Happy Hour Tacos & Plain Nachos

Pretty consistent. Reasonably priced Mexican food (for Maui) that's on par with any other chain. Nice cold beer, very competitive happy hour deals. Always friendly service. Fairly quick. Nice place with some TVs and Mexican music playing but you can still chat with your friends.

Who knew? Mexican food in Maui with a dash of Hawaii thrown in. Quick service by the young staff including Sage. Opened with drinks, fairly priced for the Islands and chips, salsa and queso. Perhaps the salsa could use a dash of tabasco. But good Main course a huge ground beef taco salad and kahlua pork tacos with black beans and rice, big servings! Good drinks good food,l Good service!

1/26/26 I was on Maui visiting a friend and was meeting another friend for my Birthday lunch so I followed her lead and went her recommendation. What a great location! A cantina style place with outside dining right across from the beach! You can't lose with a spot like this. Location! Location! Location! The service was stellar! Our server was on top of it! When I got the Chips and Salsa the Salsa was very flavorless. I asked for something spicier and was told it would be an extra charge.....disappointing! The Cadillac Margarita was more like a Yugo Margarita.....not impressive at all! I tasted no Grand Marnier whatsoever! The food was pretty good I had the Monterey Chicken with Rice and Beans and it was tasty and tender but lacked seasoning. I even asked for extra spicy and it was still rather bland. All in all it was a decent experience but could have been much more flavorful!

Fred's Mexican Cafe is a local dive bar in Kihei that serves greasy spoon diner food with a Mexican twist. Think huevos rancheros and breakfast burritos, but because this is Hawaii also expect to see spam fried rice, loco moco and Portuguese's sausage. The ambiance of this diner/bar is one of a joke in the wall college bar by the beach where it wouldn't surprise you that they have dollar shots and the champagne of beers on special, but because it's located right across the street from the Pacific Ocean, also expect a laid back beach shack vibe. The service here is friendly albeit a little informal, but they get the job done and that's the bottomline. They do have a large bar section in back where you can watch games, but be advised that this is an open air type of location so it tends to get a little claustrophobic. To sum up Fred's is to say you come here for the vibes, but leave with a belly full of greasy spoon specials.

Our go to Mexican spot in Kihei! Delicious chicken chicangderas!!!!!!!!!! Crispy in the outside and tasty chicken with beans in the inside!

The Mexican Benedict is the bomb, the sauce has just the write heat and the turkey, bacon and avocado really balance it. The potatoes are nice and crispy and service is awesome make u feel right at home.

f\Fred's just aint what it used to be. the food is still good b ut the potions have gone done while the prices went up. My favorite toquito plAte use to have four fat taquitos and now it is 3 slmmer ones. Unfortunaely there is a major sink hole on Kihei Road that is hindering b usiness/but then it shoud be offering specials to lure people in, b ut No.

Fred'sssssssss! So happy to have found a Fred's in Hawaii!! Same chain as the one in So Cal (previously in HB and still in old town San Diego) Great sit down Mexican food, yummy salsas, huge menu for food and drinks, taco Tuesday specials and a great view. Erika was a great server super friendly and attentive. Parking in the lot is tight, but worth the trouble. Highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area!

January 17th, 2026 Saturday 10:45 am .. you grab your silverware and seat yourself. Had to wait Kaha made it worth the wait! She helped and managed us well. Now off to Costco for a food for the next 2 1/2 weeks! Such a great feeling!

Fred's is such a fun atmosphere. Open air seating with a great menu of all the American Mexican favorites, and great service every time. The kalua pork enchilada was a little dry, but highly recommend Fred's for anyone looking for a great meal and experience in Kihei.

The bill to prove the feedback is based on real experience

Food: Carnea Asada would make any Mexican shamed to serve it. They literally killed the steak and the onions/tomato side looked it was cut with a butcher knife Drinks: my margarita had a hair in it at the very middle, so I asked to remove it Service: then we had a manager coming to our table convincing us that "he can't say if the hair didn't get into it in when I was drinking it". Ambiance: we tried to attract some attention from other waiters passing by with no success - looks like the owners and the personnel does not care at all about what they're doing here

    Pulled Chicken Enchiladas, meh.

The place is a bit 'divey' but the open view of the ocean across Kihei Rd and Kamaole Park II is pretty nice. The food? Not so much. We had lunch here; a Pescado Taco Plate with a substitute salad in place of rice and beans for her, and a large Guacamole as a side for our chips and salsa. She said it was ok. I tried the pulled Chicken Enchiladas, meh. We had Iced Tea and Coke for our drinks. Come here just for the view. Our waiter was Pu'ali, a nice guy and he provided good service.

    MEXICALI SKILLET
    Robert C.

was the first customer in for breakfast. Seating is as fast as you walk, because it is self seating. A sign tells you to grab a menu and silverware and find a table. I had the MEXICALI SKILLET (3 Eggs scrambled, Portuguese sausage, jalapeños green chiles, tomatoes, onions, potatoes & cheese. served with flour tortillas, chips & salsa ). I add an order of their house Habanero Salsa; not overly hot, but very flavorful. I always try to get a table overlooking Kihei Rd. Great food, great service and great views.

You know a place is legit when you gotta pay it in cash. The owners are always so friendly and the prices keep me coming back as well since everything on Maui, especially Mexican food can now be $17-20 for a plate sadly. I'm so glad they brought their Tamales back so I had to order that. I always order the Preparado because they add all the fixings, lettuce, tomato, lots of cilantro and onion and the crema. Their tacos are delicious as well and my go to is their Al Pastor & Carne Asada. Honestly a great taco to me can just have the simplicity of Cilantro and Onion. Not to mention adding their homemade salsas! I could taste the slight char of the tomatillos and peppers they use in the salsa which made every bite so scrumptious. The green salsa was mild and red was hot but for my taste, it was a perfect medium. Don't forget to wash it down with a Jarrito! They used to sell Mexican products but I can see they simplified to food and drink which in my opinion is top notch, food and cost wise. That's what always keeps me coming back!

It's also a filling burrito. I ordered the hot salsa but it was not hot at all. The service is great and the owners were very kind and friendly. I'm surprised I was the only one in there ordering during lunch because the food here is awesome! The space isn't very big but it is nice and clean and can hold maybe a little over 10 seats. Overall, I'm happy to say, I'll be a return customer :)
