I can't recommend this wig store enough -- Phyllis is truly incredible at what she does! From the moment I called to schedule an appointment, I knew I was in the right hands. She not only took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for, but also guided me through the insurance process with care and expertise -- something most wig stores I called don't bother with. Unlike other places that just hand you an invoice and send you on your way, Phyllis actually works directly with insurance companies and knows exactly how to handle CLAIMS to ensure they are IN-NETWORK. That made a huge difference for me -- it meant NO out-of-pocket cost! I had to provide a doctor's prescription with 5 -digit code for my breast cancer, and Phyllis advised me to also ask my doctor to write and sign a "Letter of Medical Necessity (saying I'm allergic to synthetic wigs and needed human hair), along with the last three doctor's notes from my visits. (I was able to print them from my patient portal, and that was all she needed.) Phyllis submitted the claim herself -- no hassle for me, no back-and-forth with insurance, no confusion for me. Made an appointment and when we got there the very first thing the owner, Phyllis wanted to talk about was my insurance and how she has such a hard time collecting from them. The shop was a disaster. Paperwork, wigs, boxes all over the place. When I tried to tell her what I wanted, she went into the back room took a couple of wigs out of what look like shoeboxes shook them, and then just literally plopped them on my head. When I tried to fix the wig a little, adjust it to my head she yelled. Going through chemo and losing your hair is hard enough, but dealing with someone like that made it even more awful. She spent a fair amount of time telling us about her. Her back, her knee , honestly I wasn't really interested. Would never really answer the question about the cost of each of the wigs. Kept talking about how much insurance would or would not pay. I was in the stores for about 15 minutes and had to leave due to her rudeness, lack of empathy and just horrible behavior. In 4 months of dealing with brain cancer have I ever cried... and today I cried at how she made me feel and left. it is hard enough to deal with hair loss due to radiation without the rudeness I experienced today. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Phyllis is the owner and probably the rudest person I've ever met in my life. I'm in the middle of chemo and she was screaming at me on the phone about how she doesn't have long wigs and too bad. She said she had a black wig if I wanted that, but that's it (my hair has never been black in my life). I saw the insurance claim she put in for the one wig I did receive and it was 5 TIMES the amount of the cost of the actual wig from any website online. I understand people need to stay in business, but this is practically insurance fraud and should be reported to the BBB. She indicated that she was very busy. My friend Sabrina and I were the only ones there mind you. I sat down and waiting for her to come over. I went to Tiffany Wigs because they were an approved vendor for my health insurance. I went there before I started my chemo. Phyllis was able to come so close to my original hair color. She took the time to match it as much as humanly possible. 2 weeks into my chemo my hair started coming out. I was as ready as I could he and had my wig in hand. Phyllis made a very difficult time pleasant and was concerned about me being comfortable with what I purchased. Today I went to my oncologist office for the first time wearing my wig. The rudest experience I have ever had in any establishment ever. I walked in and the dark haired shop attendant yelled at me for not having an appointment, until she realized I did indeed have an appointment. When I began to explain what kind of hair piece I was looking for, she actually I told me to "shut up; I am the professional and I'll decide what to put on your head." She proceeded to stuff me into a too tight mess of a wavy wig with permatease 3 inches high. I have a fine straight bob and want something similar to my bio hair. When I rejected that piece, she pulled it off and threw it to the side; landed on the floor. She grabbed a very long wavy wig more red than blonde (I am dark blonde.) It was awful. She insisted it was "the one." I tried once more to explain what I wanted. She ignored me and took a phone call (I heard her yelling at that caller). After 15 minutes I left. Stay away. read more

I went to Tiffany Wigs because they were covered through my insurance. I have been to many different wig shops and hair replacement centers so I am familiar with how they work. I hope people understand that when you go to a place like this, you really do need to have an appointment for an initial consultation. Rarely will you find a place that accepts walk ins or people who just want to "try on wigs". I saw so much of that while I sat in Phyllis's chair and I can imagine her frustration. Needless to say, looking for a wig can be uncomfortable and frustrating. When my insurance decided not to cover me and I just gave up, Phyllis did the leg work for me and helped solve the issue with my insurance company. It was completely unexpected and very appreciated. She really does care about her customers and is experienced. She knows her colors and products like the back of her hand. Honestly, I've been ripped off so badly in some of the higher end boutiques. People are saying that the shop is a mess etc.... Well, appearances aren't everything. I would rather go to Tiffany wigs to work with someone who cares, understands hair loss, doesn't judge your diagnosis, works with your price range, and finds a way to get you a good deal than to get ripped off and rushed out $4000 later with something that doesn't even match my hair color. read more

