Another boba shop in Beaverton! Even though I don't love the brown sugar boba trend, I think this place overall did a pretty good job - from speed of service to flavor of the drink, I was pretty impressed. When we went, there was a grand opening event, and even thought the event page said 12:30 opening, by the time we got there around 11:45, there was already a line and they were already serving drinks. One of the biggest issues that a lot of new businesses face is just the efficiency of the orders getting out, but this place was functioning as if it had been open for a long time. Orders as many as four drinks at a time were being put out about every 2-3 min, and even though there weren't that many staff - about 5, the line was moving very very quickly. The Signature drink that I got (with Lactaid milk option!) actually did not cost any more to get the milk sub (BIG PLUS), and the overall taste and "Q"ness of the boba was pretty spot on. One complaint was that the bigger boba could have been just slightly more chewy, but that is just me being slightly picky. There is no sugar level adjustment, but I would say that as someone who doesn't love super sweet drinks that it was fine! The brown sugar flavor was very rich and well coated the cup. Additionally, the boba itself had a good flavor (I think they soak it in some syrup too?), and although I didn't love the combination of small and big boba (I prefer the bigger ones), they overall helped the drink and gave it that nice boba texture! I'll be visiting again, and excited to try the "Coming Soon" flavors on the menu (including Taro, Matcha, etc.)! read more

As if there isn't enough boba franchises in the Portland metro area, this one just opened up in Beaverton and I actually can say that it does stand out to be one of my favorites. Why? Because their signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk & Pearl with Crean Mousse reminds me of the boba ice cream bars that you find at the Asian markets. The boba is super soft and chewy which isn't always the case, but they got this part down. On their website, it says the brown sugar and cream creates a unique Tiger striped affect, which I didn't even think was the reason behind their name, but it makes sense! Anyways, definitely going to be coming here more often! read more

Was I anxiously anticipating and awaiting the opening of Tiger Sugar in Beaverton? Y E P. To say I was stalking their page to see when they'd be opening is a clear understatement. What can I say? Brown sugar milk tea makes me do strange things #oops. I dropped by Tiger Sugar the day after the grand opening and wowza, there was still a giant line down the side of the building! Thankfully, it moved pretty quickly and thety were quite efficient for how much of a crowd there was. Order a drink and wait till your number is called -- it'll appear on the screen they have on the side as well. I went with the #5 aka brown sugar milk tea but with the pudding/mousse~ Definitely delicious! Sugar wise I felt like it was perfect for me and my sweet tooth though I can see how others would feel it was too sweet. Obviously Tiger Sugar is known for their brown sugar milk tea goods, but I have to admit I've been peeking at their taro milk tea which I would love to try next time! This afternoon my Pharmacist decided to treat everyone to boba. I had never been to Tiger Sugar before so I played it safe. I got a #1. First thing I noticed was that it seemed much smaller than cups at Mo Cha Tea House, or Chen Fu. However I didn't pay so I didn't complain. The flavor was interesting it had a slight Chai Tea ( yes redundant I know) with a little spicy flavor but it wasn't exactly that. I kinda liked the ball bearing size boba balls though. I think that there might have been to much ice in it because it got really watered down after a while. I only took sips periodically between filling prescriptions. I'm a fan of bubble/boba tea & thought I'd give this version a try on my way to the MAX. For those that don't know, Tiger Sugar is dark brown sugar in liquid form drizzled along the inside of your cup to give a "striped" effect - no actual tigers are in the beverages ;) The "base" Tiger Sugar drink is milk & dark brown sugar syrup with boba - you can add some different flavors to the milk like chocolate or matcha. They can be hot or iced. When I entered, I was struck by the lack of indoor seating - so you can't sit and enjoy your drink. Most of the indoor space is devoid of any use or character - except the table with the stuffed tiger on it. Guess tigers get a place to sit in here but not people ;) There's no designated place to wait after you order - so that led to confusion from customers on who was in line to order & who was waiting. There is a robot reading off your order number when it is ready. I felt like for only having 4 orders ahead of me the line moved slowly - I think it was a 20 min wait... so if you need to catch a train/bus, plan accordingly. There's no ingredients listed on any of the drinks or the website - like what is tiger cheese foam? Who knows! If there are ingredients listed, they're written in Chinese. There is a little bit of "Engrish" on the posters and the cups which I found just a tad funny - like "Be caution!" on the drink XD They did have a box up front showing they use Organic Valley milk or Lactaid milk in their beverages. There was a sign mentioning that they had soy milk too. You can customize, at least on some beverages, the sweetness but just 50% or 100%, not 0% or 25%. I was told my drink, the Taro pudding one, couldn't have the sweetness adjusted because all the sweetness comes from the taro....except they forgot to mention that the boba that comes in the drink has the brown sugar in it. So the drink was sweeter than I would have liked it. I did like the pureed taro in the drink & whatever the foam was on top. If I tried them again, I would ask for the drink without boba to avoid the dark brown sugar that was in mine. My partner said that his Signature #1 drink was just like really fancy sugar-milk and was missing the "tiger stripes" by the time I got home on the MAX - understandably the stripes don't survive a shaky MAX ride for 20 min, but the drinks do travel well as long as you keep them sealed. They do have a lot of plastic waste there because their drink carriers are plastic bags, the straws, cups, and lids are all plastic. So what do I think? Tiger Sugar is a gimmick - that you get neat "stripes" of sugar in some of the beverages as long as you drink it quickly after it's made, and it's about the price of a premium latte ($5-6 range). I do think they need to add indoor seating, a place to wait for your order, list their ingredients, and allow more drink customization options for the price point. Starbucks, as an example, has all those things at the same price point. Would I be back? Meh, it wasn't special enough for me to justify the cost other than a one time purchase - in the end most of the beverages are indeed really expensive sugar-milk. read more

