There's a certain genre of joint that you go to for the food but are completely scared pantsless when getting your food. This is one of those places. Tijuana Tacos 3 is a dive, plain and simple. It quite honestly looks like it has about three billion health code violations, and the overall image is one that should be avoided by every restaurant on the planet. Needless to say, there are bars on the door, and virtually no-one speaks English. The tacos were excellent but, unfortunately, I decided to err on the side of adventurousness and mainly get a fajita platter, which was simply underwhelming. It was under-seasoned and bland in a terrible way - and they forgot to provide tortillas to boot. I ended up more or less choking down bland grilled meat with very little flavor - not a pleasant experience. Have never been here and am new to Baltimore. Ordered delivery for tacos, rice and beans, and horchata. Seemed a bit $$ upon ordering but they went above and beyond because the horchata is actually a quart, the tacos came with a ton of sauces, limes etc, and a good portion of rice and beans. We wanted to try as many flavors as we could and ordered the carne asada, pollo asado, carnitas, al pastor, and carne enchilada. The carnitas were the clear favorite - fatty pork, well seasoned. The pollo asado wasn't great but everything else was good. The tacos come with cilantro and onion toppings as well as cucumbers, grilled cactus, onions, and hot sauce on the side. 3 per person is probably enough. Chips and Guacamole (2 stars): This was a disappointment as I was really craving guac. Super watery, sort of like a mix of guac and salsa. The chips were thick but lacked crunch, almost stale. This place is pretty solid. After moving here from the West Coast, I have to say this is the closest we have gotten to good Mexican food with street tacos. Their salsa/sauce is flavored really good and is best when poured over your tacos. I like to get the 3 tacos with carne asada. I need to branch out and try other items on the menu because I'm a creature of habit and stick to what I know. The place isn't much to look at on the inside but I'm also there for the food, not the place. We go there often when we want our Mexican fix. I'm NOT a mexican food fan; but I've been here twice and it is damn GOOD. The carne asada "fix" mentioned in other reviews is for real. They season it a certain way and grill it perfectly. I've tried the chicken and it is unique with spices cooked in. One sopa/tostada is only $3 something and it is big enough as a meal. I go for the aguas, these exotic flavored drinks that are mildly sweet and so cool and refreshing on a hot day. These are a great deal at only $3 for a very large and wide cup. I moved to Baltimore from California two years ago for uni and was pretty much resigned to leaving all Mexican food behind. When my friend suggested grabbing tacos here (she is an avid Yelper), I must admit I was a bit skeptical. I came here with low expectations and left with the overall impression -- "Not bad". The meats were well-seasoned and flavorful, but the texture was just lackluster. The burrito was pretty forgettable, but I really enjoyed the shredded cheese they use. Yummmmm! This is the spot for REAL authentic Mexican food! My group ordered the 3 tacos each and those were plenty (we each only finished 2). You get a slice of nopales and radishes on the side. I first heard about this spot from the Baltimore Magazine Taco issue - as I'm forever in search of tacos you bet this was on my radar and I was surely not disappointed when I finally made it in. I'm almost never the person who wants to order in, so of course we ate there. My girlfriend and I couldn't decide between the tacos and tostadas (even though I heard the nachos were awesome) so we ordered both and shared. The Tacos come three to an order and you can mix and match proteins. We kept it consistent and had the carne asada in all three. These tacos were pretty straightforward and that was just what we were craving. I can't wait to try the other varieties. The Carne Asada Tostadas were my favorite of the two dishes. When I entered the restaurant the guy that works there was eating ok that's normal stuff, but when he was finish he scrapped rice off his plate and into the pot of rice that they was serving to the customers i couldn't believe my eyes. Hey so if u continue to eat from this place the choice is yours but i would definitely pray over my food from this restaurant. I lived most of my life in California and Arizona, moving to the East Coast I was concerned about the availability of Mexican food. However, Tijuana Tacos reduced this anxiety. When I get a craving for Menudo soup, huit la coche or mole enchiladas this is the place to go. The flavors are traditional and the sauces are all well developed. The lengua tacos are particularly good. To me, it could be allot spicer though, but that is what hot sauce is for I suppose. Consistently good, authentic Mexican food.

This place is just ok, and it's pricey for what it is. The order was for tacos, a sope and chalupas. The meat in the tacos was all quite dry, an pretty overcooked. It didn't seem fresh. It had a healthy amount of heat but the flavor was a little lacking. The salsas are good but I found myself using them more than I normally would just to compensate for the dryness. The thing I probably found the most discouraging was the sope; it was honestly just a large taco. Sopes are supposed to have a different, thicker base, and should also have beans, but this honestly had exactly the same ingredients as the taco save for some lettuce and sour cream on top, and the base was just a standard corn tortilla. If I'd wanted another taco, I would have ordered another taco! Don't advertise sopes unless you're prepared to make them properly. The chalupas were completely soft; I thought chalupas were supposed to be deep fried. It's possible that they just softened up in the delivery process, however, so I can't necessarily attribute this to the restaurant itself. Overall, while this place looks authentic, I would characterize everything as kind of lacking. You can get much better Mexican food in Baltimore. read more

The restaurant itself is tiny, although I've rarely seen it packed. Everyone tends to get it to go, as it keeps fresh from kitchen to home- well, depending on how far you are :P. Their marinated pork tacos are THE best. But so is the steak...and my roommates say that the spicy meat is to die for (I would legit die, as I can't do spice). Get "everything" on them. That includes cilantro & diced semi-sweet onions. If you don't like either of those things, what the heck? Are you even human?? Also, GUACAMOLE. Get it. They make it on the spot and it. Is. LEGIT.
