From the looks of it, there's a handful of people that actually eat from taco food trucks and like it, including the one I just ate at last week - Xolostacos. However, there's just a lot of things I'm not quite understating about my "dining" experience at this taco truck. Whether it was out of hunger, convenience, supporting a small business, a trend, or maybe the name Xolos, the food truck seemed to be a favorable place to eat from. Well, Im just not a fan of taco food trucks parked on city streets. Questions come to mind: Aren't taco food trucks suppose to inexpensive? Do taco food trucks have expense overhead more than standard restaurants? Are the taco food trucks expenses really forcing them to charge this much? Why are their carne asada tacos and shrimp ceviche prices just as much as it is at a restaurant and they don't even have nice tables and chairs to sit on. My first time eating at Xolostacos. I was trying to keep an open mind. Food order was placed with a guy at the window. Seemed like our food took forever. While waiting I look around and see benches to sit on... no drinks to offer except for half full containers of Fresca drinks without lids (self serve), condiment station was scarce but tons of straws available, and the turf had trash all over. With regard to food, the taco was basic, lacked taste and portioning. Staff that were in the truck never came out to check on stock (condiments and napkins, specifically), or cleaned up tables and floor. ...and this is why I stick more towards restaurant dining and not towards food taco trucks on the street. If I'm desperate and hungry enough, I may try a street food taco truck again. Just not Xolostacos on Main & Third

Chula Vista is a haven for Birria lovers, and I've just discovered the best Birria Queso Tacos in town. They're served from a food truck that offers Mariscos too, but it's the Birria Queso Tacos and Birria Broth that draw me back. The service is friendly, there's some parking, and conveniently, a liquor store is right next door for those who'd like a beer with their meal. The Queso Birria Tacos are a delight; the tortillas are lightly fried and soaked in Birria broth, then filled with succulent Birria meat, cheese, and fresh toppings. If you're not a fan of pinto beans, just say the word. Don't forget to request a cup of Birria consomme to dip your taco in - it's so rich and flavorful that lime becomes unnecessary. You can even add chicharron or tripa if you're feeling extra. They offer bone marrow for just $3.50, which is a steal. The prices here are afforable. They offer aguas with free refills, which is a nice touch. Overall, this place has won me over with its excellent Birria, generous portions, and the overall vibe and customer service. SUPPORT LOCAL!

The bone marrow here is good! And only $3.50!

In a city where Birria is served in almost every corner of Chula Vista I just found the best Birria Queso Tacos in Chula Vista & one of the best in SD. And it comes from a Food Truck that also sells Mariscos which is good but the Birria Queso Tacos & Birria Broth/soup is why I come here. My whole family loves it here, the service is good the guys are really nice & chill, plenty of parking & there's a Liquor store next door so you can go buy beer if you like & drink it at the tables of the Food Truck. Now let me tell you about the Queso Birria Tacos, the tortillas are perfectly slightly fried & dipped in Birria broth as they stuff it with Birria meat & white cheese & trimmings & salsa. They also put pinto beans but if you don't want that just let them know. These tacos are very filling & flavorful, make sure to ask for a cup of Birria consome which is broth so you can dip your taco in it & eat the broth as well. That Birria broth is so good you don't need lime, you can get it in bigger portions as well. If you like chicharon or Tripa you can add it to your tacos as well, I have & liked it but I prefer to just eat the tacos as is. They also serve a bone marrow with the marrow in it only $3.50. That's another thing here I love the prices they are very affordable. And if you want to save money just bring your own sodas I do. They do have agaus here that people love & refills are free which is cool. Over all I love this place, Birria is great, portions are big & customer service & the vibe is very good. Keep up the great job guys & see you soon amigos!

2 tacos with tripa and 1 birria with chicharrón.

Just be more patient and mindful that they're doing the best they can Food 5/5 -mixed(surtido) and cheek(cachete) tacos, meat is TENDER. I honestly can't taste the difference between the two, I just knew I wanted to keep eating them(even after eating 3). Sturdy tortillas so the tacos weren't falling apart as I was eating, I also really liked that each table had two squeeze bottles of salsa, so convenient -orden/order, if you come here, you have to order this soup with the head meat. It's the essence that sums up the restaurant, it's a little peppery with the sweetness from the diced onions and meaty goodness. It comes with about 4 tortillas and there's a lot of meat in the soup to be made into more tacos Ambiance 5/5 -restaurant was full of people eating food happily(obviously the food was delicious) and there was a guy that sang for donations and vendors that came through selling trinkets, just a mixing pot of life and happy place to eat

I've had the pulpo tostada and taco multiple times and they're always amazing, super fresh and never overcooked. I usually get the macho sauce on the side so I can spice it up to my level lol. My family has also tried the tuna tostada, micheladas, chilaquiles, and even Dino nuggets for the kids, everything has been consistently great every time we go. The service is always on point, the ambiance is nice, and it's in a great central location. We usually stop by Wood Market afterward to grab a few things. Highly recommend! definitely a spot we'll keep coming back to. Also, shoutout to the Convoy location, it's just as good!

Even though we were a bit late for the breakfast menu, they still let us order the Smoked fish, Gobernador, and Pork Belly-quiles. I loved the flavors, and it had just the right amount of spice I prefer. I also had a Mango-rita that snuck up on me in a good way. We each tried all three plates, and all agreed they were sumptuous. Everyone running the restaurant was super friendly and accommodating to special diet needs as well. I'm glad we tried this establishment. It was quite busy that day, but there was still plenty of parking, and they had booths to sit and enjoy the experience. Portions were large - we all had leftovers to take home. I would love to come back and try more of the menu!

These tacos were delicious, juicy, packed, and crafted so wonderfully. The people were very nice, and i loved that they had the salsas at the table with chili oil. I had never thought that chili oil would be good with tacos? But it works! The carne asada here is the star of the show. We had a al pastor one and it was ok but not better than the carne. This place was so good we came twice on our trip (we had wanted to try new restaurants every day but this place was so good we had to come again) - now we did go to Tacos el Gordo and all I'll say is if you love carne asada go to Chulas, but if you like a pork taco go to Tacos el Gordo! **One of my main issues with tacos is that the tortillas are thin/dry? I'm a handmade kind of tortilla person don't like the banderitas brand style of tortillas - now they said they didn't make these by hand but they're definitely not the prepackaged ones.

They were very wet and didn't even taste seasoned. Also they put way too much guac on the tacos. The pastor was the most flavorful. I've had better tacos even outside of San Diego. This place was overhyped and not worth the hour drive I made.

First, I ordered an adobada taco. The meat wasn't cooked properly on the trompo why ? :( then they threw it on the grill and ended up burning it. That completely defeats the point of even having a trompo if you're just going to burn the meat afterward. It had a bitter, burnt taste. Next, I got a carne asada taco, and it was completely overcooked and dry:(honestly, drier than the Mojave Desert. The tortilla was hard and didn't taste fresh at all. Nothing about the tacos tasted like the quality I remember. The customer service was just as disappointing. I stood in front of the carne asada guy for about 5 minutes before he even acknowledged me. What made that worse was that there were no other customers there t wasn't busy at all. The workers seemed more focused on talking and laughing with each other than paying attention to the food or the customers. I even think I saw what might've been the owner there, which makes this even more frustrating because this place used to be good. It feels like they're letting it go downhill. I'm giving this a one-star review, but I'm being honest when I say I actually want this place to get better. I'll give them one more chance in the future, but as of right now, this was a really bad experience.
