My husband and I tried Clase Azul for the first time last week and we were extremely pleased with our meals. Warm chips and salsa were served as we waited and the wait staff kindly delivered more salsa on request. The salsa is delicious! I had lunch portion chicken fajitas, and he had enchiladas in a red sauce. My plate included mildly seasoned pinto beans and rice, and they were the best ever; not bland as I usually find them to taste. I was so happy to find a restaurant that has delicious food at a reasonable price. We will be going back, and I recommend you try them! read more

My hubby and I came here for date night. We went pretty early, atleast I thought.... Arriving about 530pm on a Friday. The parking lot was full, so we parked by the business/building behind the restaurant. We could not make a res because they only make reservations for parties of 4 or more. We lucked out and got 2 seats at the bar. All other seats at the bar were taken and it was a long wait for a table so keep that in mind! Fun ambiance. We were a little confused on who would be taking our food orders at the bar, it was so busy especially the bartender. But it all worked out! I ordered the El Sol margarita and while it was really good, I did not realize how expensive the drink was till I got our check. They do have the prices on the menu so I just did not look , that's on me. Again very good, but not something I would splurge on again. I mean it was a lot more than I used to pay when I lived in NYC! My husband's large margarita was more reasonable priced and he enjoyed his. For appetizer, we got the taquitos .... Yummy! But we were also very hungry , hah. My husband not realizing the size of the tacos got 3, 2 would have been perfect portion though . He mixed it up with shrimp, octopus and I think steak. He enjoyed all 3 equally. I got the birria tacos. They were a little on the dry side even with the sauce , I would say they were okay. Bartender was very nice, they just seemed to be a little understaffed that night and / or still learning how to handle the large volume of patrons. It's commonly understood in this area that Fort Myers people don't cross the river to Cape Coral very often (and vice versa). So after living in Fort Myers for 20 years, I was amazed to find what I consider the best Mexican restaurant in the area in Cape Coral. In particular, I cannot get enough of their enchiladas mole. Our second time at Claus Azul. The ambiance is festive! The food is very good! If I have one complaint it's their wine list. It appears they only have "House Wine". Yes it's more of a tequila place but when I have to drive home, I prefer something lighter... like wine. It gave me a horrible headache. The Mango margarita was sweet and weak....maybe pre-made but a tequila float and it was better but together over $20 for 1 drink. Good news, the Corona was good and cold. Our service was very slow but they were busy. Table salsa is weak so ask for hotter stuff if you want, they have it and it is good. The burritos are HUGE but they said it was great for leftovers. The carnitas street tacos were tasteless and the meat was tough but two tacos to go and I will doctor them up for tomorrow. We were seated immediately for a party for four for dinner on a Wednesday evening (off-season). The booth was by the window and just a little tight, but it was okay! The chips are deep fried in house and you can tell! They're crispy, fresh, but a little oily. The salsa is a little smoky, which isn't my preference but it's not bad! I enjoyed the Oaxaca Club cocktail with Mezcal and a black salt rim, which was good. But next time, I would opt for the classic margarita that my mom had. It's made with Patron, perfectly balanced and has a classic salt rim (that doesn't turn your fingers and tongue black!). For dinner, I had the Rice Bowl with Grilled Chicken and I absolutely loved it! I had to make a few changes to the dish to accommodate my dietary needs and it came out perfectly and tasted delicious. Very nice Mexican restaurant that used to be a sushi restaurant. The decor is quite beautiful and colorful including murals. The staff is very friendly and Valentina was our server. Fresh taco chips and salsa were brought to our table immediately. David got a margarita and I swear inhaled the salsa on the table lol! I ordered the chicken fajitas with flour tortillas. Due to the large crowd of patrons in the restaurant , the service , while excellent, was slow. This was my first visit to Clase Azul, a newer Mexican restaurant in Cape Coral, found on Del Prado Blvd. We were a party of two on a Saturday late afternoon. They were busy and we felt lucky to find a parking space in their extended parking. The overall look was nice and fresh from the recent renovation. I believe this was a sushi restaurant in the past. The menu sets itself apart with many dishes you won't find at other restaurants in this genre. They have an entire sub-section for Birria. Those who enjoy Margheritas or drink flights might find themselves interested in their Margherita Tower flight of different flavors, which goes vertical with hanging containers rather than horizontal. I imagine it would make a fun picture. If I remember correctly, it was $48. The complimentary chips and salsa were really good. We especially liked the chips they served. Mr. T ordered the Birria Tacos and I ordered the Taco Salad with beef. Reluctantly, I admit we were disappointed. Each of our meals may have been fine had abundant meat juices not totally disintegrated the tortillas and Tlayuda tortilla shell. Additionally, the proportions in my salad were off. I had to go looking for salad greens, as there were very little in my dish. I feel it would have benefited from three times as many greens, half the meat, and the meat juices drained before plating. read more

