Tierra is one of my favorite little shops to frequent in the area. They roast coffee and nuts themselves, and also package a wide array of dried fruit, spices/herbs, chocolates, seeds, and granolas. The coffee can't be beat - it's affordable and high quality. The bulk bins allow you to buy any amount - a great way to try a small amount of each coffee, or just to save a dollar per pound compared to the pre-packaged bags. Staff are friendly and the store is always impeccably clean. All the bags are compostable, and there's a collection bin outside the entrance if you don't have access to a composting system. read more

We grabbed A LOT of fun treats. My son got chocolate covered blueberries which he enjoyed. I got chocolate covered espresso beans and WOW: these little beans were full of flavor and packs a good wake up punch. My husband got a pack of chocolate covered almonds and I was skeptical at first but was pleasantly surprised. I am very excited to try their pistachio granola. And all Gluten Free!! I have been a loyal customer of the Unsalted Dry Roasted Sunflower Seeds, but the quality has changed significantly. The seeds in my recent orders are jumbo-sized and completely raw in taste and texture. It lacks the dry-roasted crunch and flavor the word 'Roasted' has also been removed from the front of the packaging, but it still sold as roasted. Very disappointed. read more

I bought some nuts from their booth at the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival this past fall. They were amazing! My sister bought some too and raved about their almonds. She bought several varieties of their organic nuts and she loved them so much. They had samples to try so of course we bought all of their garlic almonds I think. I went on their website to order my sister some of these nuts that she loved for a Christmas gift and I've already eaten a half a bag of their triple berry organic granola that I ordered for myself! My husband and I are senior citizens and stopped by to get some nuts etc. We usually buy high priced Tierra Farms products from the Berry Farm in Chatham. The Berry Farm has had good Covid protocol since the beginning of 2020 and continues to require its employees to wear masks, and strongly suggests masks for customers. The Berry Farm is the local Gold Standard for its thoughtful efforts in preventing covid spread. But because we were driving by, we decided to pick up a few things directly from the Tierra store. In contrast to our usual experiences at the Berry Farm, we were rather shocked to enter the Tierra Farms indoor retail shop (a medium sized enclosed room) and find that neither of the workers attending directly to customers were wearing masks, including the young woman at the checkout register. We of course were wearing masks ourselves, not only to keep from getting the virus ourselves, but in consideration to others who may be vulnerable or unable to be vaccinated. Because of the nature of the Delta variant, we should all be wearing masks while indoors interacting with strangers. Whether we are vaccinated or not, we can still be active virus carriers and can spread it to others while unaware of our infection. Be warned- employees here are NOT wearing masks while indoors and talking/dealing directly with customers in close quarters (within four feet proximity, indoors). This is unacceptable. The pandemic is still very much active at this time (Oct 2021). Why does Tierra Farms not care about protecting the health and wellbeing of its customers? One star. read more

BEST place for nuts, coffee, dried fruit. I love that they have a sign on the door that says smiles welcome, masks not required. Hopefully we are far enough along with doing our own research and seeing first hand that a mask doesn't help you from getting the virus or not. This company does not follow Public Health and Safety mandates for New York State. This is out in the retail area. This makes me wonder what goes on back where the public does not see. Not a chance I'd buy from them. While we were there a couple that we're well on in years asked the clerk to put on a mask while they made a purchase. Employees were not wearing masks when I walked in today Jan. 15, 2022. I asked one why and she said it was their choice! There is a mask mandate in effect for all indoor public spaces. There is no choice for employees and customers in a retail setting. Clearly they are breaking the law, but more importantly they have no regard for the health of their customers and their customers' friends and families. I am very disappointed with Tierra because I have been a customer since the day they opened and have sent many friends there as well as had their products shipped as gifts. For years I have enjoyed the roasted nuts from Tierra Farm purchased at Honest Weight Food Coop & The Berry Farm. A few months ago I ventured to the mother ship. Purchased in bulk: dried apricots, fresh, plump and delicious. Ditto with currants (who knew currants could be moist??!). They have coffee too. Plain nuts raw or roasted, and flavors like curried cashews which can be addictive. After searching unsuccessfully for organic dry roasted, salted nuts, I took a chance and ordered a 5 pound bag from Tierra. It showed up in a nice box with a very no frills large, industrial looking unlabeled plastic bag of nuts inside. I tasted the product and it's the best my wife and I have ever had. I don't know if it's the organic nuts themselves, the roasting process, the sea salt, or the fact that the batch didn't sit in a warehouse for 12 months, or all of the above, but their product is amazing. read more

Bought "raw almonds from California" from this company. Come to find out, you can't get raw almonds from Cali. All almonds are pasteurized. My issue is 1) the labeling of Raw almonds should reflect that they have been pasteurized,. 2) they were half eaten by rodents , i could see the teeth marks. 3) To cover up flavorless/ stale taste, almond extract was added to the batch. On more than one occasion, I bit into the bitter almond extract flavor. Gross business practice. What else are they hiding? I will never buy anything from this company again. read more

I shop at Tierra Farm often. You can try all the products which really helps when you're considering chocolate-covered Cajun cashews. (BTW - buy them!) It's a peanut-free facility, but there are many types of both raw and roasted organic tree nuts, great trail mixes, dried fruits, maple syrups, nut butters, dark and milk chocolates, fair-trade coffees, and loose teas. Gluten-free baked goods are also available. (Try the brownies; you'll be hooked.) The staff is friendly and helpful, and there are always different types of coffees and teas to choose for a complimentary cup. It's definitely worth a drive, and it's a great place to buy gifts. I looked and looked for the best tasting and best priced (we bought 20 pounds wholesale price for our family) dried organic mangoes with nothing added. These mangoes are undeniably addictive and top notch. We also ordered dried organic pineapple that we bought at a local store here that were amazing. We ordered wholesale and the batch we received were dry and tasteless. They returned them hassle free. I hope to get a good batch of dried pineapple soon from them! Beware this vendor: I placed a $90 order. I was so excited when the box arrived. However, the box had no packing material (I even took pictures for the service rep). Some containers were crushed, open and the almonds and walnuts were rattling around loose in the shipping box with a small roach. The hazel nuts were very dry and had a sour taste and the pumpkin seeds were bitter (squirrels wouldn't eat them either). The agent on the phone promised that I would be called back by the manager.