Long lines and all the credibility and hype on instagram made me drool in anticipation for this new boba shop from NYC. The long lines were moving along slowly. The workers were dishing out drinks like a machine. I ordered a signature tiger boba, a cafe latte boba and an oolong milk foam drinks. Overall the taste has some bitter sugar molasses / black jelly combo and the cup size is slightly smaller when compared to other boba shops. There wasn't much variation in the tastes of the two signature drinks. Both had a burnt tart molasses aftertaste. The overly sweet molasses syrup makes everything taste uniform but the wow factor is lacking. Still the instagram photos look great but it doesn't deliver. read more

Normally, I think this is bad business and I walk away, but we tried waiting for our order once and it was completed very quickly with the perfect taste! Got the drink with taro pudding and taste-wise it was very good, but the drink was small. I would honestly have paid more to get it a size larger, but the menu didn't mention it as an option. The boba here is delicious and perfectly cooked - not too hard or soft. The taro pudding inside the drink was pretty subtle (a little grainy), but it went really well with the milk tea. Tiger sugar is conveniently placed right next to the max station and is totally walkable. Although there is a fair amount of space to walk around inside, there is no seating inside or outside. So happy this place finally opened in Oregon! I went twice during their grand opening weekend and I was very impressed. They were quite busy both days I was there, but I only had to wait 15 minutes for my drink and nothing ran out. Or perhaps, because it is in a suburb area, and because there are other options for boba and tea nearby? I don't know but if we've tried 100 classic boba milk teas : Tiger Sugar reigns consistently supreme. Simplicity is key with a true Boba Milk Tea. Originating from Taiwan, TS definitely represents. They have a recipe for the black sugar syrup that clearly and obviously cannot be duplicated by other shops despite many knockoff attempts, and that syrupy goodness seeped into their always fresh, warm, perfectly soft and chewy boba (tapioca balls) ... scooped generously and topped with real milk. One size only, and you can't tweek the sweetness or ice. They have perfected their recipe and it's the way you'll have it - or not at all. While they have some options (about 8-10) on slight variations of the signature drink, there's no frilly, elaborate concoction of artificial bright colors and sugary toppings on top. So perhaps if it's that IG pretty you're looking for, move on. But if you covet the king of classic Boba Milk Tea, I dare you to find me one better. read more

$15.25 for 2 boba drinks. It's outrages. Although is as close as origin of Boba tea you could get, because most boba shops in town are owned by Vietnamese or Thai or Chinese. I accidentally popped in on a Sunday afternoon. Found a lot of Asians in there waiting for their drink to be made. Outside, the store is sort of hidden from the main road. I didn't noticed until we biked passed. Inside, no single chair or window bars to put your drink or hang out. Everyone was ridiculously standing around like they are at a food cart. The intention for not being a cafe is clear. You park- wait- order- wait- get your drink (run by number like you are in a bank)- and get out! Like others said the price is high. I ordered #1 Oulong tea with cream cheese. I wanted to taste their famous pearls so I added them (extra charge). With their smaller cup than usual I had VERY little tea. So it's good tea but since it's iced, not blended it ended so fast. Seemed like a kids friendly place but I would not recommend. From one of the two caffeine-free drinks they have, we ordered Mango Sago. Didn't know how much until I paid. No price on this menu. It's $8 Ouch! Didn't even add anything. After returning to Oregon after living in California for a while, one thing I miss the most about the Bay is the endless selection of good boba shops. Thus, I was really excited when this boba shop opened in my area. Although it's been the second day of their grand opening, the line moved quick and service was fast and efficient. We ordered their signature drink with lactose free milk. The signature drink was $5.75 (excluding tip), topping price included. I was also excited that they offered lactose free options...which many boba places don't offer. Their boba was not as chewy as I would have liked, but the flavor was good: caramel with some nutty undertones. The flavor was complex and definitely well balanced with the rest of the drink. The drink itself wasn't too sweet (a HUGE plus). We didn't even have to modify the sugar level! I'm personally not the biggest connoisseur of brown sugar milk tea (I'm more into the non-milk based tea drinks) so I'm excited to try the other drinks they have available. I think it's a good balance of sweetness that isn't too overpowering. I've tried #5 (brown sugar boba with pudding) and #7 (taro with taro pudding) both were really good and again not too sweet. The boba itself is a nice texture, not too soft and not too chewy. I wouldn't recommend the black sugar lemon tea, it was very sweet and tasted too artificial in my opinion. Tiger Sugar is fairly new to the Beaverton Transit Center adjacent strip mall. Being just a short walk from the max makes it a great stop if you're waiting between trains. The layout of the place is efficient - set up for ordering and then taking your drink to go - no seating. The menu has many options so it can be hard to choose if it's your first time. We got the black milk tea with boba for my partner and a taro milk which came with boba and taro jelly. Both were good, sweet but not super sweet. I could really taste the brown sugar on the boba and they were the perfect texture. The taro drink was good but the tea wasn't the best in the other drink. We will probably stick elsewhere for tea drinks but they make a mean boba and milk. I would come back. read more

We visit during grand opening. The staffs are efficient & friendly. There was no issue with orders, it went smoothly. We ordered #1 & #5 from the menu. I enjoyed the pudding with boba. My husband who usually order fruit tea, got the #1 and gave the thumbs up! They have a call number system. And a digital sign for the number that's being serve.