Wish there was half star options, as I'd give this a solid 3.5. Portions are very large, menu has a lot of options, and service was very good, but overall the food lacked anything that made it special or a desire to return and the pricing was high. We started out with guacamole and street corn. The guac was very tasty and good sized sharing portion but the street corn lacked flavor and was honestly a disappointment. My daughter had the kids cheese quesadilla with fries and loved it, cooked perfectly. I did enjoy my flautas; a lot of places mess them up but they were very good and the portion size was good. The others in our party did not enjoy their meals as much. My mom had the steak chimichanga which comes in like a flower shape covered in queso. The steak was seasoned differently and no one at our table liked it. My brother had the fajitas and said they were fine, but pretty standard. My dad's burrito was the size of the table practically; truly ginormous, which is great if you want to share bvut certainly too much for most folks to eat alone and reheated burritos are not our thing. My husband had some sort of chicken bowl with fried plantains, rice and beans on the side. He said it was OK but nothing special. Went for the first time with a group and enjoyed our visit. There aren't many great Mexican places in SWFL and particularly not ones with a good, upbeat vibe. Some try to recreate Mexican food and it ends up feeling too forced. Clase Azul claims to be modern Mexican, but I felt it was pretty traditional Mexican fare with prettier presentation, which we appreciated. The restaurant was more upscale than other Mexican restaurants in the area (although certainly not fancy), had lots of decorative murals painted (but not creepy ones), nice lighting, clean and a festive vibe thanks to their live mariachi duo. Note - the mariachi duo r very good and fun, but if you want to talk w/the people ur with, ask to sit on the other side. Also note that if you're right next to the duo, there's a whole lot of horn and it may stay with ur ears for awhile after leaving. Service was meh - my suspicion is that she was slammed with tables as even mid-week and fairly late for SWFL, the place was absolutely packed. Shows they're doing something right. They also do a very fun (and long) bday celebration complete with the sombrero, a sparkler coming out of a candle holder and a shot of tequila so be prepared for lots of birthdays and consequently hearing it lots of times. That's ok b/c people r having fun and making memories...and the staff was enthusiastic, not the typical half-hearted singing. As for the food, it was hit or miss for us, but overall pretty good. I would return. Free chips/salsa that were both tasty. Salsa was mildly chunky, which we liked. Love that they offer flour, corn, lettuce or cheese as taco wraps - yep...cheese is an option and it was really good! However, b careful if you're gluten free as some of the dishes are marinated in beer and/or soy sauce. The good: the cheese taco shell was really tasty and fun to try. Tijuana carne asada tacos were quite good as was guacamole. Fajitas looked pretty good. All the orders were very generous (with exception of maybe Tijuana tacos that were typical). Truly I'm surprised they serve so much food at such a reasonable price. You could easily split many of these entrees, particularly the fajitas. The birria tacos were pretty good - a bit dry but it does come with a dipping sauce. The bad: the beans were horrible! Like maybe something fruity in them? Not sure, but not edible. The carnitas (on the platter not tacos) were also not good. Dry, no real seasoning. They're cooked in beer and that didn't work for them. Other recommendation would b to have the women's bathroom checked hourly. It could have used some tidying and the stuff that needed tidying the first visit was still there 2 hrs later during the 2nd visit. Would I recommend Clase Azul? Yep! It's definitely more lively than most SWFL places, food is pretty good and entertainment is a lot of fun. read more

Tried this place on a whim. Outdoor seating is available. However that lacks ambiance...simple tables on a sidewalk next o parking lot. Inside is a different story. Not your traditional Mexican restaurant decor. See picture. Boho lights with a lot of black and white textiles. The three of us enjoyed pare entrees. They were an artful presentation. Shrimp chimichanga, four different enchiladas and beef fajitas. The chips were good. A larger portion of salsa should accompany the chips. Our server seemed absentminded or possibly preoccupied. Had to ask for napkins as there were none on the table while eating chips and salsa. She did not bring extra salsa. Finally asked the bus gal. Then our entrees came and we realized we didn't have silverware. So asked another waitress. All in all we would definitely return as there are many things to try on the menu. We ordered a few different dishes; Goat Cheese Jalapeños, Ground Beef Nachos, Birra Chimichanga, Grilled Steak Chimichanga, Birra burrito, Churrasco Steak. Everything was delicious! Flavorful. Definitely unique in their own styles of how they prep & serve the food! I love how unique the Chimichanga was bunched up to deep fry. Cool little twist! Our server was Ash and she had great energy which we appreciated given it was almost 10 pm. For food, we had the Mango Habanero Ceviche and shared the Ossobucco for our entree. The ceviche set the bar. Best ceviche we've ever had and it had a great kick to it. Fresh, full of flavor, definitely something we'll come back for. Ossobucco was really tender and, if you like mole, you'll love the sauce. It would be even better if the meat itself was also marinated so you didn't have to rely on the sauce for all of the flavor. The red sangria wasn't what we were expecting. Too sweet for us with almost a cotton candy aftertaste. Wouldn't repeat that one but would be open to trying the white sangria and seeing the difference. All in all, would definitely be back! read more

My husband and I celebrated 35 yrs together so wanted to try something new. The appetizer (pork stuffed toquitos ) were delicious. He ordered chicken w rice which was incredibly tasty. I ordered the garlic shrimp which was delicious too. The waitress was so sweet and got everything out asap. The painting on the walls were beautiful to say the least. The ambiance was just perfect.
