Went to the one on Rt. 41, ordered two enchiladas one steak, one blackened chicken. Fairly large portion. No chips and salsa, no free refills on drinks, crunchy hard rice. I was aked if I wanted red or green sauce I received neither. The kid at the counter forgot my water and extra sour cream I asked him about it and he said "Oh yeah" he proceed to grab his cigarettes behind the counter and walked out the door! In the Mexican food skyscraper of life, Tijuana Flats is only one floor above Taco Bell. Sure the ingredients and preparation might be better here, but it still tastes like subpar fast food. I ordered a chimichanga (beef, refried beans) because this seemed like the place one orders a chimichanga. Nice, flaky crust. Okay flavor--more of a familiar greasy meat and cheese taste than anything with actual seasoning. Avoid the house salsa, which tastes like diced tomatoes in tap water. The queso is basically nacho cheese so your mileage may vary with that. Surprisingly, the chips were the best part of the meal. But given the prices and gaudy atmosphere, maybe you should just hit up Taco Bell instead. read more

This is the newest location in the area, and although they still have a few things to learn, my experiences here have been pretty good overall. The wait for food is a bit longer than at other locations, but the food has been consistently good, and they have a pretty good sized hot bar. Definitely recommend! read more

We were looking for a quick place to eat by our hotel near the Ft Myers airport. We love Mexican food so we took a chance never having heard of this chain (is it in the Northeast?). It was delightfully decorated and we were greeted by a very friendly staff member who made us feel welcome right away. I loved all the healthy options! I ordered the combo - a burrito and a quesadilla - with rice and beans for $9.99. I was asked if I wanted a whole wheat tortilla. Yes, please! I couldn't finish it! We'd had chips and salsa to start and when I wanted to pack up my meal, she refreshed my chips. I appreciated that! But I must add that we didn't like the salsa (served with the chips) at all. It was too mushy and thick. The sauces I tried were HOT, but I love spicy! Did I mention that there was Dos XX on tap?! I had never heard of this place and was just making a return at Radio Shack next door and decided to try it. So glad I went in! I had a chicken quesadilla meal with rice and refried beans and it was so good! Not a huge portion but great for lunch. The staff is amazingly nice - all of them! My wife and I have been frequenting Tijuana Flats several times a month for almost 4 years now up and down the east coast. We had one in Virginia Beach Virginia that we used to go to for Taco Tuesday and the staff even knew our order each time we walked in. We know Tijuana Flat for their friendly staff and professional yet fun atmosphere and we were disappointed in this location. We ate at this location 4 times before I decided to leave this review just to give them the benefit of the doubt but each time we are disappointed. The food, however, is excellent and consistent with most other locations but the staff is the issue. When we were there last week, the kitchen had "Hard Rock and Metal" music blasting in the background and the staff were wresting and being very obnoxious within eye sight of the dining patrons. I turned my head on this one but then the staff starting joking around up front and talking about things not pertaining to work that could be offensive to customers. I feel that professionalism is lacking in this location and the manager and owner need to do a better job at screening and hiring people because they are giving this location a bad reputation. I do not think we will be eating in at this location any longer but carry out would be ok. Please, Tijuana Flats, do something about this so that we can continue to be impressed with your chain. My main experience with "carry out" Mexican food has been California Tortilla. If you're like me and looking at Tijuana Flats as a substitute for CalTort, you might be a little disappointed. If you just want some quick Mexican and don't care about the price, it's totally fine. I got two blackened chicken soft shell tacos (comes with chips), a side of cheese, and churros. I wasn't a fan of the tortillas; they're a bit thick, which makes them feel a tiny bit rubbery. There also wasn't a lot of meat for how big the tortillas are (probably room for toppings, but if you like them plain, you'll be put off, in my opinion). The cheese was alright. I believe they mix salsa or spices in with it, but I think it makes it taste more like everything else. The chips were fine, but they were packaged in the same container as my tacos, which made them lose their crisp from the heat. The churros were surprisingly tasty, though! I definitely recommend them. I didn't finish my meal, but I kept munching on the churros the rest of the night. I might go back just for them. But for the money, I think you can do better. For instance, you get a side of chips, but cheese is extra. For my meal plus a burrito and drink, it came out to $20. That's CalTort money, but I don't think you're getting the same quality. It's not awful, though. It could just be improved. read more

Great tacos! Fun place! I'm there almost every Tuesday for a quick office escape lunch sitting outside on the patio! It's always a busy crowd for Taco Tuesday but the friendly staff get you in and out quickly. Just listen for your name when they call out your order and bring it to ya! I highly recommend the hard shell beef or pork tacos with EVERYTHING (lettuce, tomato, shreaded cheddar cheese, black olives, sour cream, onion, jalapenos). I can't wait until Tuesday! read more

My fiance and I were spending a few days in ft. Myers and I hadn't been in tijuanna flats since living in Atlanta 20 something years ago. They are better then ever. The food is over priced, the meat is flavorless and far from fresh, their meat portion for the price is a joke. they should just put a drive thru cause it's fast food quality. A fair lunch of a veggie burrito and mahi tacos.

