At work, we pitched in money to cater a farewell luncheon party from Grape Leaf Diner and the gathering took place in our office conference room. While I did not experience the ambiance at Grape Leaf Diner today, I can say from a past visit that the atmosphere is clean, bright with lots of windows, and with comfortable chairs and booths. The restaurant is located near or within a small strip mall at the Holland, OH location. (The Grape Leaf Express location in Toledo, OH located on Monroe St near Franklin Park Mall is also in a strip mall.) The food ordered today included chicken shawarma, yellow rice with vegetables (green beans, corn and peas), hummus, pita bread, and a Greek salad. There was also a dish of grilled vegetables that included squash and zucchini. While I didn't want to be rude and photograph food in the middle of the party, I took some screenshots posted by the restaurant to give you an idea of the food presentation. The salad ingredients were very fresh and delicious. Hummus was perfectly flavored. I always wish that Mediterranean rice had more vegetables, though it was delicious. I found the chicken shawarma a bit salty, but I'm salt-sensitive, so most people probably would love it; the meat was lean. As for the zucchini and squash vegetables, they looked delicious but we didn't have plastic knives, and I couldn't manage to cut them or eat them with the plastic forks. It was a beautiful presentation and I recommend that you give this restaurant a try! A tip for summer weather: the A/C was cranked up high when I was last there... maybe bring a jacket or sweater if you tend to run cold. read more

Very family oriented for a casual dinner. Servers are very attentive, polite and courteous. Drink order came almost immediately and entree order given. Nice time between salads and entree arriving. I'm so unhappy with our experience at the Grape Leaf last night. We ordered dinner for the 2 of us to pick up and eat at home. My wife's chicken shawarma was overcooked and rubbery. I got a Greek salad & paid for an extra Greek dressing and extra feta. I've never experienced a drier salad in my life. Even with extra dressing, it was simply dry. As for the so-called extra feta, it was non existent. The saving piece of the meal were the lamb grape leaves, at least they were good. But $55.00 for sub-par food is inexcusable. To be fair, we did not call them and complain and give them a chance to rectify the situation but, I'm not driving 35 minutes round trip for something that should've been right the first time. read more

Arrived about noon on a Monday, found the diner about half full. I ordered the "falafel salad," which is really more like a vegetarian combo platter, with fatoush, tabouli, and hummus as well as the namesake bean patties. All items were good. Falafels were crisp outside, soft but not mushy inside. Hummus was creamy with plenty of garlic and lemon flavor. The portion of tabouli was generous, and very good. Nice piquant dressing on the fatoush (really more of a lettuce salad than a true fatoush, but nothing I'd complain about.) Service was quick and very attentive, with several check ins from my server. I go to Toledo often, but sadly, not often to this corner of it. GLD is a great stop if you're in the area. read more

This one is a mixed bag. I really want to like it here. It has excellent reviews, but I wasn't impressed. The service was pretty miserable. I sound like an old fart, but it's mostly young adults or teenagers who mostly want to stand away from the tables and talk. Some of them actually were sitting at the empty booth. I guess my work ethic was if you have time to lean, you have time to clean, or at least wait on the three tables that are there. My husband ordered the gyro and I the gyro salad. Someone who didn't take our order brought out his gyro and then just walked away. I assumed my salad must be right behind. Wrong, about 5 minutes later I had to ask a different server to locate someone to help us. Our server was standing and talking in the back. I also think the person who dropped off the gyro should assume I'm not going to sit and watch him eat. He enjoyed his gyro but to me the gyro salad was blah. Mushy tomatoes, crappy olives, feta cheese that looked like little tiny shreds, and mediocre dressing. We have a closer location to me in Perrysburg, but I can't see myself going back. There are many better Mediterranean restaurants in Toledo. Don't believe the hype and reviews for this place. Try somewhere else. read more

