Delicious birria tacos! We stopped for lunch and I ordered: 1. birria taco: perfect- I suggest ordering it with all toppings. If you are sensitive to spice, be sure to OMIT CHILIES! They were no joke! 2. Side of consommé: super delicious- must order this to dip with the birria tacos. 3. Adobada taco: exactly as expected- perfect but again- be careful with the strong chilies. 4. Agua fresca: all wonderful tamarind is my fav, horchata was ok, sad they were out of the watermelon and didn't refill it. 5. Pata de res taco: served up super lazy style. All the huge bones laying there and one huge chunk of the cartilage etc. I did not care at all for the plating. I had to take it home and slice it up myself and rearrange the whole thing to be edible as a taco. I think they just fished the entire hoof out of the pot and slapped it on a tortilla. No thanks - impossible to eat outdoors this way at a food truck bench. If they want people to order it, I highly recommend they slice it up and remove everything from the bones and put it in the tortilla properly. The bones serve no purpose because there isn't buttery marrow like osso bucco- it's all in the consommé. I had to look up a word to describe this mess and learned a new word- "inabordable" - in French and Spanish - unmanageable food. The condiments were divine- the curtados were perfectly seasoned. If my pata taco had been served edibly I would've piled it high with the red onion and devoured it fresh. The smoked chili condiment should be bottled and sold by them- it's amazing- not too spicy but full to bursting with flavor. The limes and radishes were empty most of the time we were there. Hard to keep up with a busy lunch crowd. Be prepared for lines and tight parking! Go early for the best experience. Also- don't get confused because they share the tent with another taco truck ElChino which was completely dead- no line while Xolo was 7 people deep the whole time. read more

Saw this taco truck while driving by on main in Chula Vista and I loveeee me a good ole taco truck taco, they are the best. But...I was sadly disappointed by these tacos. They seemed so promising and I wanted to love them but they just didn't hit the mark for me. I felt like the meat was overpowered by all the toppings. I really didn't taste the meat. They're supposed to compliment each other and mix well but hmm not these. From the looks of it, there's a handful of people that actually eat from taco food trucks and like it, including the one I just ate at last week - Xolostacos. However, there's just a lot of things I'm not quite understating about my "dining" experience at this taco truck. Whether it was out of hunger, convenience, supporting a small business, a trend, or maybe the name Xolos, the food truck seemed to be a favorable place to eat from. Well, Im just not a fan of taco food trucks parked on city streets. Questions come to mind: Aren't taco food trucks suppose to inexpensive? Do taco food trucks have expense overhead more than standard restaurants? Are the taco food trucks expenses really forcing them to charge this much? Why are their carne asada tacos and shrimp ceviche prices just as much as it is at a restaurant and they don't even have nice tables and chairs to sit on. My first time eating at Xolostacos. I was trying to keep an open mind. Food order was placed with a guy at the window. Seemed like our food took forever. While waiting I look around and see benches to sit on... no drinks to offer except for half full containers of Fresca drinks without lids (self serve), condiment station was scarce but tons of straws available, and the turf had trash all over. With regard to food, the taco was basic, lacked taste and portioning. Staff that were in the truck never came out to check on stock (condiments and napkins, specifically), or cleaned up tables and floor. ...and this is why I stick more towards restaurant dining and not towards food taco trucks on the street. In a city where Birria is served in almost every corner of Chula Vista I just found the best Birria Queso Tacos in Chula Vista & one of the best in SD. And it comes from a Food Truck that also sells Mariscos which is good but the Birria Queso Tacos & Birria Broth/soup is why I come here. My whole family loves it here, the service is good the guys are really nice & chill, plenty of parking & there's a Liquor store next door so you can go buy beer if you like & drink it at the tables of the Food Truck. Now let me tell you about the Queso Birria Tacos, the tortillas are perfectly slightly fried & dipped in Birria broth as they stuff it with Birria meat & white cheese & trimmings & salsa. They also put pinto beans but if you don't want that just let them know. These tacos are very filling & flavorful, make sure to ask for a cup of Birria consome which is broth so you can dip your taco in it & eat the broth as well. That Birria broth is so good you don't need lime, you can get it in bigger portions as well. If you like chicharon or Tripa you can add it to your tacos as well, I have & liked it but I prefer to just eat the tacos as is. They also serve a bone marrow with the marrow in it only $3.50. That's another thing here I love the prices they are very affordable. And if you want to save money just bring your own sodas I do. Terrible customer service Maybe because they come from Tijuana you think it's going to be the same, whether in quality, service or attention, and IT'S NOT THE LIKE THAT, today I went to buy two fish tacos and two shrimp tacos, nothing special, I decided to try them. The person who served me told me that my order would come out in 10 minutes, I saw how other people arrived and they were served faster, even people who arrived after me, I was patient to receive my order, and after 35 minutes I went back to order 3 was you see and they told me that my order was almost there, when I told him to CANCEL THE ORDER, he told me I'll give it to you right now, Why wait until a customer wants to cancel so you can give him his order, and when I told him I want to cancel in a serious and non-pushy way, the guy turned to the co-worker and told him to get that order out of there immediately. Annoyingly, and when he gave me my money back he gave it to me in a rude manner, slapping it on the counter, I think they are providing a service and they make an effort to do so, but if you are willing to put up with treatment like that and wait a long time to eat some Tacos that may not have the same flavor as in Tijuana, it is preferable to go to a place where they may not be very tasty, but they do provide you with good customer service and are more efficient.......