I absolutely hated my experience at this store. I had to buy a wig because I was starting chemo. I made an appointment a few days earlier, but when I arrived, Phyllis was working with another customer and made me wait. I had expected a little privacy, but the fitting area is right in front of the window, in full view of anyone walking by. Before doing anything, my insurance card was taken by a very nice man - I'm guessing he's her husband. When it was determined that my insurance did not cover a wig at all, I told Phyllis that I was on a budget. At this point, she started to berate me, telling me it wasn't the time to be "cheap" and that I'd need to wear the wig for a long time. Then I was told she'd have to look in the back and try to find a cheap one that would suit me. I should have walked out, but I didn't. Oh - and there's a sign posted saying that if she spends more than 15 minutes "in consultation" with you there is a $50 charge if you don't buy anything. I am giving the one star rating because the "cheap" wig she brought out was really very nice and I purchased it. And her idea of cheap cost $375.00. I really should not have given Tiffany Wigs my business, but when you're stressed about cancer treatments, you just want to get these things over with. She told me to come back for a second fitting, but I would not ever set foot in that place again. I do not recommend going to this place. I found Phyllis to be both low class and rude. I've told the staff at the cancer center about my experience and not to recommend Tiffany to any new patients. read more

OMG !!!! if I can give 10 stars i would. I've never been to a place that was so patient and understanding of our situation. My mother just finished 10 rounds of brain radiation and lost all her hair. We couldn't find the right wig no one was willing to help us the way Tiffany wigs did ! After working with them back and fourth she got her wig in 2 weeks ! The hair is absolutely beautiful , so natural and so soft. I would Love to thank Tiffany wigs for helping my mother feel beautiful and giving her the strength and confidence she needed at such a crucial time. My mother came here after undergoing Chemotherapy. The hardest part of her treatment was dealing with losing her hair, so this was obviously an important purchase for her. She had an appointment with Phyllys, who co-owns Tiffany Wigs with her brother. Now I rarely leave reviews, but I believe the way Phyllys treated my mother needs to be displayed to anyone looking to shop here. Phyllys is an awful and nasty person that has no respect or sympathy for her clients, who are mostly Cancer patients. If my mother was unsure of the way a wig looked on her, Phyllys would make a rude comment such as, "you don't like it because you're pale" or "you chose to wear that ugly outfit that won't compliment the wig, so you don't know what you're talking about" or the very worst comment being "you won't be happy with any of the wigs you purchase here because you're upset at how ugly you look" It was truly shocking the way she treated my mother, who was so happy to finally receive the insurance money to pay for a wig, only to come home disappointed and upset. When she called later that week, she spoke to Phyllys's brother about how rude Phyllys was and how upset she was with her experience. Phyllys decided to call my mother back and tell her NOT to shop at TIfffany's Wigs anymore and continued to berate my mother with extremely profane names that I will choose not to explicitly mention. In case you were wondering, F words and C words spilled from Phyllys's mouth I highly suggest anyone interested in shopping here, to please research another wig business, as Phyllys is simply a terrible and inconsiderate person, with zero respect for people. I plan on contacting the American Cancer Society and all the major insurance companies that recommend Tiffany's Wigs to alert them that their recommending a business that berates their customers and has no problem cursing out their clients who are suffering from the side effects of chemotherapy. read more

I came on here to write a review on this place and I wish I would have checked the reviews here before going. It makes complete sense why this establishment has such bad reviews. My cousin went here and said the lady she worked with was so rude, but it is the only place in town so we figured we would try it out and maybe someone else would be there or the lady my cousin worked with had a bad day. Anyways, my mother and I went in there during the day. NO ONE was there. As soon as we walked in there were boxes everywhere and the place was a mess. We were confused if it was even open because no one was there to even greet us. We later found out she had just moved locations (ok no big deal). We looked around for a good 5 minutes until I finally shouted "Hello?" a minute later a woman came from the back on the phone and rudely pointed to me to hold. She then asked us if we had an appointment and tried to have a conversation with us while she was also having a conversation on the phone. We did not have an appointment and she said we had to make an appointment. We had no idea, the website does not specify by appointment only. This woman does not know us from a hole in the wall. Once off her phone call she proceeded to rant that we needed to make an appointment, and she works with cancer patients and she is too busy (no one else was in the store). I see my mom completely shutting down at her unprofessionalism and disrespect so my mom put down the wig and said never mind and started to walk out. This woman started to then explain her job and what she does and how she doesn't have time and is so busy, but that my mom can try on the wig (yeahhh like we feel so welcomed and want to stay at this point). I stopped her and told her this was bad business and that she has no idea of who we are, who we know, or our circumstances. I have never in my life experience such poor customer service. EVEN in a restaurant or anywhere! I also cannot believe this person works with cancer patients. I can't image her having any patience, empathy, or compassion. Phyllis, I assume based on these other reviews you were the woman we had this encounter with. You should really read all these reviews and take note and maybe change your attitude. Whether we planned to purchase something or not, as a fellow business owner a lot of GOOD business owners get their clients from word of mouth. I was told during a phone conversation with Tiffany Wigs that my insurance company would pay for a wig since I was a Cancer patient receiving Chemotherapy. When I went to look at wigs at this company, and selected one I wanted I was told it would be an additional $300 because I chose a wig with long hair. I paid the $300 and received a receipt stating my bill was paid in full. Tiffany Wigs requested I make the check out to cash.