This place is really cool! I don't go to tiki bars a lot, but well I do, I always appreciate the fun decor and crazy cups. This place goes hard with the tiki drinks, and they have their own room, Thrashers Rum. It's cool that you can sample any that you might be interested in. Since they were five of us, we just decided to share one of their bowls, which is not food... One of those giant drinks. It was sweet as I expected, but the room was definitely in there. Not bad for a bowl at all! It happened to be the brunch bowl of the week. Speaking of brunch, they have brunch all day on Sundays which is awesome. It was like 7:00 p.m. and I got a tiki breakfast platter. I enjoyed it! My friend got chicken and ube waffles which looked great, he was kind of enough to give a piece of the ube waffle and it was awesome. And it's cool that the place has multiple levels and it was just a vibe. It's on the tail end of the wharf towards the seafood market, so it kind of stands on its own. 3.5. I would come back here again but with caveats. Vibes and concept are 4 stars for sure. Service was a little lax but very personable so that is fine. But what landed me on a 3 was value, specifically for my shrimp po boy which, at $18, was literally 3 shrimp on a hot dog bun. See the pic. It comes with broccoli but I had them sub tots. I just have a hard time with the idea that some broccoli, a single hot dog bun and 3 shrimp are worth $18. The fried rice was a much better value in both portion and quality and our s'mores platter was pricey at $18 but also quite ample. Drinks were strong. Not necessarily good. But strong. So whether these drinks were 3 or 4 stars for you depends on your goals. Overall, is this somewhere I would go out of my way to visit? No. Is it a chill easy hang if you're already in the area and need somewhere to drink while waiting to do something else at the Wharf or if you work in that area? Sure. This place was made to party! We came on a dreary spring day- I have to come back during nicer weather because the building is made for it! Also I have to strongly recommend happy hour. The drinks are kind of pricey otherwise, up to $25 for a cocktail! But the happy hour deals are amazing! We started with a rum punch bowl for $22 and holy crap it was strong! It's also so cute and ready for Instagram, and every time one of us lifted it to drink we felt like Poseidon. From there were got some apps to share. The nachos were pretty good and had a unique flavor profile, and you can't beat $12 for nachos in DC! We continued with $5 mini frozen drinks and wow were those a deal! They were super strong and also super cute! A friend got the Pain Killa and again for $9 it was a steal and the most delicious drink we had. Tiki TNT is the best Tiki option in DC these days. I love the waterfront views. The bartenders and servers are always friendly, and the drinks are fun and tasty. This time we got the pupu platter, which was a lot of fun both to say and to eat. And of course the scorpion bowl never goes amiss. It doesn't have true tiki bar ambiance--there are too many windows and too much light--but it's got its own aesthetic that's fun and refreshing. read more

Another stop on our bar hopping journey on the wharf and we stumbled upon a rum tiki bar. We were a little confused when we walked in and no one was at the bar but soon realized we had to go up the stairs and they had another bar and patio with a kitchen up there. It is very tiki themed and the bartenders wear Hawaiian themed shirts and the mugs and glasses you drink out of are themed. We ordered a rose which came in a can and the missionary downfall. They have so many rum based drinks. It's a laid-back vibe and one of the bartenders is really good at his job making small talk and working the crowd. It's a great spot. read more

I love the vibe at this place, especially if you are able to get a seat outside overlooking the water on a nice sunny day. The drinks are decently priced during happy hour ($10) and the food is well priced too. We got the coconut shrimp and the vegetable spring rolls. The spiring rolls were amazing and the shrimp was great too. For drinks, we got painkillers and daiquiris of the day which were apricot. The drinks weren't too strong but that was fine. The service was great too since we were able to place multiple orders within 30 minute timeframe as our party arrived for happy hour. I've been coming to Tiki TNT for 4-5 years and it has genuinely been one of my go-to spots at the Wharf. Unfortunately, after this experience, I don't see myself returning. Apparently, because they've had issues with people walking out on tabs, they now require a card to start a tab even when you're seated at a table with a server. Fine. What was NOT disclosed was that they would authorize my card for $50. And this isn't a "hold" that disappears when you pay and leave. The $50 is still showing as a pending POS transaction in my bank account and those funds are unavailable to me. I spent about $10, paid for my actual items plus tip separately, and still have another $50 tied up. My bank says it could take 3-7 business days for those funds to become available again. So I essentially needed $60+ available to spend $10 at a bar. What made this even more frustrating was the explanation from the manager. He told me they close their books at 2 a.m. and that afterward the $50 would "drop off" and become available again. It's now almost 5 p.m. the following day and it is still pending and unavailable. When I specifically asked him, "So I'll see the money available again tomorrow?" his response was essentially, "Whenever your financial institution issues