We always have a great experience at this Tijuana Flatts! The manager and staff are fantastic! Today when we walked in, the manager immediately asked if we wanted a sling for the baby carrier and crayons for our toddler. Then he got the table all set up for us while we were ordering and even put a placemat down for our daughter. The food is great too!! We will always come to this location! read more

Called to place a pick up order, was on hold for 10 minutes. Called back, on hold for 5 minutes, then Nicole answered the phone and I stated again that I was trying to place an order to pick up, she said "hold on let me get something to write with", then in the background you hear a man telling her to stop picking up the phone, she replies "I'm trying not to but it keeps ringing", and the man replied " just let it ring"..... what awful customer service! But wait it gets better when we get there to pick up the order Nicole never put it in!! She literally never even put our order in to go. My boyfriend and I come here at least twice a month and we are even reward members but after tonight I'm never coming back. read more

1 star not due to the staff working here tonight; they're doing their best and have been running since I came at 7:08. This is a management problem 7:48 and I'm still waiting for two simple orders of nachos no meat. Food delivery driver here has been sweating for the last 20 minutes. I feel awful for him as well. Management needs to get to the store and figure out what's going on to help these folks because his team is drowning!!! I would leave but unfortunately I've already paid. Called to place a take-out order while driving to the restaurant from work. Was put on hold for what I was told would be "just a minute". 20 minutes later I'm at the register ordering my food because I was still on hold. The staff here can't keep up and seems to get overwhelmed with the workload during busy times, like Taco Tuesday around dinner time. I asked the girl at the register why I might have been put on hold for that long and she said she would go ask, but I never got an answer. Took a while to get my food as well. Overall, just a poor experience. read more

I've never had a bad experience at Tijuana Flats. I'm always greeted with a smile and cheerful attitudes, that keeps me coming back...along with their awesome queso and hot sauce bar! I'm a taco lover and this place never disappoints, they also offer daily specials such as, Burrito Thursday. You get a large burrito, chips, and a drink for $5.99!!! You can't beat that with a stick. They're queso is always hot and fresh and so are their tortilla chips. What separates Tijuana Flats from other spots is their unique hot sauce bar, all authentic may I add. They separate them by flavors, sweet, spicy, mild, and really hot. My advice, go go goooo!!!! Get your taco, burrito fix! They're also located all over the place in Tampa Bay so you will always be able to find one near by. read more

The food is delicious but they cannot get this place running smoothly. I keep trying to give them business because I live so close and usually enjoy my food, however, I tried ordering online and they have my food ready until 25 minutes AFTER my requested pick-up time. I watched people inside order their meals and leave before I got mine. I only ordered 2 dinners, too, so it wasn't like my expectations were unreasonable. I figured maybe they didn't monitor the online orders enough so I started just driving over to order and pickup and it's just as bad. I don't know if they're understaffed or if too many people call-out but management really needs to fix this issue. I'd love to give them weekly business but I will drive further to go to another restaurant that will serve me when I'm hungry. read more

New to the Area, went looking for a quick lunch. Ordered Bangin Chicken Tacos and steak taco salad. The ingredients were fresh and meals tasted great. What made the experience so good was the service. The waitress was very busy but took the time to ensure everything was perfect. Even ensuring the tops on the take out container are secure. This experience was disappointing to say the least. To start off, the menu involved some very suggestive verbiage like making the burrito "wet" which we assumed meant sauce inside, and several sexually named sauces (I'm not prude, but it was a little off putting and commented on by my boyfriend). Our food arrived, his burrito that he ordered with salsa verde came drenched in sauce and soggy. I also ordered a steak burrito, and found the flavors to be somewhat bland. However the quality of ingredients was higher than most we've been to which helped it tremendously. None of the sauces were labeled, so I can't speak on sauces knowledgeably. One was a mix of Tabasco and Louisiana Hot Sauce but was too hot to actually taste anything, another was overly chipotle flavored and was far too much. Both sauces were overzealous and not very noteworthy (we tried I think Chicken Sh!t and the Habanero). I also ordered chips and spicy salsa, and I can hands down say it was the worst chips and salsa I've ever had. It was like they added a chipotle powder to the salsa that gave it a very gross and over powering flavor. No matter how much I tried to like the food tonight, it failed me at almost every turn. I feel the ingredient quality saved this meal somewhat, but outside of the good steak I found this experience to be disappointing and will not be ordering from here again. So it's Cinco de Mayo and of course wanted some Mexican food from Tijuana Flats (Lutz). I was going to have it delivered but then saw it was going to be an hour before arrival so I ordered curbside which was only 30 mins. I arrive at the time my email said it would be ready, text the number they say to text with your order number and food is supposed to be out within a relatively short period of time. I get that it's their busiest day of the year so I'm willing to wait. 30 mins goes by and nothing, there's about 30 people in the restaurant, no social distancing whatsoever. There's another 10 or so people waiting outside. The girls I see bringing food out are wearing short shorts ( I don't care about that) but one of them kept pulling her shorts out her a$$ with the same hand she's handing food to people ‍. The girls delivering to cars were walking around the whole parking lot looking for people. It was a disaster. After 45 mins I go inside to see if someone could just hand me my food and a guy took my order info, went to the back and never came back. Another person complains and the girl's response was that "people in the back aren't communicating well and orders are piling up". Unacceptable! So after waiting an hour I go to her to cancel my order and get my refund. She wrote down my name and order number and I said how do I know that I'll be refunded? She said "the manager goes through tickets at end of the night and refunds the ones not picked up and money should be refunded in 1-3 business days". So right now I have no faith in how accurate this statement is but best believe I better get my money. Whoever owns this store and is the manager are terrible. I know there's a pandemic right now and it's Cinco de Mayo but this was piss poor planning at this store. At some point management should've stopped orders after a certain point and taken care of the people who are waiting. People were walking around in circles, most orders being called out was of nobody in the store, no announcement were made about running behind with a time frame, no leadership at all. Needless to say, you guys will never see my money again because of this. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

