Customer service has went down the drain I actually paid to get my jewelry clean and still had to go home and clean myself and then the lady that served me had nerve to tell me that I could buy the cleaning products on Amazon for 10 bucks instead of offering me the Tiffany cleaning set ..... obviously if you can afford to buy Tiffany, you can afford to get the cleaning kit also for me it's not about the cost. It's the quality but for me to have to go home and clean it myself better than the store I need to be working for them and cleaning their jewelry. A year and a half ago, my husband proposed with a beautiful ring which was over $25k. Fast forward to today. The diamond fell out despite an alleged lifetime warranty on the ring. I work at a desk job and can't think of any reason why the prongs wouldn't stay after less than 2 years. To add salt to this all, Tiffany's is asking for $875 to fix it! This is after speaking to two sales representatives and being a loyal customer. While I have received great service previously, I am very frustrated and disappointed in the store and their service. I have been to many a Tiffany's and have never had such terrible service. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted. Two necklaces and a new pair of earrings. After standing for awhile while the service attendant at the counter was working with someone else, some new customers had come in and were walking around looking as well. After about another five minutes when she was done with her existing client we patiently moved forward a bit to say what we wanted to buy and the sales attendant turned her back on us and moved on to the next couple because they were being loud about the wait. This happened twice before I just decided I no longer wanted to purchase anything from this store ever again. We were doing a little Friday afternoon Somerset shopping and strolling past Tiffany's, I saw through the window the sales woman who sold us my engagement ring. Christine is such a wonderful person and was so patient with us (me) when we picked out THE RING we stopped in to say hi. Great customer service from christine I got a pair of Tiffany sunglasses and over time they warped a little and I took them in and Christine replaced them with a new pair with no questions asked. So, yes, this is the famous "tiffany blue" bag jewelery store, and yes, the diamonds were more brilliant than any I have ever seen (I mean, when you walk in, the whole store literally sparkles, these diamonds are like none other), and yes, you will win major browine points (or bragging rights if you're the recipient) if you purchase jewelry from Tiffany & Co...HOWEVER, (let me preface this with saying I am not by any means uber rich, and I only purchased a cheap, by their standards, pair of pearl earrings) isn't half the reason you spend super mega bucks at a jewelry store about the experience and customer service? I was so excited to go to Tiffany & Co. and spend some major money and buy myself a very beautiful (wonderful quality) pair of pearl earrings. How could I go wrong? What could ruin my mood? Well, the service definitely did. I walked in the store to find about 5 sales people behind their engagement ring counters chatting to each other...they didn't even acknowledge my presence, not even once I started browsing their cases (one employee was even rudely leaning on the counter, from the customer side of the case, blocking my view, and even though I was showing interest, never moved). I may be wrong here, but isn't it the goal of sales staff to be overbearing and annoyingly helpful??? I made my way down some steps into the lower part of the store where the more reasonably priced (or in Tiffany terms "cheap") jewelry items are located (the sales staff here was more receptive and at least said hello). I was so turned off I decided to leave. Because Tiffany & Co. jewelry is really and truly superior to the competition, I did eventually decide to come back another day and purchase my earrings. I got the same reception upon first entering the store so I headed straight down to the cheap section and picked out my earrings. The only saving grace (and only reason for 2 stars rather than only 1) is the one wonderful sales woman down there who remembered me browsing previously and seemed happy to help me with my purchase. Basically, Tiffany & Co. is great, but that doesn't mean this location is. I am the kind of person who is all about the experience and I would never go back to this store based on the quality of service I received. I went into the store to return a purchase ($300) and was told I was unable to return it at the time as they had no cash available to give me. They offered to send me a check within 10 days....unbelievable right? They are not the kindest people, however, after I declined the 10 day check offer, the salesperson offered to call me once they had a cash purchase that day. I had shopping to do, so i agreed. Approximately 5 hours later, no call, so I went back into the store requesting to speak with the manager. Still unbelievable, he gave the the "no cash in the store story" and offered"10 day check"...to which I stated was unacceptable. The empty bags would cost more than $300 at Tiffany's right?. There are few colors as recognized as the Tiffany Blue when it comes to jewelry. This place has the highest quality items, a beautiful store, and decent customer service when you're buying something. I used to ask for Tiffany jewelry as a gift for every birthday...until their prices just skyrocketed out of my price range each year. I have never seen such blue sapphires, clear white diamonds, and the artistry of each designer and piece is beautiful and timeless. However, if you had a jeweler custom make some of their simple pieces (like an eternity band for example), you'll pay a quarter of the price for the same quality item. When I had an issue with a piece, I still had to pay an additional $60 to get it repaired, even though my bracelet wasn't even a month old. After spending close to $400 on it, you would think any damage in that short period of time would be covered. I paid that much for a sterling silver and onyx bead bracelet, not a solid gold bangle. If you like white gold, they only have platinum (which drives the price). My main issue is how high the prices get each year to receive that item in the classic Tiffany box. While the pieces are exquisite, you are paying mostly for the name. I'd rather put that money towards a bigger diamond or real gold, rather than spend it on sterling silver just to say it's from Tiffany's. I don't deny their quality is top notch, I just think for how much you spend, you should be getting a lot more for your money. My husband took me to the Tiffany store located at the Somerset Collection. Nancy greeted us immediately upon our entering the store. The ring I had chosen was not available in my size but she very quickly located one and arranged for it to be shipped to my home. We were treated extremlely well at this establishment; especially in view of the fact that we came from the Lansing area to shop. I wanted the ring engraved and she produced a paper that showed all of the beautiful scripts that Tiffanys offers and informing me that all engraving done by Tiffanys is by hand, not machine. Upon our exit every associate who was not busy with a customer smiled and offered an exit greeting. If zero stars were possible, that's what I would assign this store. Pretentious, rude, arrogant GM and employees - totally lacking basic customer service skills. When I arrived, there were three employees sitting and talking. One other employee was with a customer. No one offered to help me so I kept walking toward the counters as I had done my research and knew the exact items I wanted to purchase. They finally got the attention of one of the talking employees and he proceeded to speak flippantly and tell me what I should have done. I asked to speak to a manager. Glen, GM did not take my concern seriously. They were all rude and don't represent the brand well. I refuse to spend a dime there. I travel a lot and have never been treated so poorly in a Tiffany's store. They refused to share their regional VP's contact info. If I get a spare moment, I will write them as this store desperately needs training. If you live in Michigan, don't shop here. I had a key ring that I had gotten as a present over a year ago and I lost the screwball at the end of the key ring. I brought in my key ring and they replaced it no problem, with no cost to me. I want to say this is the only Tiffany's within a 100 mile radius of metro-Detroit, so definitely come out to the Somerset Collection when you are looking to give a great (expensive) gift to a loved one. The store is a fairly nice size, with a wide selection of jewelry and fragrances. The customer service here is super fabulous (which it should be since they work off of commission). They don't hound you, but they make sure you see the best of their collection. read more