refunds." That confused me even more. If this is simply a temporary pre-authorization that "drops off," why are we now talking about when my bank "issues refunds"? This is the type of authorization I expect from a hotel, where a security deposit makes sense because you're occupying a room and could cause damage. This is a bar. If this is their policy, customers should be told BEFORE their card is run: "We will authorize $50 separately from your bill, and those funds may remain unavailable for several business days." Then customers can decide whether they agree. Nothing was posted that I saw and our server never explained it. The manager acknowledged our server was new and had not been properly trained to explain the policy, but his response was essentially that she should have told us and didn't. Even more concerning was how my severe tree nut allergy was handled. The menu does a good job identifying items containing nuts, which I appreciate. Because nuts are used in multiple food and beverage items, I asked whether a frozen drink could have cross-contact from other drinks being used in the same machine. Our server's response was basically, "I don't know, I don't think so." That was it. She didn't offer to ask the bartender, check how the machines are cleaned, get a manager, or find someone who actually knew. She just wanted to know whether I still wanted the drink. Not knowing is fine. Guessing when someone tells you they have a severe food allergy is not. The response should simply be, "I'm not sure, let me find out for you." We raised this with the manager too and explained that allergy questions cannot be met with guesses. Again, there was very little concern or attempt to address it. After 4-5 years of coming here, I'm incredibly disappointed. I can overlook an imperfect experience. I cannot overlook having $50 made unavailable to me for potentially a week without disclosure, getting conflicting explanations about when or how it would be returned, or having a severe allergy treated with a guess instead of basic safety protocol. Sadly, a longtime go-to is no longer somewhere I feel comfortable spending my money or, more importantly, eating and drinking safely. read more

This is basically just a review for the distillery, though I thought the decor of the bar upstairs was pretty. Went in for a random tasting and it was a great time. Got to try many of their rums (even some early-production stuff) and it was all unique and unlike a lot of what is on the shelves today. The gentleman that greeted us and did our tasting was also super cool and gave us a nice rundown on the history of the distillery (thanks again!). TLDR: A nice experience. We are always looking for tiki bars when we travel and were stoked to see Tiki TNT down in the DC Warf. The walk down the Warf was lovely and very inviting. We were able to seat ourselves so with the bar area being quite full when we arrived, we opted to sit on the patio which was enclosed and equipped with heaters for the season. It was nice and warm but when the sun went down, it got quite chilly so the staff was kind enough to help us move inside. We ordered quite a few drinks (pictures shown), all of which were delicious. We also ordered the Pu Pu Platter, Tiki Nachos, and S'mores Platter - also delicious! Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. We interacted with quite a few of the staff, all of whom were kind and seemed happy we were all there. Service was very friendly. Will say this place was very overpriced for both drinks and food (cocktails $16-$18) , probably not somewhere I would visit for food again. The stuffed French toast did not come with cream cheese as stated on the menu just with some whipped cream on the side. The middle was stuffed with some very purple filling that tasted like fruit loops. The chicken and waffles were better but felt like the chicken portion was small for the price . We had so much fun going to this tiki bar on the waterfront wharf!!! It's decorated super cute. They have three floors that were all buzzing with life! We got in on their happy hour specials and ordered a few Mai Thai's, coconut shrimp, shrimp dumplings, and spring rolls. They were all really good, but my favorite was the coconut shrimp. I can always appreciate a good tiki bar as they [should] always serve one of my favorite cocktails, The Zombie, complete with all the witchcraft of a voodoo inspired cup. This place checked that box and it tasted good. I won't complain. However, from the moment my best friend and I walked up to the rooftop bar and took our seats, this particular shorter male Latin bartender seemed to not be thrilled about having to serve us. He begrudgingly greeted us a few moments after we had to fight for his attention...mind you there was no one else at this particular bar. There's busier bar areas on the lower floors. A short while later when we wanted to order food, we had to fight to get his attention as simply calling to him was not enough. He finally had a friend or coworker to come to his section to talk to across the other side of the bar and they had to tell him, that his customers (us) wanted additional service. Nevertheless, the sliders were ok. The baos (buns) not sure how they're presented on the menu were cool too. The experience would've been generally pleasant if that bartender weren't there. I came to Tiki TNT for happy hour but did not drink anything, I strictly came to snack. I was fairly impressed with all of the apps we ordered. The coconut shrimp is great, though a little pricey since you only get 4-5 pieces of shrimp. The tots were great and the nachos were great as well. I am very picky