Tiger sanitation used to be great. I had had their service for nine years and the first eight years. I have no complaints. Not really sure what happened in the last year, but they went way downhill. They stopped allowing extra bags and wouldn't pick up if the lid was even an inch open and they started raising their prices, but that's not why I gave it one star. The reason for one star is because I sold my house and was moving out of the area to an area where they do not service so I needed to cancel my account. They told me that they charge $25 plus tax to pick up my can that I've had there for nine years. I asked why and the lady told me that that is their service fee for picking up a can that is their property in the first place. I told her I do not agree to pay the $25 and asked if the phone call was being recorded and that I absolutely deny being charged even one penny for them to pick up their own property. That is a part of doing business when you have a service and you lend out a product and you charge a service before the product every month you do not charge to pick up your product at the end of the time. I argued with them back-and-forth for quite a while and again checked that the recording was recording my denial of payment for the pick up of the can and they said yes. Two days later I get a charge on my credit card for over $27 from Tiger sanitation I have been unable to reach them in order to get my money back. Who win the right mind charges the customer for their own operating expenses. That is part of the service And shame on them. Greedy business with no ethics. This trash service sucks. Multiple times they missed our trash but picked up others on our street. When I called to request a pickup, it wasn't until 3 days later. For multiple consecutive weeks in my neighborhood, Friday trash service has been missed. Two of the recent times where there has been a delay, an email went out to at least notify customers of the service delay and trash was picked up on Saturday morning. This week, however, trash was not picked up on Friday. I am writing this review on Saturday evening, with my trash can still outside waiting to be picked up. I did see a garbage truck collect from one half of the street, but apparently it did not continue through the rest of our street. I also have had long wait times on customer service, and other somewhat recent service changes have included not accepting glass in recycling as well as decreasing recycling collection to every other week. We have one other option in our subdivision, about whom the reviews are equally as negative, so unfortunately, our neighborhood is stuck between a rock and a hard place. I have been a customer of Tiger's for a little over a year. I have previously been with another company who had the time hadn't "been able" to pick up our trash for 2 weeks so I immediately switched. My experience has been great. Yes there have been times where they have missed a pick up but that is handled on the next business day. As far as service, their trucks also come through on a routine schedule, normally before 9am. I'm glad I switched, I've never had issues calling in for service and the price is comparable to other trash companies in San Antonio. read more

Tiger Sanitation does a good job of emptying the trash on schedule, and I appreciate the consistency of their regular pickup service. However, their bulk trash pickup policy is incredibly frustrating. I spent considerable time breaking down branches and neatly packing them into three 95-gallon bags, as directed by one operator, only to be told later they only accept four 35-gallon bags. It's infuriating to receive conflicting instructions, especially after putting in so much effort to follow their guidelines. They can handle a 95-gallon bin but can't take bags of similar size? I rent my home so I am stuck with the lousy service I have heavy trash that I have heavy trash that I have to haul to the dump cause they only have heavy trash like once a year. And it's at collection point. So that means I have stock pile trash for a year and then borrow/rent a truck to haul to the selected trash dump. I have the most amazing people working on the trucks in my neighborhood with Tiger Sanitation. They are Rafael Badillo, Sebastin Cervera, and Sergio Hernandez. These men are extremely kind to everyone in the neighborhood, especially the children. The children love seeing the big trucks. If they see you taking your trash out at the last minute they will even wait for you to get to the curb. One time, they came back to pick up my trash after I followed them in the car and told them that I was late. Hats off to these amazing workers. read more

However, if you need to make a change or need assistance, you're told they will call you back in 24 to 48 hours. This has been happening for three weeks, and I have not heard back. I am not happy with Tiger sanitation. In my neighborhood we were given a list of sanitation companies to use. After owning my home for almost 3 years, we got a letter saying we were going to fined for not using Tiger because apparently our neighborhood had an exclusive contract to only use Tiger. I never signed a contract stating that. My previous company was $65 a quarter and we never had any issues. We were very happy with Hill Country Waste. After all of this, we had to switch to Tiger in fear of being fined by our HOA. I was quoted at $83 a quarter for trash and recycling. I said I don't want recycling and they said "oh it's the same price with or without recycling." They had my card on file and didn't go through with the payment for one month of use. My statement this week is $141. I called to see why and they said because I didn't pay initially. No, you had my card on file and didn't take payment. Also, now they stated that my HOA agreed to a price increase but didn't tell its residents. Although $7 might not be a lot to people, we were paying $65. So that's an increase that we were not expecting for a reason that's out of our control. Beyond frustrated!!!!!! I do not recommend. read more

