I was going to the Crofton location since last year and Myrick was my barber. I made an appt for today (4/5) at 3:30p. I arrived at 3:20p and was checked in. I spoke to Myrick and sat down to wait. A gentleman came in about 3:50p and said he had a 4:15p with Myrick. Myrick said out loud "yea he got an appt at 4:15p". Now mind you I've been waiting since 3:20p and he's said NOTHING to me. It was 4:05p and I left out. Like WTF. I was being patient by even waiting past 10 mins but damn I didn't even get a "hey I'm running behind" or just anything. Then here's the best part. The prices went up and they changed their appointment app. So now you have to make a deposit before your appt can be scheduled. I only get an undercut which is $25 and they wanted a deposit for $25. The math not mathin. I will NEVER go back again. It's so disappointing because it's hard to find loyal barbers these days. read more

Well, where do I start? Had a great haircut. Went to pay and the young man told me my credit card didn't work because I pulled my credit card early. I told him that the machine stated it was approved and I removed my card. He assured me the transaction didn't go through. Then he has the guts to charge me more the second time. Stated I was mistaken. I got home and yes I was charged twice. Call them and really no reaction but come in and we will figure it out. Stay away. Update: 3/30 After tons of attempts to get into contact with the owner I speak with him and go in for a refund. What does he do gives me $30 which if you look at the attached photos, I have no clue where he got that amount. This shop is located right down the street int he center with the 7-11 off of Mitchellville road. I take my two younger cousins here to get their hair cut as often as I can. I was referred to them by my coworker but it seemed my mom found them before I did. I usually just drop them both off at the same time (pre-COVID) and wait in the car until they are finished. Amiss COVID, they let me know the measures they are taking to make sure customers have a safe experience. The boys were looking a bit rough so as soon as they announced their opening, I made an appointment online for the boys. I absolutely love the communication from the barbers and owner. The boys always come out fresh and I send back a nice tip per barber. It doesn't take that long. I just love seeing the boy's smiles as the hop in my car when they are finished! Always fun & laughs at TightnUp. Clint Sr. the owner is a good friend of mine going back to high school. They take walk ins & appointments. All the barbers are more than capable of taking care of you. One day Clint wasn't there & I just walked in without an appointment, so another young man stepped up & had me lookin good. I was impressed because I don't like just anyone cutting my hair. You won't find any loud cursing, disrespectful conversation or foolishness other than the normal shop humor here (thank God!). Been living in Bowie for 6 years and this is my dedicated shop. It's a very professional place to with skilled barbers. The shop stays clean and the barbers are very nice. No I don't have a dedicated person but it doesn't matter because they are all fire. To be honest if I ever left, I'd still come to them. The regular is about $20 and the works is about $30. I don't get my haircut that much so it's no stress for me. Kids is about $16. Definitely recommend this place. And remember, tip your barbers! read more

We regularly go to this barber shop for my sons' haircuts. They are very patient cutting my 3-year-old's hair and always deliver a good cut for my 14-year-old. My son is bi-racial and has multiple hair types on his head and while the barber giving him a cut may pull another barber over to get it right from time to time, the end result is usually on point. Also, they are good at creating an even hairline without pushing it back. Best of all, I am always surprised at how inexpensive it is for the cut. Went in on Mother's Day for an emergency haircut (don't ask..) every chair was full. An employee politely informed me that they were closed today. I looked at that full chairs and people getting haircuts, looked back at the employee. "Is that so?" I said, motioning to the chairs. The employee repeated himself politely. I shrugged and left, but became curious. I sat in my car and watched a half dozen patrons come in and leave with haircuts. I don't know what to make of it, but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck. The only difference between me and the other patrons? Ethnicity. My current barber and I had a parting of the ways. Resulting in my need for a replacement. I stopped by the Bowie Tight N Up shop Monday the 17th at 4pm. There were 3 barbers on duty and few customers awaiting service. I struck up a conversation with the barber on the end named Big Chuck. I found him to be personable and engaging so I decided to utilize his services and get a cut. I explained to him that I don't like to wait for extended period for a hair cut so I usually make an appointment to avoid this issue. Big Chuck informed me that the shop has light traffic on Monday and Tuesday and I should be able to obtain fast service on these days without an appointment. He finished my cut and I am very pleased with the job he did. I asked for his card and it turns out the Big Chuck is a master barber. This experience was the worst. I moved to bowie a month ago. I was trying to find a barbershop that was closer in bowie because i usually go to the barbershop in beltway plaza with this guy name "Nett" who is awesome barber by the way. I found tight n up on line and it was really close so I went there to get a haircut. First when I went to get a haircut they directed me to the light skin guy first and then the light skin guy said go to the guy in the corner that is sitting in the chair. A guy that sits in the chair to cut hair ODD BUT OK. (I should of said no, but I was thinking I wont judge by someone sitting in a chair cutting your hair). When he cut my hair I took off my glasses and when I put it on I was telling him what to do all the time. I first told him how I want it and he kept asking me. So he said he is finish and I said no I need you to cut my mustache and use the razor on my shape up. Boy did he use the razor alright!. He made my hairline farther back and it was not even straight. I like them because they had gospel music but they are terrible on haircuts. How do these owners hire these people, I just don't understand. I feel as though that they send me to him because they felt bad for the dude. Because of him you lost a customer that really tips all good barbers all the time. I tip my barber NETT 10 on top of a 25 dollar haircut because it was that good. NEVER THE HELL AGAIN WOULD I EVER COME HERE BECAUSE OF THAT DUDE.
