We were picked up at our hotel, all 28 of us climbed into two trucks and drove to our first destination Ballast Brewery. They have an amazing selection of beers to taste. Our Beer Guides were awesome. They shared their vast beer knowledge at the next brewery Saint Archer. Great beer there too! The truck rides were fun as they were full of beer and water. We hooked up our own music to listen to 80s tunes. (I'm 50 remember? :p ) Finally we got to Duckfoot Brewery where my gluten free brother could have some beer as well! Everyone could join in on this tour! Something for everyone! (They had wine at Ballast too) The catered bbq food was SO good. Snarfed that down with some great beer. Hotshots Brewery Tours is amazing. They made my Birthday pretty epic. The family and friends will be talking about it for awhile! They all want to go again. Im like YES..but you're all paying for it this time :p Nick and Canyon were beyond awesome (sorry if I spelled your name wrong :/ ) Paul is probably looking forward to not receiving anymore of my frantic emails..:p You guys did a fantastic job. A million stars!!!!

The old school firetruck was a pretty sweet ride! There was plenty of beer and water inside for us to begin the journey. You could also hook up your phone to the sound system and play your own music. Nick brought us to three breweries (Ballast Point, St. Archer's, & Mission) and at each one he would give us a little insight on the history of each brewery. Once inside, he set us up with some drinks, and even showed us around Ballast Point. HotShots also provided lunch, which was very delicious! We had chicken wings, subs, pizzas, and fries. Nick was a pretty friendly guy, and a great guide! While at each brewery, he hungout with us and played cards. He even beat us in Pusoy Dos (Filipino card game) numerous times. Pretty sure he was just hustling us though... Overall HotShots was a great experience. We got to go to 3 different breweries, drink a lot, and not have to worry about how to get to the next brewery. We all had a great time, and if you book them for your brewery tour, you'll have a great time as well!

She planned everything for me but only because I didn't know much about beer. She knows SD she knows the beer she knows the breweries and the industry. The group had doubts and didn't really care for my planning :| but after 20 minutes at the first brewery they started asking questions ... participating. And ended up glued to her words as she seeming mix dropped every other beer fact.

Being that our passion is craft beer, San Diego, is sort of our Mecca on the West Coast. I contacted Summer at Brew Hop and they set us up with a customized, personal brewery excursion. We hit Greenflash, Alesmith (on barrel-aged Speedway Stout release day), and Lost Abbey. Summer and Lars went above and beyond b read more » y hitting Alesmith earlier in order to acquire our release tickets for the Speedway Stout. We got to Alesmith with only a few minutes to wait for our numbers to be called. For anyone that has waited in line at Alesmith on special release days, for tickets, and then waited in line for your ticket numbers to be called, you know what a sweet deal this was for us! We had a great time, Summer was awesome! I would do this again in a heartbeat! And I would recommend it to all of my beer loving friends. The personal brewery tours were a great chance to actually get to talk to the brewers, themselves, not just the "tour guide". Fun! But would be so much cooler with a larger group! Excellent job, Turiste Libre!…read more I especially liked Derrik's description of Tijuana as the "United Nations of Mexico." The diversity of the population in Tijuana was not something I was aware of until just a couple of years ago - in large part, thanks to his tour. Prior to that, when I visited Tijuana, I had feelings that were similar to the ones he described among his guests - the feeling of freedom - but I wasn't sure why I felt it, or what to make of it. After the tour with Turista Libre, my feelings about Tijuana evolved from "I feel so free there" to "I love that Tijuana is for everyone." It's exciting to be there and to think about the role that the city has played in the lives of so many who have sought better lives than the ones they left behind. At the same time, being there gives me a greater appreciation for the advantages and privileges I've had throughout my life as a citizen of the US.

We had a group of 19 for a beer and tacos tour. He came across the border to meet us and we walked back over as a group to his bus for our journey to begin. We got food and beer included in our tour that took us to the following places: Tacos ÁAron: Best Birria tacos I've ever eaten. Stewed beef, juicy and full of flavor with a nice kick! Kind service as well. Playami: Run by Border Psycho Brewing. Very kind and attentive staff that were willing to work with my malo Spanish. Great beer selection on tap and a cool indoor/outdoor area. There are also food and coffee options on site! Mexica Brewing: This small and charming brewery is owned and run by a pair of sisters that make great beer. Not far off Revolution Ave, it's worth the stop. Their honey porter is my favorite. Food options here too! Mamut Brewing: I had an amazing time chatting with one of the Brewers. All beers we tried were amazing. Their seasonal pumpkin was the best of that style I tried. Telefonica: Gastro food truck park. I had the best Pulpo (octopus) sandwich at Berracas Burger. It was not breaded and the taste was amazing. If you are nervous about visiting Tijuana, you have no reason to be with Derrick and Turista Libre. Their attention to detail and goal of really touring Mexico like a local was spot on. I will be booking this again for one of the many other adventures offered. For a great time, give this a try!