I have had one good experience with a professional lady ...otherwise they will find every reason to not pick up your garbage but will take your monthly fee ... put you in long waits on the phone. I put my can(s) out always the night before if I need to have them picked up but on Mar 19 2024 my trash can was sitting out where I always park it and it was NOT picked up. This time I had a full can we I called the company for a solution. So, when I contacted the company their rude customer service lady told me that was my problem and that the driver stated that my can was not out front for them to service. Now you tell me that this driver knows everyone's can on his route and he can remember which ones were out and which ones were NOT? Any way she tells me that I need to prove my case to her and that they will not come to pick up my trash and that I will need to wait for the next service date. We've occasionally received rebates to cover the missed pickups, but doesn't really make up for getting covered in ants or maggots trying to pick up trash the raccoons spill out while the can sits on the curb for a pickup that doesn't come. Service was decent when we first signed up with them 2 years ago, but sometime last year they hiked prices ($95 / quarter) and reduced recycle pick-up to once every two weeks. Today I finally decided to pull the trigger and leave them for Metro after they refused to service my residence due to "can overflow". Can you really blame me when you didn't pick up any trash on Thanksgiving week? Metro is roughly the same price, a few bucks cheaper actually and they pick up recycling every week. They've missed on recycling and notify you by email they'll pick up the next day by 7 am but you don't receive notification until 3pm the date of the rescheduled pick up. Since our last sanitation removal service dropped my neighborhood in 2023, I reached Tiger Sanitation and arranged for service. Initially service was OK, billing was regular. Then I didn't receive billing for a couple of months and then my trash pick-up is suspended. Contacted customer service the woman was very nice and understanding and I was able to resolve the problem and continue service. Once again, no invoice, service curtailment, customer service mentioned a problem with the billing service. Customer service recommended paying for the entire year and cited the amount. First week of December that payment cleared, three months later I receive an invoice for $470. I'm canceling service, but I'm having my doubts if I receive a refund for the remaining term. I feel sorry for the customer service phone reps. but the ownership/management are out of their minds. Monday I will once again contact customer service, but I'm not holding my breath. read more

I see quite a few negative reviews for Tiger, but want to say that we have never had an issue in 12 years. Employees are friendly, careful and courteous while driving down our neighborhood streets. Tiger Sanitation canceled our service after 18 years without a call or letter. We were left with having to get rid of trash while having paid them for the service. I had to call asking what was going on and was told they decided to cancel service because the route was not making them enough money. They have not refunded the money that was paid for services through October 2024, and it has been a month. I highly would recommend that any new customer go elsewhere instead of using them. Worst waste company ever! We have service with them for 2 years. In that time span we could NEVER get additional pick up or any other kind of service outside of the standard pick up. We went on vacation and notified them of some additional bags and they approved it then the guy actually never picked them up. They stayed there on the side for over a week until returned and that was 2 pick up opportunities! We recently went on vacation a second time and when we returned our trash can was missing. I called their office waited over an hour for a call back and decided to call again. When I informed the rep that our trash can was missing I was told there is a $100 replacement fee or get a police report to replace it and then pay $25 per can assigned to you for cancellation and retrieval. RETRIEVAL can ONLY be done on service days. So it's not like they are making any additional trips out to you! The guy offered no resolutions no empathy could tell me nothing. So if you have service with them just understand the bare minimum is what they will do and if you decide to cancel they will charge you for the retrieval of your cans only on days that are convenient for them! read more

I find that the cut in recycling pickup has driven our family to throw more recyclables into the garbage for no other reason than because Tiger doesn't uphold the terms that I signed up for and that I still to this day, pay for. If you are short on manpower...hire more. If you can't hire more manpower...raise your offered pay rates. If that raises our service rates...so be it, at least it is transparent and upfront business. What you are doing is cutting services for monies paid under a different agreement, which is tantamount to theft. I also noticed that your website goes into a lot of detail about how we can make YOUR job easier by cleaning our recyclables, but doesn't provide an update on our service cuts and where they stand in terms of being fixed.
