This location is a small food shack right outside of Kihei Kalama Village. There was a small line when we got there but thankfully the person working the counter was quick. For my shave ice on this day I went with a small and chose piña colada, passion fruit, and guava. Starting with the ice, it was shaved nice and thin and I did not get any clumps. The flavors were interesting but good and while they leaned sweet, I liked that it was not a complete sugar bomb. Because of that I was able to finish the whole thing and felt refreshed afterwards. My father enjoyed his shave ice as well and agreed that while it was sweet, it was not overly so. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While it is not in my top tier of shave ice, it is a solid option and can definitely scratch the itch when I am in the mood for one.

We never had a problem with the shaved ice it was the way we were treated that made the experience so upsetting. We were first-time visitors and simply asked what the snow cap was because we weren't familiar with it. Instead of feeling welcomed, we left feeling embarrassed. There were no other customers there at the time, so it was unexpected to be spoken to that way. She mentioned that she wished we had said something while we were there, and I understand that. But after the interaction, we honestly just wanted to leave. Since we're only visiting Maui and are already in Hana, coming back isn't really an option for us. I do appreciate the apology, but I wish there had been a little more understanding that customer service is just as important as the product itself. This food truck is actually an old school VW bus painted in white and blue. The line was about 10 people deep when I got there, even though it was around 7:30 and he was closing in about half an hour. After looking over the menu and seeing some wild options like birthday cake and gummy bear, I ultimately decided to go with an Ono Hua, or shaved fruit. For my shave ice I went with a regular size and chose POG as my flavor. Since it was shaved fruit, he had to switch from the regular ice to one that already had the fruit in it. Once he finished making it, he asked if I wanted a sweetener on top and I chose the coconut. As soon as I walked away I took my first bite and wow was it good. The POG flavor was legit and while the lilikoi dominated, that is exactly what I like. I loved the sharpness from the passion fruit and how the real fruit flavors were allowed to shine. The ice itself was super fluffy and light which made it even better. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I really loved this shave ice and can't wait to bring my wife the next time we are in Maui.