about tortilla chips and the ones at Tiki are cripsy and hold well under all the nacho toppings. The service was great, the bartenders in the upstairs area were very spirited and gave us a lot of attention. The decor is very festive and fun. Our first impression of this place yesterday afternoon was a rude server/bartender telling us to not mess up a put together table for a party when we were just looking at the menu while waiting for the restroom that is next to this table. I am an avid tiki bar fan and sadly the service and drinks here missed the mark by quite a lot. We came for happy hour. They have a lovely patio on the inside as well as downstairs bar, the restaurant portion was greatly themed which I love. We sat out on the patio facing the water and barely heard the music. We had someone bring water to the table and then it was a good 10-15 minutes before a waiter came by. My mom and I both ordered the passion fruit daiquiri, the gyoza and shrimp dumplings. The daiquiri was not frozen, my mom and I had different levels of liquid in our cups, and it wasn't even on ice. It looked like a half filled cup. The drink was so strong is was basically undrinkable. Their menu was very rum or whiskey focused and I didn't even see a pina colada or other tiki bar staples on there.. My friend and I had visited Tiki TNT before and were not very impressed. We ended up visiting a second time because they had done up the restaurant for Christmas, and we ended up liking the food and experience more this time. For Christmas time, they had lots of tiki Christmas decor out. The restaurant the rest of the year is tiki themed in an industrial building. We sat in the bar area which was loud but not too loud to have a normal conversation. They also had the windows closed and heaters going, so it was very comfortable. It did take quite a while for a waiter to come and start taking our orders but after that the service was speedy. The food was really good. We shared the tiki tots, they were very cheesy and the tots themselves were crunchy. We also had the shrimp dumplings, they were pretty good but not a lot of flavor. I got the pork belly and pineapple on a stick which was perfectly cooked. Our favorite thing we got was the s'mores platter. The platter came with our own little fire for roasting marshmallows, Hershey's chocolate, Reese's, and plenty of graham crackers. The platter could easily feed 4-5 people, it was a bit too much for two people. We also tried a couple of the Christmas themed drinks which were very good. My favorite was a warm apple cider drink with their rum, it was delicious. Tiki TNT is located at the end of the Wharf, so the location is great. They don't take reservations, but they have lots of seating available. The metro is about a 10 minute walk away. There is also garage parking at the Wharf but it is expensive, I paid almost $30 for 3 hours. read more

This is a fun little tiki bar that is located right on the Wharf. There is limited metered street parking, commercial lots and commercial garages available within a reasonable walking distance to park. There is a small patio area with seating out front, just off a full bar with seating. That all is locate don the lower level. The main entrance and front of the restaurant faces away from the River and is kind of hidden. I had difficulty finding the place. I would say just look for the big deck with the huge smoke stack and you are there. The restaurant has a small dining area and another bar on its second level. It is first come, first served seating. There is also some seating on the deck, which has an awesome view of the River. Most of the patio seating is covered but there is a section that is not. It was a nice night, so I sat on the section that was not covered, plus it had just stopped raining, so it was open. The restaurant has a fun and cool vibe. It seemed liked everyone around me was having a great time. Anyone that follows my reviews knows that I am a sucker for tiki bars. This was a pretty good one. They have a wide selection of tropical drinks....yum and island food. As far as drinks go, they have the traditional tiki drinks and some of their own. I started with the food though and ordered the huli huli wings and spam musubi. My food was ready in about 10 minutes and it was fresh, hot and delicious I would say. The wings were up there with the best that I have had. I really liked the musubi too. I highly recommend both. You will also find bao buns, skewers, sandwiches, poke, pupu platters and shrimp, in addition to beer, frozen drinks, mocktails and sharable bowls. This is part tourist trap, so of course they have merch that includes the ceramic mugs the tropical drinks come in, t-shirts, mugs, flasks, and umbrellas. My next mission was the drinks. I tried the Samoan Typhoon and the Painkiller. I definitely liked the Typhoon better. The Painkiller was not like any that I have come to know and love. I have had much better. You can tell that spend a lot of time on the drinks' presentation though. Well, I enjoyed my visit here. I really liked the food and maybe I was too excited for the drinks because they were just meeeeehhhh. The staff was nice enough. A fun tiki bar on the Wharf. Came here for drinks before a concert at the Anthem, which is right down the boardwalk. It is definitely a popular spot, and it was seat yourself. We had a hard time finding a place to sit at first, and once we did, it took a while to get served. Our drinks also took a bit to arrive, and we had to flag down the server to remind him about our order and again to get our check. Once we got our drinks, they were very good and we enjoyed them.
