IMHO I've wanted to stop by this cute shave ice stand ever since it popped up at the intersection of Kai Hele Ku and the Lahaina Bypass. It sits on an overlook and stands out with its whimsical turquoise blue painted "shack". Needless to say, I was intrigued...plus I love shave ice! When we visited in mid-afternoon there was a short line of customers ready to order. Kyle, runs this one-man-show. His mother started the business. I think she runs the Peace Love Shave Ice in Kihei. I ordered the Root Beer Float, thinking it was a "real" root beer float. Kyle explained that it was a root beer flavored shave ice. I was about to change my order to another flavor choice when he convinced me to stay with the root beer float with added Roselani vanilla ice cream. I think I paid $9. My husband ordered the "Customer's Favorite", Mango, Passionfruit, Guava. We sat at one of the few picnic tables and umbrellas, and sampled our refreshingly icy shave ices, while looking at the gorgeous view of Lahaina and the crystal-clear waters. I liked my "root beer float" but it was a tad sweeter than I like. Perhaps I should've added a free sprinkling of Li Hing Mui. Next time! Yes, there will definitely be a next time! It's alright and you get quite a bit of shaved ice. We got the customer favorite and tiger's blood. They don't pour a ton of syrup like some places and I actually prefer the lighter syrup so your ice isn't drowning. They make one order at a time since it's a single person working there. My issue is with the customer service. We had 3 couples / friends in front of us and the lady asked every single one of them how they were doing, what they did today, and where are they from. I've been here twice in the past few days and am addicted to the "Customer Favor" which is pineapple, guava, and passion fruit. YUM!! I've gotten smalls each time and it's a generous size!