The food is always fabulous here! Love the hot sauce bar with endless choices! Orders are made promptly. Even when they are slammed busy there's no real wait. We've been to several of Tijuana Flats locations over the years. We decided to try this new location last night. It is the closest one to our home. It is nice and bright. The outside tables were a good size and very well situated. I ordered Dos Tacos with steak. They were just awful. The steak was like mush and had no taste. I ate half of one and left the second one completely untouched. When the server came over to clear the table she remarked that I left the majority of my meal on the plate. I told her that the tacos were awful. She proceeded to tell me that she orders them with ground beef and not steak. She said that she would tell the manager that they were not good. That was the last that I heard from her before we left. Today Pepcid AC is on my menu. The manager should have come out and refunded the cost of my meal. It will be a very long time before I return to this location. read more

I came with my best friend for taco Tuesday, and you bet it was packed. The line moved pretty quickly though and we did find a table without issue. There is outside seating at this Lutz location too which we'll do next time.i think. We took advantage of the three tacos special and also benefited from the teacher discount which was really nice. We also ordered the chips with queso, and have to say the queso is great, putting chipotle's newly advertised queso to shame. I give it to Tijuana flats on that one. The jalapeno slices on the tacos are fresh sliced and sooooo yummy, not requiring much more hot sauce!! I enjoy that tijuana flats serves wine and beer too...The red wine is in the small Barefoot brand plastic bottle single servings which is enough for the meal and the casual setting that it is. Yea I'll go back because it has a young energetic vibe that we like, and because I wanna order the loaded nachos next time which look amazing. read more

Horrible quality. Empty booths unusable because they hadn't been cleaned off, yet the restaurant was empty. Queso was watered down and tasted like hot cheesy water. If you ever order double meat, ask for it on the side. Ordering it just puts another $1 in their pocket otherwise. After 10 minutes we had to go ask for the remainder of our order they forgot. No one offered refills, asked about quality, etc. The manager just expedited meals and ran right back to the kitchen. Imagine the manager couldn't even deliver our order without forgetting a portion. I will drive to the Land O Lakes TF in the future. Or I'll just stop @ the Moe's or Chipotle that I pass on the way. read more

A couple days ago was my first time going to a Tijuana Flats ever along with my brother. Very clean restaurant. Very friendly service. Someone greeted us and explained how it works there. I can tell they have a great team by their communication! I liked that they had pictures of the staff painting and getting the restaurant ready. Personally I will stick to traditional Mexican food, but they are doing great for they are going for! I love their crushed ice and I'll be back for a beer or a snack sometime! Hopefully they can get in environmentally friendly cups. ;) read more

Stopped in for the first time last night and won't be back. I don't blame the server for an accident but if you drop an entire tray of food on a guest, you probably owe them a bit more than an 'oops, sorry'. My wife had her meal and mine all over her, including hot cheese that burned her leg. We fully expected an apology from the manager and maybe a comped meal or coupon for the next time, but nothing at all. Definitely not how you handle a situation like that. Accidents happen, but how management handles it afterwards makes all the difference. read more

Not worth the trouble. Cold dry tortillas on the tacos. The salsa bar is one of the worst I've experienced. Not really salsa but a bunch of bottles sauces. Would suggest going to Mekinita, but they are moving out. Guess all we can get now is chain Tex Mex. read more

My girlfriend and I placed an online order during an inexplicably busy time earlier tonight. The order unfortunately took longer than expected and the staff forgot the chips and cups. I went back myself a little frustrated and a lot hungry and I was immediately greeted with hospitality. I've worked service industry in many positions and have to say this crew should be proud. The cashier quickly assured me my chips were on the way and as I waited (probably looking rather hangery) the manger politely checked on my order. I told her I was just waiting on chips but she knew better and investigated further making sure everything was perfect. Although my order was already filled these folks went the extra mile to make sure we were happy. I left happy and with a huge bag of fresh chips. Once home the food was still hot and delicious. And the cookie flautas were .I definitely would recommend this new Tex mex spot to anyone in the area who wants to try something new and hats off to the crew. read more

First time trying this chain, also at this new location. Have eaten at other local Mexican joints, so have lots to compare. Ordered burritos, cantina bowls and tacos. On the plus side, they give a large quanitity of food and a single order is enough for 2 people.......but the flavor (or lack of...) is just ....BLAND. No seasonings, no taste. No cilantro. The meat in the taco had the most flavor, but mostly black pepper taste. The chicken in the cantina bowl was cubed and reminded me of the mystery meat found in some chinese take out places. I've tasted better tortilla chips from a vending machine. I don't know if this chain follows a franchise recipe for their food, or if its up to the individual owner to create the flavorings, but it needs to hire an authentic Mexican taste-tester to improve their cuisine. You'd probably like San Jose restaurant or even Vallartas 10x more than this place. Sorry !! read more