I am mortified why there are so many good reviews of this place. Not to be a food snob, but this was probably the blandest experience EVER! My wife got the chicken burrito which was basically boiled chicken with no salt (or tasted like it). I got steak tacos which was slightly better, but still lacked any actual flavor. Chips were ok, salsa was bland and flavorless. If not for the hot sauce bar to add to this, it would have been tasteless. Even though, if the actual food has flavor, you shouldn't have to drown it in hot sauce. With places like Chipotle, Qdoba and even Baja Fresh, it amazes that places like this can thrive. yeah it's a fun atmosphere with a relatively nice staff, but c'mon, if I'm going to eat, it really should be about the flavor and this fell short by miles! Their sight states they offer innovative and exciting Tex-Mex food, sadly, I found neither statement to be remotely true. I will avoid this place like the plague and drive 30 minutes to go to Chipotle! read more

The food was wonderful and the staff was very friendly. My husband and I both got salads and they were delicious. There were a ton of different sauces to try at the self serve sauce bar which really enjoyed. We had our son with us, so we needed to use a high chair. Best quesadilla I have ever had, the queso is also on the top 5 list for this type of food. Customization is key and you have so many ways to make what your order your own. Friendly staff willing to joke with you and attentive enough to not leave your cup empty. The walls are a site and the roof tiles are done by contests and you can do your own if you catch them at the right time! I don't do spicy but my bf LOVES it, the hotter the better. Meh. Staff was fantastic. Food was so so. I am an authentic and Tex-mex connosoiur, and so after all the hype, I had to see what this place was all about. Greeted at the front door by an enthusiastic young man, I was certain the service would be good and was not disappointed. The food however, was a let down. I was shocked to find out that chips and salsa were NOT complimentary as they are in just about every single similar tex mex joint. I ordered the pick two: a chicken chimichanga and cheese enchilada with the side of rice and beans as well as an a la carte ground beef taco. The chicken (what little there was) were large chunks of bland breast meat. Traditionally, chicken should be shredded flavorful pieces in a chimichanga. Also, the chimi was not fried long enough, giving it a doughy, chewy texture. The cheese enchilada was nothing to write home about. As for the beans and rice, they were cold and tasted as if they had just come out of a can. The beef taco however, was good. Very large and full of toppings. The a la carte taco oddly came with a side of chips, but no salsa. Again, you have to pay extra for that. Then there was the hot sauce bar. As a hot sauce addict, I liked the selections but found that it was just out of place. Why not have a salsa bar instead? It wasn't the worst, but by far wasn't the best. With so many authentic and "Ameri-Mex" options within a 15-20 minute driving distance for about the same money, I am not in a rush to return to Tijuana Flats anytime soon. Went here with 9 other family members over the holidays. Two of us ordered flautas that were inedible. I don't think they change the grease in the fryers very often. My daughter-in-law didn't tried one bite and could not take another. She drove over to Culvers to get something to eat when we were done. My husband had cheese tostadas and was sick for a day. Not sure how one can get food poisoning from a cheese tostadas but he did. We all agreed that it was a dreadful meal. Perhaps the Health Dept needs to stop by for an inspection. Not clean. My son has been to toher Tijuana Flats and really enjoyed them so we were looking forward to trying it out. read more

I have been here a few times. Food is usually hot and ready to go. Burritos are what I get, sometimes the chimichanga. Other people's food looks good too. A lot of different hot sauces to pick from, mild to hot. You can also grab a beer or sangria at this location. read more

Other restaurants can learn a lot from this place. The service here is just amazing, and it isn't a full service restaurant. The girls are always checking on you and get you whatever you need without any delay. The food is fresh and tasty. The sauces are too numerous to try on one visit. After paying 5 times as much at other Mexican restaurants and getting awful food and service, I will be spending more time here at Tijuana Flats. Keep up the good work!!