I ordered carry out from here recently. The Greek Spinach Pie was not as cheesy or mushy as I would have expected but had decent flavor. It came with a bit of hummus and a house salad. The hummus was OK, not the best nor the worst. The salad was outstanding - dark green lettuce, tomatoes, and crispy cucumbers with a delicate dressing. Had catering from Grape Leaf Diner for a Holiday party with my family. It was easy to order over the phone. We are from out of town and had heard good things about the food. We had the classic kabobs package for 20 adults. It was delivered on time and the food was extremely tasty. We had one plate of chicken, one of steak, hummus, greek salad, rice, and grilled vegetables. Everyone enjoyed the food. A couple of things you should ask about is additional pita bread and plates. I asked about plate and plastic ware, so they did provide those. They only provided one bag of pita bread which was not enough for 20 people. Not a big deal, but the other watchout is they did charge a delivery fee which is not mentioned on their site or when I called. For years the Grape Leaf Diner has been my go-to for Lebanese take out. Everything is always so good and fresh. They're very accommodating when it comes to food allergies and dietary restrictions. My favorites: lamb grape leaves w/ garlic sauce, hummus, tabouli, lemon rice soup, greek salad (extra dressing), and also the arayis/arayes. Good portions of food, quick service, nice staff. I've never dined inside, but people are always there happily eating whenever I stop in. read more

This place is such a gem, and some of the best Lebanese food in town! When you dine in, you are offered complimentary fried and seasoned pita, it's a must try. I always order the Shrimp Mushroom Sauté, and have them add some grilled onions. It's so good over rice, and the house salad is so tart and lemony! Love it! Located in a small strip. It's not a huge place, but it's a really neat place. Decorated in beautiful lights and decor. It is very welcoming as are the kind folks working here. They seem to know their customers and enjoy talking with them. Especially the regulars. Food here is stellar. I ordered hummus for an appetizer. It's served with pita and pita chips. House made of course with seasoning. The hummus is swirled smooth a plate with seasoning. It's tart and lemony with a nice cumin counterbalance. Pita is fresh. As is the plate of cucumber, radish and onion served with it. I had the large fattoush grilled chicken on top. Pretty sure they put a pound of grilled chicken on top. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and was sliced into moist strips that I thoroughly enjoyed dipping in some hummus. The salad had more of that fresh house made pita chips, fresh romaine, parsley, radish, onion, cucumber, tomato in a tart and lovely fattoush dressing. This is most surely my favorite local ethnic restaurant. The lemon rice soup I must say is better than any I've had by far. The tabouli is always a must order for us. It's great as a side or full meal. The Grape Leaf offers both meat and vegetable grape leaves. Kibbeh, spinach and meat pies, fatoush and hummus. So many more delicious items on the menu. The prices are moderate and there is a parking lot right outside the door. The restaurant does a great business also with carry out and catering. This place is a cool and legit Mediterranean restaurant. Not fancy, but a very home-style and comfy feel. They have all the standard favorites (hommous, baba ghanouge, shish kabobs, etc., etc.). A very large menu that's all done very well and has something for everyone (vegetarian, also). Prices are very good and you don't go home hungry. I've been wanting to give these guys a shout out for a while because of how special they are. This is one of these places that pops in your head out of nowhere and you say to yourself "I have to go back now!" Which doesn't happen with every place. They have online ordering, too. People can justifiably rag on T-Town for various reasons (inept and irresponsible city government, excessively dreary winters, etc), but one thing that CANNOT be said is that we have lousy Middle Eastern food. Although other cities may have larger Arab populations, the Middle Eastern community in Toledo is deeply rooted and is still growing. Thus, we have more than our share of excellent Middle Eastern restaurants. And, TGL is quite good. It's not the best in town, but it's quite good. I hate to admit this, but eastern Mediterranean hummus seems to be more flavorful and pleasantly textured than Greek hummus, and in my opinion, TGL probably has the best hummus in town. In addition, they are quite good at catering. This is one of our "go to" places if we need quick and good food for a party. No catering job is too big or too small. read more
