I love this place! It is hands down my favorite ramen shop. I've ordered a few different ones and they have all been good. One day I walked in and asked my server what he recommended and he pointed out this one that was creamy and spicy and had peanuts and I have ordered it very time ever since. I introduced my oldest son and my boyfriend and they both love it too. The ambiance is great. They have a community table where every where can sit together although right now they do have dividers separating people due to COVID. I feel like this place is as close to somewhere I would go to if I were in Japan. Service is good and they have a good beer selection too! I think this is my favorite ramen place in Houston! The place is always packed, and they have random hours but whatever. They also do this thing where you put your name down on a piece of paper outside the door to get seated so it's definitely first come first served. I ordered the original tonkatsu ramen because that's my favorite. I really liked the flavoring of the broth. it's wasn't too thick or salty for me, almost perfect. I really enjoyed the texture of the noodles as well. They definitely tasted super fresh. I really liked how they topped it off with onions/chives or whatever it's called because I like that flavoring in my ramen! Garlic black bean Ramen was lacking flavor EVERYWHERE the ingredients, veggies, toppings, etc, the broth came out luke warm/barely warm which is completely unacceptable how old is this broth? pork was a generous piece but again missing flavor, tasted like old pork and bland not fresh something wasn't right about the food here. It's been a quite a while since I last visited tiger as an adult, with the last time being when I was in college and let me tell you nothing has changed. Flavor is still top notch with their tsukumen, the dipping ramen. I love love spicy flavors and this is nice and spicy compared to most other ramen places as well as flavorful and creamy. Service is good and food came out on time. The decor and layout hasn't changed much either and it was very nostalgic. I like it because you can pack a lot of parties in that space. They do have plenty of tables and seats so the wait is doable at times. Weekend nights are usually a longer wait but just go ahead and sign your name on the wait list. The ramen here is consistent with good choices of appetizer. My go-to ramen is usually the spicy miso or the tonkotsu. Good flavors with the right amount of spice. Soft pork meat and poached egg was average. Texture of the ramen noodles were soft and plenty of broth in the bowl. During my most recent visit, I tried the takoyaki. I'm always looking for the best takoyaki in town. Although, it didn't blew me away but it was pretty good. The ribeye and chicken hearts skewers were also good. Comes with two per order. Heard this place was one of the best in Houston so I had to try it out for myself. On a Friday night it was packed and the wait was about 20 mins for our party of 3. Make sure your party is fully there or they will move on to the next party on the list. The appetizers were pretty solid, we tried the pork goyza, cucumber salad and the Brussels sprouts. I'm a huge dipping ramen fan so I had to try the tsukemen. The waiter did warn me about the level of spice in the broth prior to making my final decision but I wanted to take on the challenge regardless! Boy was it spicy but really good. I liked the depth of ingredients and flavor of the broth. A tip for the owner would be to have a non spicy version of the tsukemen! Service was great! 2 words: DIPPING RAMEN (aka: tsukemen) I have been here several times and I refuse to order anything else. It's my absolute favorite because I'm a huge fan of spicy food. However, the tsukemen is inconsistent with their spice levels. There have been times where the tsukemen was not that spicy, but when I went this last weekend, my mouth was on fire. I loved it! Although it could've been a little less spicy. (My server did warn me). I've tried the ribeye skewer once and it was delicious. Juicy, tender, and well seasoned. One of my other favorite items is the Pandan Custard Donut. If you're a pandan fan, you will love this. It's essentially a light and airy flaky bread with pandan sauce on the side. It's so yummy! I highly recommend it. The worse thing about this place is the wait, but it flies by fairly quickly if you have a small party (2-4 people). Every year my rating for Tiger Den goes up and up. After trying numerous ramen shops in Houston, I can confidently say that Tiger Den has the BEST RAMEN! I don't crave any other ramen place like I do Tiger Den. The noodles that they make in house has this bite and perfect al dente that I love. I'm never worried that my noodles are overcooked or soggy. My go to ramen right now is the TANTAN-MEN. This one had the spicy ground pork and pork chashu so I like the different textures of meat. My other favorite ramens from here is the Garlic Black Bean and the Tsukemen (Dipping Noodle). Not many ramen places have the dipping ramen but Tiger Den's is bold and spicy and hits the spot. I love that they have a variety of condiments laying out on the table for you to add and you don't have to ask your server. I always load up on the chili powder and chili oil to make my ramen spicier. Tiger Den also had the best appetizers. If I wasn't feeling ramen I would just come here and order a bunch of appetizers. The one I always have to get is the BEEF TONGUE. It has the chewy texture that is pleasant and is complimented well with the mustard sauce. I'm craving it just writing about it. When you talk about ramen, everyone always asks what your favorite spot is, and honestly, I have no idea. We kicked things off with the brussel sprouts which somehow took a pretty polarizing veggie and made them the most delicious things ever - like, could eat these things at each meal. The pork belly was the standout here - perfectly cooked and spiced with pepper, it basically melted in your mouth. This place is great! Went on a Friday night and had 10 people in front of us, but the line moved very fast so we only waited about 20 minutes. I ordered the garlic black bean ramen and my boyfriend had the tonkotsu. Garlic black bean was very flavorful, but light so I didn't leave feeling overly full. I actually live in Spring, TX. It's a 41 mile, 43 minute drive (one way) from my home to Tiger Den and WORTH EVERY BIT OF THE DRIVE! I go for their Tsukemen. It is the BEST THING that I have ever eaten in my LIFE! I always order one to eat there and one to take home with me for the next morning. (I try to make it there at least once a month and I always have my son (or any of his friends that also drive out there from the Conroe, TX area) to bring me an order back when they visit. I highly recommend you try it! Also their Chicken & Green Onion Skewers (the sauce is amazing) and their Ribeye Skewers. Great place for ramen. Pretty niche-y to eat here; the hype comes from the long line of people waiting outside after signing their name, waiting for tables. My party arrive right upon opening, sign our name third in line, and still managed to wait 30mins to be seated (we even watched as the hostess peek out the window to look at all those waiting to be seated, and you can look inside and see that it was mostly empty upon first opening). Their ramen is doubtly delicious. The best is the spicy tantanmen. The kick of the spice really hits your tastebuds (and gut) but it's the uniqueness of the flavor that makes it so good! The broth is also nicely thick and savory. The only downside to this ramen is that you will regret it hours later on the toilet (if you don't get an ulcer first!). Their grilled teiyaki squid and fried gyoza are also tasty as well, but nothing stood out as much as the spicy ramen. I have tried their other ramens, but all were undoubtly nothing special, not like the spicy tantanmen. Overall, if you are okay with waiting, and crave ramen, this is the place for you! For me, I would definitely come back for spicy tantanmen as it is hard to find anything like it elsewhere. Otherwise, nothing else really draws me to this restaurant.
