First of all you can't miss the blue little shack on the hill and YOU MUST stop. Super friendly ALOHA service with great suggestions for organic syrups on your shaved ice. We tried both haupia (coconut) and Mac nut ice cream on the bottom of our mango, coconut, tigers blood flavors. Returned twice and thought it was better than two other shops. It's alright and you get quite a bit of shaved ice. We got the customer favorite and tiger's blood. They don't pour a ton of syrup like some places and I actually prefer the lighter syrup so your ice isn't drowning. They make one order at a time since it's a single person working there. My issue is with the customer service. We had 3 couples / friends in front of us and the lady asked every single one of them how they were doing, what they did today, and where are they from. This is 5/5 great shave ice. Most of the favors are all natural so they don't have all the super bright colors and over the top sugar content. Instead, you get a delicious cup of flavors. IMHO I've wanted to stop by this cute shave ice stand ever since it popped up at the intersection of Kai Hele Ku and the Lahaina Bypass. It sits on an overlook and stands out with its whimsical turquoise blue painted "shack". Needless to say, I was intrigued...plus I love shave ice! When we visited in mid-afternoon there was a short line of customers ready to order. Kyle, runs this one-man-show. His mother started the business. I think she runs the Peace Love Shave Ice in Kihei. I ordered the Root Beer Float, thinking it was a "real" root beer float. Kyle explained that it was a root beer flavored shave ice. I was about to change my order to another flavor choice when he convinced me to stay with the root beer float with added Roselani vanilla ice cream. I think I paid $9. My husband ordered the "Customer's Favorite", Mango, Passionfruit, Guava. We sat at one of the few picnic tables and umbrellas, and sampled our refreshingly icy shave ices, while looking at the gorgeous view of Lahaina and the crystal-clear waters. I liked my "root beer float" but it was a tad sweeter than I like. Perhaps I should've added a free sprinkling of Li Hing Mui. Next time! Yes, there will definitely be a next time! With the closure of Ululani's at the Hyatt and the one in Lahaina a casualty of the Lahaina fire, I was not looking forward to having to go to Central Maui for good shave ice. So, when I found Peace Love Shave Ice recently opened up on the Bypass, I knew I had to stop by. Using natural fruit syrup, you can choose one of their popular combos or make your own.
