, rice. I wasn't sure what to expect with these Hawaiian tacos (I've had some bad tofu tacos elsewhere) but these were amazing!! I tried to take notes to see if I could recreate these at home! My guesses: The tofu is fried and maybe in a chipotle sauce. With tomato onion jalapeño cilantro lime salsa, topped with the cabbage slaw (coconut milk, mayo, sugar, lemon, ginger), diced tomato and then with a mango salsa that has cilantro/lime, cheese in a white corn tortilla. Just delicious! My husband's fish tacos looked exactly the safe except had fish instead of tofu. The order comes as two tacos. Looking forward to returning! It's in a plaza so plenty of parking. Also family friendly. There was also outdoor seating (did not take a photo of it).