(?) It turns out the regular part of my insurance does not pay for a wig. Tiffany wigs has a brochure that says my insurance company does cover wigs. I received a bill from Tiffany Wigs stating to remit $350 which insurance company did not cover. I sent back a reply by certified receipt stating they should receive authorization from the insurance company before they do the transaction. There was no policy written anywhere that long haired wigs will be up to you to pay. I distributed flyers for this company because the woman said a worker at White Plains Hospital who was a customer through them out. I returned one of the pamphlet holders because it was not necessary and offered to distribute more on their behalf at Sloan Kettering. No reply was ever received until today. I received a phone message saying my account is in arrears and will now go in to collection. First phone call did not even mention my name. Second phone call a minute later stated my name and their phone # which was left out in initial phone call. My insurance company called them on my behalf initially and someone said Maria said there was no one to talk to about this matter. This is the first time I have heard from them after original bill so 8 or 10 months have passed. Would not recommend this business. I went there at a friend's suggestion. Even she thought it was a mistake after we left. First of all, Phyllis was pushy & insulting. She told me what to get and offered very few choices for me to try on. She never explained lace front vs. other types. Her shop was filthy. I went there because there is no one else in this area & because she said she worked with insurance. Well, that meant that she overbilled the insurance for a higher amount (like double) than what the wig was worth. She also pulls the brand tags from the wigs and tries to attach her own. That's why you will never receive your purchase in a box. Overall I don't know how she stays in business, other than being the only wig store in the area. My experience at Tiffany Wigs was a good one. Being new to the concept of losing my hair through chemo, I thought Phyllis and Stacey were very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. They took their time with me, while still being attentive to the other customers in the store. It was very important to me to "look like me" and they both wanted to help me achieve that. So even though I was there a long time, they continued to show me different styles, colors and accessories that would work for me and didn't make me feel rushed. When I found "the perfect" wig, the color was spot on to my old hair (which made me very happy), and Stacey (with Phyllis guidance), stylized it to my specifications. I felt like me again. Phyllis is definitely one of a kind and I will agree that she gives an unusual and even a poor first impression. She is unorthodox, unprofessional in demeanor and can be annoying in the way she treats a new customer. But, IMHO, once you get past that, her positives far outweigh her negatives. Phyllis knows her wigs, knows her business and is excellent at selecting the right wig. We thought that she was trying to scam us, but after we researched, it turned out that she was a giving us a better wig for less than other places. . We had a problem with our insurance and Phyllis helped and explained what was missing from our paperwork. She is a cancer survivor, is still fighting it and knows the battle her customers are going through. She spoke to my wife at length to reassure her and explained the long process that is part of this battle. Many true "artists" are good at their art but rough around the edges with their business skills and social graces.......I believe Phyllis is one of those eccentric type artists. I am a teenage girl and have been struggling with hair loss since November of last year and am in an extremely fragile state. Not only did this woman diminish the fact that loosing your hair at 16 is a traumatizing experience but she forced me to try on wigs out in the open when i specifically asked if we could handle it in private. She was incoherent, and not making sense the entire 40 minutes i spent with her ( making me think she was on some kind of drugs). I heard about this wig shop from a nice lady at the cancer breast center where I was undergoing chemo. I was a bit apprehensive because it's about an hour from Manhattan, but I'm glad I made it out there. From the first day I walked in, I had a nice experience here. Phylis, the owner, has just been so wonderful to me. I'd describe her as a straight-shooter and it is that candor and sincerity that I appreciate... Especially since she too has experienced this difficult battle herself. She's also patient with me. I've been extremely particular about what I wanted. I was continuing to work during treatment and was determined to find a human hair wig that looked as natural as possible with highlights like I used to have since I wasn't ready to share with everyone at the office. Here I was able find it. At Tiffany Wigs, it's clear they really make an effort to get to know their clients and I've always felt like I was among friends when I walked in. Tiffany wigs has a great selection of wigs of fine quality and the staff really understood what I was looking for. Even would go into detail about the difference between human and synthetic which I thought was nice. If it wasn't in the store, they would order the specific wig to fulfill my needs. And on top of that, this was also covered by my insurance which helped tremendously. The prices charged by other wig shops in Manhattan were astronomical! Adding insult to injury since I've spent so much on medical bills as it is. They also handled the paperwork with my insurance, one less thing I had to worry about.
